Todd Bentley, No Real Healings and Being Exposed by ABCNews Causes Him to Take a Break!

by @ 12:59 am. Filed under Nuts on Parade

Alan over at Real Christianity sent me a heads up about the ABCNews piece. And notice in Alan’s post how yet another person died after Todd Bentley laid hands on them.

Todd Bentley – Faith Healer, Lakeland, FL (1/2)

Todd Bentley – Faith Healer, Lakeland, FL (2/2)

Also, you probably remember the man we saw Todd Bentley beat up on video. Well a blogger caught up with him for an online interview. Blog Battle 4 Truth has a copy of the full interview.

Bottom line is, whenever proof of these “healings” is searched for, no real fully verifiable evidence is found. Some people claim a level of improvement, some have proof of a level of improvement, but NO FULLY VERIFIED HEALINGS. Those dying from things are still sick and not well, the lame are still lame and some people now even sleep (are dead).

So Todd Bentley is riding off from Florida for at least a while, with plenty more money in his pocket and after all that talk about “healing”, nobody can medically confirm a thing. Just that some people were doing a little better afterward, yet still with the same illness they had before. And when asked about the money, the answers from Bentley were about as empty as the claims of healings.

Also check out the Bene Diction Blogs On post titled Canadian Todd Bentley leaves (gets booted from?) Lakeland ?revival? after expose.

It is sad that some that were duped by Todd Bentley are still in delusion, but some now see the truth about the charlatan named Todd Bentley.

There was also a guy who drove his family (including his autistic son) to Todd “the tool of Satan” for healing. Well, let’s just say that this guy left the “revival” with a different perspective than when he came with.

Thanks God through Jesus Christ that more and more people are starting to see this demonic disciple for what he really is.

  2. young1lookin4thetruth Says:

I was reading some of the links you posted IC and one that got me was the link to Battle 4 Truth. I saw a testimony from someone that went to Lakeland and this person really uncovered the motives of people going to these revivals. Looking for “more”…that is sooooo true because we’ve been taught (well I know I’ve been) that God comes in doses. It’s like there are more levels of his power and his anointing that can be reached. That really hit home for me because I find myself thinking that abundant living (this person talked about that as well) means here on earth lacking for no good thing. Well when Jesus said he came to give us life and that life more abundantly, was he talking about our spiritual life? Now that I’m thinking about it, it makes me feel like he’s talking about eternal life instead of our natural life on earth. I’m going to read that in full context…I’ll be back 🙂

    young1lookin4thetruth,

Well when Jesus said he came to give us life and that life more abundantly, was he talking about our spiritual life? Now that I’m thinking about it, it makes me feel like he’s talking about eternal life instead of our natural life on earth.

Now you’ve got it! Our rewards is not in this world, but the life we will spend with Christ. Because as He said, His kingdom is not of this world, John 18:36.

Jesus told His disciples to store up for what they would receive after this life, Luke 12 and they told saints to not worry over the cares of this life, 1 Timothy 6.

Now young1lookin4thetruth, this does not mean that YOU are to sell all YOUR possessions. Christ told those with Him to do so, but in their instructions for the church, they never told the church to sell all that anyone had. (Some did sell all they had as they personally felt led, but it was not a continual blanket command for everyone to do. Each must give as they feel is best with no regrets.) They did clearly tell those with wealth to give to store up a future treasure for themselves, 1 Timothy 6. It’s about what we will “reap” after this life.

About all that “sowing” you were told to do. For you to be told to expect money now is not only a lie, but makes your entire act of giving false because it tainted your motives for giving. You are to give as the Lord leads you to give and expect NOTHING in return in this life. In this life accept as the Lord wills and when you have abundance be willing to share. And you’re not supposed to knowingly give it to vipers like the bunch telling you to “sow” for money now, you’re supposed to help saints who have real needs first and foremost. See Matthew 25:31-46 and how Jesus speaks of how anyone treats His “brothers”. (Brothers are those that believe on Christ.) You’re not a person with abundance though, at least not yet. But if you have the basics of food and shelter remain content. Keep working on your education, but don’t be consumed with desires for wealth.

