Political hypocrisy at its finest!

Black conservatives conflicted on Obama campaign

WASHINGTON - Black conservative talk show host Armstrong Williams has never voted for a Democrat for president. That could change this year with Barack Obama as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

“I don’t necessarily like his policies; I don’t like much that he advocates, but for the first time in my life, history thrusts me to really seriously think about it,” Williams said. “I can honestly say I have no idea who I’m going to pull that lever for in November. And to me, that’s incredible.”

Just as Obama has touched black Democratic voters, he has engendered conflicting emotions among black Republicans. They revel over the possibility of a black president but wrestle with the thought that the Illinois senator doesn’t sit beside them ideologically.

“Among black conservatives,” Williams said, “they tell me privately, it would be very hard to vote against him in November.”

J.C. Watts, a former Oklahoma congressman who once was part of the GOP House leadership, said he’s thinking of voting for Obama. Watts said he’s still a Republican, but he criticizes his party for neglecting the black community. Black Republicans, he said, have to concede that while they might not agree with Democrats on issues, at least that party reaches out to them.

“And Obama highlights that even more,” Watts said, adding that he expects Obama to take on issues such as poverty and urban policy. “Republicans often seem indifferent to those things.”

Writer and actor Joseph C. Phillips got so excited about Obama earlier this year that he started calling himself an “Obamacan” ? Obama Republican. Phillips, who appeared on “The Cosby Show” as Denise Huxtable’s husband, Navy Lt. Martin Kendall, said he has wavered since, but he is still thinking about voting for Obama.

“I am wondering if this is the time where we get over the hump, where an Obama victory will finally, at long last, move us beyond some of the old conversations about race,” Phillips said. “That possibly, just possibly, this great country can finally be forgiven for its original sin, or find some absolution.”

Yet Phillips, author of the book “He Talk Like a White Boy,” realizes the irony of voting for a candidate based on race to get beyond race.

“We have to not judge him based on his race, but on his desirability as a political candidate,” he said. “And based on that, I have a lot of disagreements with him on a lot of issues. I go back and forth.”

Williams, the commentator, says his 82-year-old mother, who also hasn’t voted for a Democratic presidential candidate, has already made up her mind.

“She is so proud of Senator Barack Obama, and she has made it clear to all of us that she’s voting for him in November,” Williams relates. “That is historic. Every time I call her, she asks, ‘How’s Obama doing?’ They feel as if they are a part of this. Because she said, given the history of this country, she never thought she’d ever live to see this moment.”

And with that, how can any of them, or anyone that agrees with them fault any White person that votes for John McCain just because he’s White?

Armstrong Williams, J.C. Watts and Joseph C. Phillips have written volumes of how the EXACT SAME STUFF Barack Hussein Obama, Junior is pushing has caused many of the issues seen in urban areas. How Planned Parenthood that gives Obama a 100% rating, is staked out in mostly minority communities and killing Black babies at a very disproportionately high rate. But now they are for Obama and the excuses are rolling like a river. Standing firm to not endorse pro-abortion candidates can wait 4 or 8 years with them I guess :roll: .

Can you imagine if a White Presidential candidate had ties even for 1 year with someone like Jeremiah Wright how angrily these flip-floppers would attack that candidate? Obama spends 20 years with the heretic and they’re still considering Obama. Obama represents EVERYTHING they have been against and now they act like he’s good. They were against Obama winning his US Senate race, but now he’s OK with them because he “looks good” (Black) and is “so intelligent” (he can speak a sentance without fumbling a word). So now they want to act like this guy will solve problems they’ve been against him on for so long. Nevermind all the talk about only the best qualified candidate getting the job, Obama’s Black!

I have never in my life seen the hypocrisy I’ve seen during this election cycle. I mean even before Obama. Look how so-called Christians were backing Mormon Mitt Romney, when Romney’s record was as Liberal as Obama’s in many respects. (And just replace the heresy of Mormonism with the heresy of Black Liberation Theology regarding their theology.) And the hypocrisy just keeps on coming.

Well I’m not going to be a hypocrite and vote for Obama when I’ve always said he’s promoting nothing good. I’m not going to be a hypocrite and vote for Mccain when I’ve said he’s against America’s interests. And the Greens have nothing for me, I’ve already mentioned Barr is no good and the Constitution Party guy can’t figure out if he’s a pastor, doctor, or politician, so no to him too.

