The Idolatry of John Sidney McCain III and Barack Hussein Obama, Junior.

This particular post is not about people making idols of them, but rather the fact McCain and Obama both engage in idolatry themselves.

This is absolutely sick and may God grant them both repentance if He wills.

Lots of luck — on campaign trail, closer to home

When the voting booths go dark, Senators Barack Obama and John McCain may have one hope left.

And this can range from a flattened penny to a poker chip.

Both presidential hopefuls have admitted that when the going gets rough on the campaign trail, they look to a few lucky charms to pave the way.

Obama showcased a pocketful of trinkets to reporters in New Mexico on Tuesday, including a lucky poker chip, an American eagle pen, and a small gold statue of a Hindu monkey god, which he said represent his faith in luck and voters.

McCain, however, has been reported to put his faith in a total of 36 cents — two nickels, one quarter and a penny found lying heads up on the ground in various cities he has campaigned in.

The Arizona senator has even likened one of his supporters, U.S. Rep. Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph), to the ultimate embodiment of luck.

The article link above has pictures of Obama showing off his “charms”.

What Obama keeps in his pocket has raised the interests of some who worship false gods.

Obama’s luck token charms Indians

NEW DELHI — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, already running ahead of his Republican rival John McCain in international popularity, has won a host of new fans in India since a photo published earlier this month revealed that he carries a tiny brass monkey king among his handful of good-luck charms.

In India the charm is presumed to be an image of Hanuman, Hinduism’s popular monkey god. So on Tuesday, a delighted Brij Mohan Bhama, a politician associated with India’s ruling party and a devotee of Hanuman, decided to boost Obama’s mojo (and chances in November) by presenting the Illinois senator with a 2-foot-high gold-plated Hanuman idol, blessed by a dozen Hindu priests in a special prayer service.

The $2,500 idol, handed to a local representative of Democrats Abroad India, a private organization that encourages U.S. Democrats overseas to vote, isn’t expected to make it beyond India’s borders given that U.S. senators are not allowed to receive such lavish gifts.

But Carolyn Sauvage-Mar, chairwoman of Democrats Abroad India, promised to pass on news of the Bhama-Obama goodwill gesture to the Democratic candidate’s campaign.

“Best wishes are free,” she said. The idol, meanwhile, is back in the hands of Bhama, who’s plotting a new way to get it to U.S. shores by November.

So you have two leading candidates for President of the United States who are idolaters. Two idolaters who claim to be Christians. Don’t suggest to me that I should consider voting for either of these men. By mandate of God, I should not even eat with them.

1 Corinthians 5:9-13 (New American Standard Bible)

9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people;

10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.

11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler–not even to eat with such a one.

12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church?

13 But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.

Perhaps this is why the early church was so against political involvement? I’ll still be voting, but you could not get me to vote for McCain or Obama even if you put a gun to my head at this point!
