Unbelievers Can See Through Rick Warren’s Game Too! (Audio)

by @ 2:49 am. Filed under Audio, The Truth Shall Set you Free!

I’ve always found it interesting, how Christians can sometimes fail to recognize a false teacher, yet often unbelievers show they realize when someone is not true to Christian doctrine better than many Christians.

So prior to the elections, one of the many pieces of tripe I watched off my DVR was the Saddleback Forum. Where Rick Warren had a sit down chat with the then 2 leading US Presidential candidates, John Sidney McCain, III and Barack Hussein Obama, Junior. Now in ancient Rome “citizens” who were not very poor could vote for Senators, but we have no record in scripture of the Apostles taking it upon themselves, to help any saint decide which Senator to vote for. (When speaking about ancient Rome, some who acknowledge historically saints chose to abstain from political involvement, often act as if nobody could have voted at all if they desired.) Oh, but we’re talking about Rick Warren, so of course scripture and church history mean nothing when this man can make a spotlight for himself. (And I’m not trying to tell anyone not to vote. I voted, although not for any of the Presidential candidates, I voted in other races. I’m just telling the honest truth, that we Christians today have spun a view of politics, that is not in agreement with the posture of many saints before us.) While I’m not against Christians making a choice to vote, I do have an issue with pastors who feel they must (or should) present publicans to the church. The only message the church should play host to is the Word of God, not politicians holding ear tickling sessions. So any pastor who “host” a session for his “church”, to indulge publicans, is to me a pastor that is not focused on the teaching and preaching of the Word of God. But I watched the Saddleback Forum and thought it was junk.

Well, before I had an opportunity to watch the Saddleback Forum, my brother in Christ and reader of this blog Remnant, told me to check out Michael Savage’s comments about the forum. I waited till after I viewed the Saddleback Forum in full and even till after the election, before I decided to listen to Michael Savage’s comments, which I had archived to listen to. (Yes I still record various talk radio programs from time to time.) Well it was interesting listening to Michael Savage’s comments about the Saddleback Forum. Because although Michael Savage is an unbeliever primarily concerned about immigration issues, his view of the forum, Rick Warren and the candidates was very much on point. It was how I felt, although my primary concern was the matter of this nation’s shedding of innocent blood via abortions and embryonic stem cell research. It was interesting to hear Michael Savage explain, that what Rick Warren puts up as Christianity is not really the gospel and actually an effort to twist and pervert the gospel.

So give Michael Savage’s take a listen.

Remembering Veterans 2008

by @ 10:57 am. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

Today we remember those who have served in America’s armed forces and honor those still serving.

Nation Honors America’s Troops on Veterans Day

Americans honored the nation’s troops Tuesday in commemoration of Veterans Day.

President Bush is expected in New York to formally rededicate the Intrepid museum in honor of Veterans Day, and thousands of visitors are expected to gather at the aircraft carrier’s newly rebuilt pier on Manhattan’s West Side.

In Chicago, President-elect Barack Obama will place a wreath at a memorial to fallen U.S. soldiers alongside Illinois Veterans Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War veteran who lost both legs in combat.

Across the nation, flags were placed on the gravesites of veterans by volunteers, including Anessah Tookes, a 15-year-old member of the of the Junior Girls of the VFW Post No. 379 in Yakima, Wash., who honored the fallen troops laid to rest at the city’s Tahoma Cemetery.

In New York, the president will mingle with some 2,500 veterans aboard the World War II carrier. The ship was recently returned to its Hudson River site after a 19-month, $120 million overhaul that added more planes to its aircraft collection and updated its museum displays.

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said Bush will pay tribute to those who served on the Intrepid — and those he calls a “new generation of heroes” serving in the war on terror.

That new generation is increasingly looking to the Internet to stay connected, and the American Legion launched a social networking site Tuesday called CommunityofVeterans.org to reach out to younger vets of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In honor of the federal holiday, post offices and banks are closed.

A salute of honor to all who served.

Tomorrow, My Voting Will Be Quick Work.

by @ 4:09 pm. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

OK, I’ve already mentioned I’m not voting for any of the Presidential candidates and all of them disinterest me so much, that I’ll be skipping that portion of the ballot.

I’ve reviewed the US State Senate candidates for my state (TN) and decided I don’t like any of them either. All of them (except one I’ll explain in the next paragraph) seem to compromise on the the value of human life. They all (except one who I won’t be voting for) approve of abortion in some cases for sake of convenience. I only find a necessity to consider abortion if the life of the mother is in danger, nothing more. Simply because if the mother dies, that puts the baby at risk too and no need in possibly having 2 dead people. In cases where there is no major risk of anybody naturally dying during pregnancy, I am totally against even thinking of abortion. I’ve mentioned, I don’t compromise on this any more. Lamar Alexander is the incumbent running in the US Senate race and he approves of experimentation on babies, also known as embryonic stem cell research. He’s also OK with babies being murdered if “conceived via rape or incest”. That is considered a 100% Pro-Life view, but I disagree. No baby should be given the death penalty just because they were conceived in an act of rape or incest. It’s not the baby’s fault and the baby should not face being murdered, when they are not the one harming anyone.