    What are these people smoking? Why would you even consider voting for a man that you don’t agree with at all? I have never seen so many people (including so called Christians) just throw away their moral values and common sense all for the sake of “history”. These people haven’t even taken the time to see what Obama is about, or maybe they have and just don’t care. IC you are correct in your assessment, this is just straight up racial hypocrisy. Be blessed my brotha’ and keep up the good work.

    Not shocked at all. In fact we have been recently discussing the sudden, “lets all hop on the gay train and endorse homosexuality in the churches” movement. I think there has been a MAJOR paradigm shift towards sin. Usually it’s the slippery slope effect but it seems lately that instead of sliding down we have fallen off. In other words this discussion has many facets that could be attributed to a whole bunch of different things. I don’t see much more in the way of “slowly” going down the wrong path in regards to Politics or Christianity. What I see now is a complete 180 on many different levels. Nobody is going to be coy or deceptive about there true selves anymore. Think of it like a giant “coming out” party except Homosexuality isn’t the only thing. We are going to find people who all the long were closet Liberals, closet apostates, and yes closet homosexuals.

    My vote against Obama is a vote of no confidenxe against the machine that dominates every single Black community and large city with little to no accountablity for their outcomes.

    They have more success in getting desperate people to vote against conservatives and corporations more than they can detail exactly how they have improved life now that both have cleared out and now they are on their own.

    Obama is the making of American media, advertising and entertainers who have made him into what they want him to be rather than what he really is

    Hey fellas, I did not really develop this on my post that IC linked to because I was short on time. (As a matter of fact, I shouldn’t even be making this comment but doing something else right now!) I don’t know, maybe I still have a lot of pre - tribulational dispensational rapture cult thinking in my head. But I am thinking that these guys getting behind Obama have NOTHING to do with the fact that he is black.

    I recall when Bill Cosby was asked about Obama. You know what the fellow did? The guy went into a rant about how Obama was a person of no consequence and how angry he was that so much was being made of him. Look, we have had a lot of black leaders and politicians with real potential that have come and go and guys like this didn’t support them. NONE of these guys supported Carl McCall when he was running for governor of New York. NONE of these guys supported Wellington Webb when he ran for Senate in Colorado. And McCall and Webb were QUALIFIED MODERATE BLACK DEMOCRATS WITH A CHANCE TO WIN. Had EITHER McCall OR Webb won their races, EITHER would have wiped the floor with Obama.

    So when people like Armstrong Williams - who is further to the right than 99% of our elected officials - and certified globalist Colin Powell get behind Obama, there is something going on.

    I mean come on, why didn’t the Clinton campaign raise the Jeremiah Wright issue before Super Tuesday? It is not like it was some great secret. The reason: because if she had, Clinton would have been the nominee. CLINTON WAS SUPPOSED TO LOSE, KNEW IT, AND DID HER JOB. But the Jeremiah Wright issue had to come out at some point, so they put it out immediately after Texas/Ohio, six weeks before the Pennsylvania primary. Were McCain to start talking about it now, it would be old news.

    And why is Fox News acting so foolishly, calling Michelle Obama “baby mama” and nonsense like “terrorist fist jab”? Why are knuckleheads selling Obama monkey t shirts and sock puppets? Because they know that doing that will make Obama look more sympathetic than he deserves, and make people more likely to run out and vote for him. It is just like how Kerry REFUSED to talk about Bush’s connections to the Saudi Arabian government during the 2004 campaign, plus the gay marriage ruling JUST HAPPENED to come down at the critical time. Even gay rights activists were angry at the timing of that decision and blamed it for costing Kerry the election!

    Hey, if McCain wins and it turns out that I am just a ranting conspiracy nut, I will do what Pat Robertson and Kim Clement never do and apologize. Otherwise, my position is that these “black Republicans” are on the payroll of the globalist elite and doing their job to get their guy in.

    I can’t say McCall and Webb are comparable. These guys wanted to keep up appearances till they really felt they could make “history” and THEN they jumped and showed that despite all they say against race preferences, it is a major factor for them. I think they were just waiting for the right moment.