Hope you read the book of James, it will help you better understand.

  4. young1lookin4thetruth Says:

Yes I will be reading James along with the rest of the books in the Bible… I have read them time and time again but this time I won’t be reading them blindly and influenced by what a man has said. I will read them to get a real understanding instead of a false hope. With all thy getting, get an understanding. Now I really understand what that means 😀

  5. Lennie Says:

I have a feeling that something happened that we don’t know about yet. At the rate that he is beating up and kicking people, it’s very possible that someone has threatened to file an abuse lawsuit against him.

  6. anointedvesselAKAKenya Says:

IC I’m glad you broke that down for us I always got the abundant life is right now! message because of the tithing and sewing and pressed down shaken together running over and blah blah blah…you know what I mean. I think the church is a lot like the world in that way. It goes through fads and trends. Right now the current trend and fad is prosperity and Me-ism or Self centered theology with a heavy dose of New age mumbo jumbo. I think that is why the prayer of Jabez (error) was so popular and became a cottage industry (basically). This scripture was taken Waaaaaaay out of context and literally applied to every doggone thing. They even made songs about enlarging territories. God help us, I don’t even want to know what the next trend will be. With this Todd Bentley nonsense, they might have people dressing up like sheep and throwing out speaking in tongues and bleating like sheep and grazing outside eating grass. I don’t think anything will surprise me. All jokes aside I am going to go back and read the book of James. It’s really sad to see all the people who have been harmed by the Todd Bentley Circus, especially the link that led to the story of the Autistic children. Very sad stories, Galations 6:7 God is not mocked….you know the rest.

    God bless you guys

  7. IndependentConservative Says:

Well what we’re seeing are not simply fads, but apostasy and scripture told us it was coming, 2 Thessalonians 2.

The “pressed down, shaken” line is one of the most abused, you’re right. Someone reading just Luke 6:38 can act like it means whatever they want. But if Luke 6 is read in full, suddenly verse 38 is more in the context of mercy.

And everyone has to remember, the Apostles did these things. They even did all that Christ said to do for what is called the “100 fold blessing”.

Mark 10:28-31 (New American Standard Bible)

28 Peter began to say to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed You.”

29 Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake,

30 but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life.

31 “But many who are first will be last, and the last, first.”

And with them doing all that, they were HOMELESS.

1 Corinthians 4:11 (New American Standard Bible)

    11 To this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, and are poorly clothed, and are roughly treated, and are homeless;

They were homeless and not living lavish at all, just as things were when they were with Christ. So how can this be? Because they did receive 100 fold, they received money to administer, never taking for themselves, always giving. They received property to administer as noted in Acts 4:32-37. Again they gave, never taking for themselves for any personal desires to live lavish. They received family in the faith, we all are their family in the body of Christ. God used them to establish the foundation for the church on Christ. They received EVERYTHING Christ said they would in this life. And they will have all Christ said they will receive in the next, Matthew 19:28.

Problem is, those who see what Christ promised with an eye of greed end up in the thorns, as I mentioned regarding my “buddy” (I use that term sarcastically) John Hagee. John Hagee Fails to Know the Sower For the Sake of Prosperity. (Video)

What Christ said the Apostles would receive, they received. Does it mean others will get the same? That is up to the Lord, but we are not guaranteed anything. We are told in James (a book I’m sure you all will read or have read already) and by Paul in 1 Timothy 6 not to have a mind for the money at all and we don’t know what we will receive. So I can’t affirm any “100 fold” in money is “guaranteed” to any of us. What comes is as the Lord wills. Those seeking money as reward fall into the snare of thorns and many sorrows.

And as Christ said, getting that 100 fold involved persecutions and the Apostles were martyrs. So those who get the 100 fold also will see big time persecution, not life like royalty in this flesh. The real reward comes after this life.

