Eddie Long and Paula White, Selling Supposed Favor With God.

by @ 11:53 am. Filed under Nuts on Parade

Melvin over at Pulpit Pimps has done a good job of exposing scams just run by Eddie Long and Paula White. Be sure to read it all, because when you better understand how scripture is twisted you can help keep yourself rooted in sound doctrine.

When I was attending Eddie Long’s house of confusion (aka New Birth), he called the mentioned scam “First Fruits”, but now he calls it “Tabernacle Offering”. Same scam, new front name, now that so many apologetics have called out the First Fruits scam by the former name. And if you give Eddie Long enough, he’ll actually give you something in return.

(see the PDF at Pulpit Pimps)

All persons sowing $2,500.00 or above will receive this limited edition New Birth Cathedral Replica.

I pointed out the PDF on Eddie’s house of confusion web site (at the time of this post it’s still there in the same form at this URL), so I can verify that the copy Melvin has on his site is authentic.

And Paula White. I’m sure as you read about her scam it sounded familiar to you. Because it’s the Steve Munsey scam of 7! I guess Paula figured there was no reason why Munsey had exclusive rights to the scam.

Folks, what are all these folks claiming they get the truth from? The Bible. Do yourself a big favor. Don’t let them teach you the Bible with their twisted mess. Read the Bible for your self. Learn the difference between Old Covenant and New Covenant. Learn what Paul did to avoid the temptation of money and any potential accusations of financial impropriety.

1 Corinthians 9:18 (New King James Version)

18) What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel.

Preachers CAN receive money for their care if they labor in the Gospel. HOWEVER, Paul desired to ensure he avoided temptation with money AND to prove that he was authentic about his preaching of the Gospel AND to allow that money to go to other use. So he refused money. 1 Corinthians 8 & 9 help to clarify Paul’s stance and how he handled things. Just the same, although preachers can collect money for their own care, we see that many have abused the privilege. Which is why Paul turned the money down. Remember, these scams have been going on for a very long time.

Now that lesser pimps have run their annual Spring Scams, the big dog of the pimps will start barking next Sunday.

one thing that I’ve noticed is that from day 0 of the whole Jesus movement, there has always been an argument of who is right and who is wrong. And Jesus was killed for what he was trying to preach and the folks that continue to preach his word get ridiculed unless they are practically homeless and begging.

At this point, I feel like we won’t know anything until that “great day” gets here. It won’t matter how many schools and hospitals are built and how many people get helped by any of the mega-ministries (as they are called) people are going to have something bad to say about it.

But hey whatever makes you feel good about yourself.
    Peace out….

You have a Bible that explains things clearly, but you’ll never understand till you read it without listening to those who run such scams.

When did Jesus and the apostles amass large sums of wealth to build buildings?

All you need to do is compare what is happening today versus what Jesus and the apostles did. What is being done today is an exercise in men taking your money to enlarge themselves and their buildings. What they give in charity is sometimes not even 10% of what they took in, while the demand 10% in a “tithing” scam. While Jesus said give to the poor. Name me one mega-church pastor who is poor? Give them nothing. The bills they claim that they need to pay are the result of financial burdens related to buildings and efforts to place themselves in TV, not to help the poor.

It’s got absolutely nothing to do with what makes me “feel good”. That’s what the pulpit pimps do. If I wanted you to be nice to me I’d say things you would want to hear. It’s about the truth and upholding the true message of Jesus Christ. Not the lie you’re being fed by people like Eddie Long and Paula White.

I am so glad someone is holding him accountable. I have a good friend who has been a very long time member and I just feel so bad that she cannot see the truth. I went to his church a couple of times when they were located on Snapfinger Road and I didn’t hear or see anything spiritual going on in there. These are some of the things I saw that turned me off:
selling tapes and books inside the church, right outside the sanctuary
church members have an id # (to track their tithes)
the church has a credit union
one of the pastors told the congregation that if you haven’t been tithing regularly and you fall on hard times, don’t come ask the church for money
Eddie told the congregation that he knew there were women in out there lusting after him and his muscles (he looks like a toad to me)

    My ex-husband told me this:
Eddie spent $40,000 to create a video remix of one of the church’s songs
A helicopter was rented for the video
Eddie and his bodyguard step out of the helicopter like a bunch of pimps

I hope the senate committee nails him !!

stinastina – I know all that you said is true, because I was there for 7+ years.  I don’t know how much they spent to remix a video, but I recall they did have a video with men in military garb featuring Long and Byron Cage and it included a helicopter.  And that was back during the Snapfinger days.

  6. speakingtruth Says:

OK IC – I thought you’d get a kick out of the fact that I found the remixed video you mentioned w/Eddie getting out of a helicopter.

And yes, it was remixed for $40K.

    Thanks ST.

I’m sure some folks will be amazed when they see that mess the Lord brought us out of. Watching something like that now with a better understanding, it’s amazing to me that I once endorsed it. To God be the glory, through Jesus Christ.
