I can't even bare to hear his voice speaking and unfortunately (or maybe not) I haven't been able to listen to even one full sermon of his. I have however, read enough to know that he fits the pimp profile to the letter and also, because of the company he keeps. He and TD Jakes were in a S Jersey "07 is the year of completion blessing/breakthrough that turned into the '08 new beginnings blessing, but only after you complaining black women finally learn how to treat your anointed man who is 'flowing in the anointing' right, and throw money at the pastor's feet to find your destiny, and purpose, because folk's gone get jealous when you get your promotion" mega church this past summer. Notice, aside from these pulpit pimps wanting an audience to fawn over them, they also look for those in the congrgation to LOOK like them, regardless if they have the funds to do so or not. From my experience at IYWCC, the pastor would always make references to having his suits and shirts custom made (nothing "off the rack") and having upscales stores of choice for his shoes. The look also included having a personal barber come to his home (re: estate), on an on-call basis, for cuts. It was all a component of the total package to market, implying to the masses that "'richliness' is next to godliness." Yes, this is all about imagery, the very thing your references scriptures speak against. IC, this post is pretty timely, given the current economic climate.