I remember I was with pimp Eddie Long when everybody was running to get copies of that Prayer of Jabez book. I finished the book and said to myself “is this what everybody is talking about??…” It probably caused me at that time to pray sometimes for material things I should not have, but I realized overall something was not right. And in time once I left Club New Birth I gained a better understanding, praise God through Jesus Christ! Then I realized what was for Jabez was for him, but for what I’ve been instructed I have no business claiming I can assert what Jabez said. As I admonished a friend who was saying that “prayer of Jabez” once the Lord granted me a better understanding of it, Jabez endured a level of suffering that not a single saint in America can even come close to imagining. So all these people saying “Jabez” prayers had better walk the trail of suffering he walked if they feel some desire to say the prayer he said. And given we are to be content with the simple basics of life, we have no guarantee anything will be “enlarged” for us in this life, even if we suffer as much or more than Jabez. And plenty saints suffered till death, receiving no wealth in this life and they were some of the BEST of us.

Our reaping is to focus on the life to come.

Xray evidence of broken arm healed.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=9MNF1BPDwE4

In the end we all believe what we want to believe.

  11. IndependentConservative Says:

    Hi Firekeep,

I saw that video earlier and actually it’s not proof of a healing at all.

If you notice, the X-rays are not even showing the same area. The first X-ray shows a small crack on the lower part of a bone, but the 2nd that is supposed to show a healing shows the upper part of a bone. And it was a pretty small crack, not a full break, which means even naturally it would heal pretty quick with a child. Although the 2nd X-Ray shows no bone calcification, which is very odd for someone who was supposed to have a break there. Given the X-rays don’t even show the same area I don’t find them to be credible.

Don’t you find it strange, that with supposedly thousands healed, that none can be verified when investigated thoroughly? Not even the names Bentley provided himself. And he’s provided no detailed report at all of what he’s done with the money that has been collected for months in Lakeland. Whenever the “healings” or the money are investigated, things turn up empty. That is totally inconsistent with what we saw from Jesus and the Apostles in scripture. On top of the fact Bentley claims God told him to “beat” some people.

In regards to doctrine, claims of healing, shady handling of the money, nothing adds up.

  12. firekeepDOTcom Says:

Darnell. Hey Yes, I watched the videos.
    Regarding the Xray.
I am no doctor, but if you look at the X-rays, and pay attention to the forearm (2 bones) and the inside of the joint, you will see that it actually is the same place shown in both Xrays.

I have absolutely no affiliation with Todd Bentley, and keep in mind I have more reason than most to be skeptical, but to be honest, many of the things that people find fault with him for are not scripturally accurate, nor logically sound.

I don’t find it strange that a media that is generally anti-Christ would not find evidence to support the existence of Christ.

Why is there a need to investigate what he is doing with money, any more than what any pastor in any town does with the money they take in?

Regarding a female Angel, did Todd say he was visited by a female angel, or are we assuming a gender based on a name?
I have no first hand knowledge on his claim regarding female angels. I’ll google it.

  13. IndependentConservative Says:

    Firekeep,

I am no doctor, but if you look at the X-rays, and pay attention to the forearm (2 bones) and the inside of the joint, you will see that it actually is the same place shown in both Xrays.

Well that makes 2 of us who are not doctors, but the area shown in the 2 Xrays with red circles are not the same spot.

many of the things that people find fault with him for are not scripturally accurate, nor logically sound.

Firekeep, you’ve probably seen this video?
    Todd Bentley Raging Revival
Now if you read 2 Corinthians 11:13-20 you see we are warned to avoid people who claim to come in the Lord’s name but are beating people. Now that is 100% bible truth and sound. This means complaints against Bentley have 100% merit and it is Bentley who is out of order.

Bentley claims to have seen a female angel. There are no female angles in scripture, never a single one. Again, it is Todd Bentley outside of scripture, not those who speak against him.

I don’t find it strange that a media that is generally anti-Christ would not find evidence to support the existence of Christ.