There is a Libertarian named Daniel Towers Lewis running for US Senate here in Tennessee. I can’t vote Libertarian, because Libertarians are just too easy on what they call “victimless crimes”. Sorry, but I don’t want dope dealers, pimps, Johns and hookers feeling they can have free reign over my community. But I mention Daniel Towers Lewis, because he has a very interesting take to how the abortion issue should best be addressed. Please take a quick read of his viewpoint on the matter. Also, Mr. Lewis has a take on the issue of government’s role in marriage, that is worth reading. (If this guy ever gets off the Libertarian bandwagon and tightens up on law enforcement a bit, I might seriously consider voting for him.)

I am voting for everything below the US Senate level, just skipping President and US Senate races on the ballot.

For US Congress, I’m voting for Eduardo Bryan ‘Ed’ Choate, Senior. If you’ve been reading enough posts on this blog to surprise me, you remember I mentioned I was very close to voting for Mr. Choate when he ran for US Senate. I think over the past couple years, I’ve come a bit more in agreement with Choate and I’m a little less fond of candidates who push that “states rights” is acceptable when it comes to the issue of abortion. I still don’t agree with Mr. Choate on everything, but I am more in agreement with him now than in the past. See Eduardo Bryan ‘Ed’ Choate, Senior’s position on the issues here.

Since Ed Choate ran for the US Senate in 2006, I’ve had an opportunity to speak with him directly via phone. We were able to have a good conversation about our faith and our view of politics. I had no idea when I moved to the Chattanooga area, that I was moving into his US Congressional district, but we were able to get in touch with each other. Honestly, I’m not very against the incumbent Mr. Choate is running against, Zach Wamp. Wamp will probably win and I won’t be very disappointed by that. (From what I’ve found, Mr. Wamp is against abortion and against so-called embryonic stem cell research.) But Choate is an Independent Pro-lifer. He does not owe any political party anything. Choate realizes America’s currency has no backing and that’s not a good thing. He understands that the USA would do better to cut ties with globalization groups like the United Nations. Ed knows America should use its resources instead of pandering to junk science. Also, Ed knows illegal aliens should not be coddled or given amnesty. And before any of you cry that I’m somehow being “harsh” to people from Latin America, because I don’t care to give illegals amnesty (as someone already said to me today), you better take a look at Ed’s biography ;) .

2 John 1:10-11, Cold Weather And Mormon Missionaries…

by @ 3:30 pm. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

I figured I’d document this somewhere before I forget the details. And I figure I’d some day want to mention this on the blog for some reason. So I figure I’ll just blog about it, because it was an interesting occurrence.

There’s a cult of Joseph Smith Junior (Mormon) building not very far from where I live. There are buildings for other cults and also church buildings near by, but I’ve been awaiting the day the Mormons here in this town come to my door. And today was the day. (It always seems to happen the day you’re least thinking about it though.) 2 female Mormon missionaries came to my door. I was really thinking 2 men would come, since I’ve usually had to deal with men they send out when living in other places, but I guess these local Mormons figured they’d try sending the women out. So these 2 rather cordial women were on my doorstep. Given 2 John 1:10-11, I never permit Mormon missionaries across my doorstep.

2 John 1:10-11 (New American Standard Bible)

10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting;

11 for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

So there I was having to maintain my convictions with two women, when it would have been much easier to do with leaving two men on the doorstep. I know some folks let them inside for the talk, but I don’t. And it’s 50 degrees fahrenheit here today and windy! So this made their mission a little more impossible. Because not only was I unreceptive to their efforts to recruit me into their heretical fold, I had them doing it in the cold. (And hey, if they were near death or hurting I’d help them, but they were in good health and dressed warm, so leaving them on the doorstep didn’t really hurt them any at all.)

So they started talking about how they wanted to tell me about how “Jesus after being in Jerusalem came to America and shared what can be found in the Book of Mormon.” This basically left me with the angle of response regarding how:

So basically I found today, given the cold weather, when cultists come to my door, my time to engage them is going to be very limited. They’re not going to want to debate much in adverse weather. (Usually my doorstep talks with Mormons and Jehovah-less Witnesses can be rather lengthy, but those did take place in warmer weather.) Which is a given, but I’ll have to keep it in mind for future encounters, so I know to tell the truth and don’t be long winded about it when the weather is bad.

I just like to document these experiences, in case it somehow helps a fellow saint or even helps a person loss in the cult of Joseph Smith Junior to come to know the truth.

(No comments promoting the cult of Joseph Smith Junior will be posted, 2 John 1:10-11 goes for this blog too.)
