As Christians, we must also remember that governments are all ministers of God, without regard to whether they go from relatively good to despicably evil. Peter and Paul who told us to honor the king and the governors sent by them, lived under such men as Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius and Nero.

We may make appeal to governments, such as Paul or as Justin Martyr did in their day. So, interceding for this teen is appropriate, but, bear in mind what IC has said, that we cannot know the whole truth of the case. We may certainly respond to her heartfelt appeal. It is certainly right to advocate for the helpless, as Job said in his book, “I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.” (29:16)

Along with making appeals and intercession on her behalf to the immediate authorities, we are to pray for those in authority. For, in response to that, God may certainly move in her favor as Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”

If appeals, letters, advocacy to the authorities as well as prayer to the “Ruler of the kings of the Earth,” the Lord Jesus Christ (Rev. 1:5) and His Father yield no change; then we must trust in the divine decision. We must believe that all the judgments of God are “altogether righteous” even when they are distressing to behold from the outside.

We cannot challenge God’s management of this corrupted world; but we may certainly appeal to Him on behalf of people. We don’t know this young woman’s spiritual state. God’s main interest is the saving of the soul from sin and destruction - a concern He has about this young lady as well, in fact, He cares about her eternal state more than any other temporal matter.