If somebody was healed it could be confirmed. This is ad hominem.

Why is there a need to investigate what he is doing with money, any more than what any pastor in any town does with the money they take in?

Do not the scriptures instruct us to handle money collected in a manner that is honorable before both God and men, 2 Corinthians 8:20-21? So what is being done with the money should be well investigated. Are we not to TEST ALL THINGS, 1 Thessalonians 5:21?

Regarding a female Angel, did Todd say he was visited by a female angel, or are we assuming a gender based on a name?

Todd has made it clear the angel he claims to communicate with comes in feminine tone.

I highly recommend you read the following, because there is a very dirty history regarding this “angel named Emma”
Todd Bentley’s Angel Emma Tries To Take The Place Of The Holy Spirit!

  14. IndependentConservative Says:

And Firekeep, what about the video above of the boy falling over when he was supposedly healed? Do you think the media somehow doctored video to make it appear he was falling?

As I note in my post above, even the man supposedly healed of cancer still has it.

  15. firekeepDOTcom Says:

    Hey, thanks for the discussion.

2 corinthians 8 is centered around almsgiving, and a gift given by a group of people for another that is merely stewarded by trustworthy individuals. Even so, it does not call for external investigation. It calls for integrity of the steward.

Where were the biblical precedents for the following when God called for his prophets to do them? The law actually forbade the actions.

Remember the prophet Ezekiel, and how he cooked his food over human feces to illustrate the point God wanted him to. (his actions were banned by the law).
Hosea married a prostitute. (again not something permitted in the law)
Jesus preached a sermon and told people they had to become cannibals – – – and did not explain it. All of the people listening to his sermon left considering him a heretic, except his disciples who only stayed because they had learned through relationship with Him that He alone had the words of Life.
David ate the shewbread, and Jesus later affirmed his action.

If Todd claims to have met a female angel, I agree that does not line up with my understanding of scripture, as Jesus said that humans in resurrected form are not given in marriage but are like Angels. Matthew 22:30 All accounts of angels that I have read in the Word that mention gender, mention only male gender. However to be fair, there is nothing to my knowledge in scripture that says there are no feminine angels. Anyhow, I have watched 15 or 20 of the services Todd has Led in Lakeland on God TV, and not once have I seen him exalt an Angel, or himself over God. He attributes it all to God. And let’s face it God does use Angels to accomplish His purposes.

As to the boy falling down. God heals some people and others he doesn’t. Example, in my youth group this spring (before lakeland started) God instantly miraculously healed one of the girls in my youth group who needed surgery on her appendix. However, we have prayed for people since and they were not healed. Does that mean we are in error to pray for the ones who did not get healed, or they are frauds, or we are frauds? No.

The true fruit will stand up to the test, it is good to test.

    Thanks for the discussion.

  16. IndependentConservative Says:

    Dear Firekeep,

2 corinthians 8 is centered around almsgiving, and a gift given by a group of people for another that is merely stewarded by trustworthy individuals. Even so, it does not call for external investigation. It calls for integrity of the steward.

I think you’re missing the fact that Paul was ALWAYS OPEN to checks in the management of a gift. It’s not just noted in 2 Corinthians 8, but in 1 Corinthians 16:3-4 too. Again, are we not to TEST ALL THINGS?

Nobody in Rome outside of the church was concerned about how Paul was managing a gift, but if they were, do you not feel he would be open to their scrutiny? To prove himself an honorable man to all who asked? Paul said himself of one who desires to become an elder.

1 Timothy 3:7 (New American Standard Bible)

7 And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Do you not feel he would apply the same standard to himself if questioned about his managing of finances?

    Regarding Jesus you mentioned:

…his disciples who only stayed because they had learned through relationship with Him that He alone had the words of Life.

Was it relationship or God through the Holy Spirit, that let them know who He was, Matthew 16:17? It was not simply a matter of them hanging around Him, or how could Judas have ever been Judas?

