Jamal-Harrison Bryant, A Popular Name, But Not For The Sake Of The Gospel Of The Lord Jesus!

by @ 10:11 pm. Filed under Nuts on Parade

I think it says something, when a pastor is known as a great metrosexual, but when it comes to his sermons they are devoid of Christ and only expose his hypocrisy. Once upon a time, when I was drinking the poison of delusion, I used to think mess like pastors being known for “fashion” was something cool, but now I find it to be rather disgusting. Like a dog going for it’s own vomit, as God had Peter write, 2 Peter 2:22 [click to expand link].

While real men of the gospel were not concerned about looking pretty during a sermon, 1 Corinthians 4:10-13 and the Lord Jesus told them not to worry over apparel, Matthew 6:31-34. The Pulpit Pimps take the opposite route and what would one expect from someone who preaches another gospel? While Jamal Bryant is the subject of this post, this is a matter common with pulpit pimps. They’re so concerned about LOOKS, that the only thing many appreciate them for is LOOKS. (Or looks and tickling their ears with false teaching.) How many of the Apostles of the Lord Jesus made the style pages of publications of their day? But the pulpit pimps of today seem to be regular figures.

Look at this from the style section of the Knoxville News Sentinel newspaper, out of Knoxville, Tennessee. The article is a profile of a man the paper finds to be a sharp dresser, a guy named Ashanti Bailey.

Personal style: Passion for fashion at tender age still ingrained (emphasis added)

Ashanti Bailey’s personal style

* Style icons: Designer/rapper/actor Sean Combs aka P. Diddy, designer/actor Derek Watkins aka. Farnsworth Bentley, singer/actor Jamie Foxx and Baltimore megachurch pastor Jamal Bryant

Now I’ll say, when I was taken in by delusion, what I’m saying now about Bryant and other pimps made absolutely no sense to me. And I’m sure their followers can’t make sense of this post, if any of them happen to read it. But just the same, the following scripture is for those who follow men like Bryant, Eddie Long, TD Jakes and other fashion show plates. Lord willing, something will register as to why what those men are doing is wrong.

Matthew 23:5-12 (New American Standard Bible)

5 “But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.

6 “They love the place of honor at banquets and the chief seats in the synagogues,

7 and respectful greetings in the market places, and being called Rabbi by men.

8 “But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers.

9 “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.

10 “Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Christ.

11 “But the greatest among you shall be your servant.

12 “Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.

Matthew 23:25-28 (New American Standard Bible)

25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence.

26 “You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.

27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.

28 “So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Some who disagree with the things I say would like to claim I am being a “Pharisee”, but the truth is, some of you don’t really understand what a Pharisee is.

IC, this post is pretty timely, given the current economic climate. Notice, aside from these pulpit pimps wanting an audience to fawn over them, they also look for those in the congrgation to LOOK like them, regardless if they have the funds to do so or not.

From my experience at IYWCC, the pastor would always make references to having his suits and shirts custom made (nothing “off the rack”) and having upscales stores of choice for his shoes. The look also included having a personal barber come to his home (re: estate), on an on-call basis, for cuts. It was all a component of the total package to market, implying to the masses that “‘richliness’ is next to godliness.”

Yes, this is all about imagery, the very thing your references scriptures speak against.

Of all the false teachers I’ve heard, Jamal Bryant is one who literally makes my flesh crawl. I can’t even bare to hear his voice speaking and unfortunately (or maybe not) I haven’t been able to listen to even one full sermon of his. I have however, read enough to know that he fits the pimp profile to the letter and also, because of the company he keeps. He and TD Jakes were in a S Jersey “07 is the year of completion blessing/breakthrough that turned into the ’08 new beginnings blessing, but only after you complaining black women finally learn how to treat your anointed man who is ‘flowing in the anointing’ right, and throw money at the pastor’s feet to find your destiny, and purpose, because folk’s gone get jealous when you get your promotion” mega church this past summer. SIGH.

IC, what a good post. I was shun by certain pastors for not being part of a Fashion Show. I told them if the members of the church I Pastor want to see me come to Sunday School and Bible Study not just to preaching. Keep up the good work.