The actions of Ezekiel, Hosea and Jesus are not comparable with kicking a woman in her face when we are explicitly warned about such in 2 Corinthians 11:13-20. You have nothing to support such actions from Todd Bentley. And if you feel Todd Bentley is even near the level of Ezekiel or Hosea, you are woefully mistaken.

There are no female angels, to start claiming such is to add to scripture. Never are angels shown to assume a feminine posture. No it does not line up with scripture. You might feel Todd does not exalt himself, but evidence proves otherwise.

As to the boy falling down.

Does that mean we are in error to pray for the ones who did not get healed, or they are frauds, or we are frauds? No.

Sir, Todd Bentley claims the boy was healed and being healed right there on the stage, when in fact the boy was lame and remained that way. This is the same Todd Bentley who claims he’s see Jesus face to face and spoken to a female angel named Emma.

The true fruit will stand up to the test, it is good to test.

Exactly, so he falsely speaks of a female angel, he does exalt himself and smile of people “praising Todd and God” (see the link above), no confirmed healings not that a confirmed healing would prove he’s legitimate given false prophets bring sings and wonders of their own.

Matthew 24:24 (New American Standard Bible)

24 “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

He does not spend his time preaching the truth, but mostly doing supposed healings, that never prove to be actual healings.

He’s kicking people in the face.

What more does he need to do to show you he’s false? Rob your house? Well he does rob you in telling you to give him money as if he’s legitimate, but what does he need to do in addition to all that already proves him to be false?

Tell me, do you believe Jesus has brown eyes like Bambi? Do you believe that after the apostle Paul, another man by the name of Todd Bentley saw the risen Christ? That Jesus came down from the Right Hand of the Father, to show Todd His human form with brown eyes like “Bambi”? Do you really believe that?

  17. firekeepDOTcom Says:

Let’s settle this based soley on the word. Does anyone have any recordings of Todd either denying, or acknowledging that Jesus Christ came in the flesh?

    1 John 4

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that[a] Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

  18. IndependentConservative Says:

Yes, let’s settle this based solely on the Word. If a man comes claiming ANOTHER JESUS he is to be REJECTED, 2 Corinthians 11.

A man comes saying “yea Jesus came in the flesh” and you feel he’s speaking of the real Jesus after he’s beating people up, talking about nonexistent angels and glorifying himself?

Joseph Smith Junior who founded the cult known as Mormonism says Jesus came in the flesh too, but are you running to be a Mormon? The Watchtower Society that runs the cult known as the “Jehovah’s Witnesses” claims Jesus came in the flesh too, you seeking to be one of them? A host of CULTS claim Jesus came in the flesh, it does not make them legitimate.

I asked you several questions in my comment above. Do you mind looking at those questions and the links in detail to provide answers for my questions to you? All of which are based on the Word versus what we see Todd Bentley doing.

  19. speakingtruth Says:

    Amen IC!

All of Bentley’s “accusers” have used the Word of God to expose his wickedness and deceit – and Timothy already knows that.

Nothing more needs to be said.

  20. firekeepDOTcom Says:

IC, I will go through your questions above. Just give me some time 🙂

    Thanks for the discussion.

  21. IndependentConservative Says:

You know ST, if folks like firekeepDOTcom/Timothy understood that never in scripture did anyone claiming the Lord’s Name ever “fall backwards” from the power of God and that IN SCRIPTURE only evil doers FELL BACKWARDS, he’d be well on his way to avoiding much mess, Bentley included.

I mean if Timothy could read something like this “SLAIN IN THE SPIRIT” and gain some understanding, he will better learn what settle this based solely on the Word really means!

  22. truthintheselastdays Says:

    Hi sir,

I left a comment on your blog pretty much echoing the words of my brothers IC and speakingtruth. You can pick and choose what tests the Bible present for the accuracy of any “man of God” – you have to apply them all together…

  23. firekeepDOTcom Says:

IC, if you believe you seek the truth. I ask you to weigh this in the balance.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8R4J6gUW2-I&feature=related

I will still go back and address your questions at some point.

  24. IndependentConservative Says:

    firekeepDOTcom,

How long will you continue in delusion? There are so many who have come to see the truth, while you continue promoting a heretic. Not only do you promote him, you go to blog after blog, after blog defending HIM.

Now about this latest video you’ve posted while you still have yet to answer anything previously asked:

Regarding the guy that says he was deaf in an ear that opened up. Please tell me his doctor’s name? I mean if the guy is healed, 1 verified out of masses that could not be verified does not speak well for a man who claims to have the gift of healing. You know the little boy who went to Todd Bentley lame is not only still unable to walk straight, but was even falling down after he met Bentley. But you still have that video on your own YouTube page. No it’s not Jesus and you know that boy was not healed because you’ve seen the full investigation, but still deny it and promote the fraudulent.

Now please tell us who in scripture was a believer on the Lord Jesus Christ and fell BACKWARDS when hands were laid on them?

Some people said they don’t want to kill themselves, and I guess you wish to credit Todd for this. There are people who watch Oprah Winfrey and claim she kept them from wanting to kill themselves, does that make her godly? Janet Jackson has fan mail of people who say they wanted to kill themselves till they listened to one of her songs that speaks of self affirmation, does this make Janet godly?

Laying hands on people in the name of “boom”? And that is in your Bible where?

Have you researched the information I provided you about Bentley’s supposed angel named “Emma”? You do know he claims that “angel” is the one behind everything in Lakeland don’t you?

So Todd tells you he is “anointed” and came in the Lord’s name. Jesus warned you about fakes coming in such a manner.
Matthew 7:22-23 (New American Standard Bible)

22 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’

23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

“Liquid love”, is that in your Bible.

“Feel the heart of God beating over the stadium”??? Which apostle said they felt the heart of God beating?

LaVrai’s response to you was very appropriate and very applicable to this man you continue to defend. But when we continually show you that he’s false, not just a “little” but WAY FALSE, you keep running to his defense, because he can recite the same statement even said by DEMONS.

He laid hands on people in the name of “boom”, you remember that!

The bottom line is, this charlatan promotes himself as having a gift to heal and despite that no full investigation can prove such, you keep promoting him. Well he’s got one thing for sure, your money and that of others, while everybody with an organic illness goes home sick. He beats people up, lays hands in the name of “boom”, baptizes in the name of “bam” and you come here, showing yet another video of his. When you know, if we spoke with all those people who were sick, we’d be hard pressed to find one person that could be confirmed as healed. Men with the REAL “gift of healing” like the Apostles healed ALL that they prayed for, not a single miss when they had the gift of healing by the Holy Spirit.

Acts 5:16 (New American Standard Bible)

16 Also the people from the cities in the vicinity of Jerusalem were coming together, bringing people who were sick or afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all being healed.

No, Mr. “Boom, Bam” (Todd Bentley) does NOT have the gift of healing! And you just keep letting the “Boom, Bam” flim-flam slide. Once upon a time, con men actually had to pay people to support their scams. Bentley has people doing it for free willingly, because he’s got you all charged about hope for something temporal. I’m sure if we looked at some testimonies of people who used snake oil, they’d look like what we see from Todd Bentley endorsers.

  25. peacedaily Says:

I have been researching this bentley thing for several weeks, and I am in agreement that it is a false revival and the motive is money.
There is a Utube video that shows bentley baptising a oriental woman in the name of Father Son and Holy Bam. This is total irreverant, and the leaders in that area should have shut the services down. The deception lies in the fact that he appears to be different because of the tatoos and casual t shirts, doesn’t prove that he is called or that he is of God. As a matter of fact if you look on the utube of bentleys bam baptisms you will see a shirt with 2 rattlesnakes intwined, you can only get this tshirt in a voodoo store online according to the person who researched it on utube. This is a dangerous deception. And bentley needs to be called in to accountability and this meeting shut down.