    I didn’t mention Powell, because he has not indicated who he’s for yet. Although Powell is rather Liberal. I would not be surprised if Powell supported Obama because he really did like Obama’s policies. And you know Powell was on the Obama payroll for a while.

    The Jeremiah Wright issue was an issue last year, never mind Super Tuesday. It’s been simmering and Hillary left it alone because it was a flame she didn’t need to light, it was already burning. And you know Hillary loves going into those same spots when she could. So of course she was not going to play it up herself. Can’t say I’m with you on the “she ran with the intent to lose” claim. She even started dunking personal assets into her effort.

    Because they know that doing that will make Obama look more sympathetic than he deserves, and make people more likely to run out and vote for him.

    Uh, no I’m not at all seeing what you’re seeing on that brother. I don’t think the guy down in GA who felt Obama resembled Curious George (and he does, but nobody complained when pics were made comparing GWB’s expressions to a monkey) was in the CFR loop. No I’m not seeing the “orchestrated” reverse sympathy angle.

    Even if Obama wins, I think you’re a ranting conspiracy nut on some things, but you know you’re my brother ;) .

    What was known ahead of time, is if Obama were to have a real chance at winning, some of these “Black Conservatives” would support him. I don’t think the exact names were known or paid for what they’ve done.

    A globalist hand in the names on the ballot? Very likely. At the level of detail you’re claiming in relation to the exact people mentioned in the article above? No.

    IC,could it be that the idolatrous American main stream media propaganda beast machine is presenting to the undiscerning masses the great distraction from the real issues and truth. Obama is the hot thing now! I call it Obama season!

    Black conservatives are falling in line to say the “politically correct” thing by even mentioning they will cross lines and vote for Obama. It is a calculated strategy.

    Just my humble opinion, it’s like the MSM wants to make history and right now, Obama is the hot stock to ride! Most discerning Christians know the real news and the true news–that Obama is not displaying true fruit of a Christian. Based on who is endorsing Obama and his ultra left wing voting record–black Christians are chosing this Saul rather than the word of GOD be their king. Too many of us have our eyes on man and not on GOD!

    Obama is doing what George W. Bush did in 2000 and 2004 to get votes from Christians. Bush used his base. Obama is using the liberal MSM to get elected.

    I’m like you IC. I happen to be registered in always Democratioc heavily black upper middle class Prince George’s MD as an independent. My loyalties are to JESUS CHRIST and HIM Alone!

    And I can think of other reasons why 2 of the 3 I mentioned are backing Obama.

    Armstrong Williams has been trying to regrow his image ever since it was shrunk to nothing. His radio show is on the usually Black Liberal XM Radio station “The Power”. So him backing Obama plays well with that crowd.

    JC Watts is trying to start a “Black News” Channel. He’s still looking for some big money funding and trying to get the thing off the ground. His backing Obama plays well to the base he’s trying to reach for his station AND potential donors that would desire to fund his effort. It’s not a decidedly “Conservative” or “Republican” station proposal, so he can’t count on his old close political contacts for funds.

    Those two I’m pretty sure those are some of their motivates, even if they might deny it if asked publicly.

    Joseph C. Phillips, I’m just speculating and was not going to mention him. But he is an actor. The most Liberal of industries in the most Liberal of towns. Everybody he’s working with probably adores Obama. So he’s got a motivating reason with that to back Obama. It will probably help him remain well employed. I will note he’s had to deal with bucking the “Liberal” trend before, but never before has their been an “Obama”.

    So all 3 of those men have potential money making motivations for supporting Obama and being very open and vocal about it in the MSM.

    Like I mentioned, standing firm to not endorse pro-abortion candidates can wait 4 or 8 years with them I guess :roll: .

    With Bush, we can claim we didn’t know then what we know now. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it :D . And it’s the truth!) But with Obama, we see what he is from the jump. There’s no excuse for anyone who claims to stand against what he promotes to be backing him now.

    Ok….IC….You have been waiting for me to yell Uncle for a long time. UNCLE….I give up brother. If this is the way the world wants to go, I say let it go.

    I have worked for so long to push forward the conservative cause. From a teenager knocking on doors, to running College Republicans. From working on many political campaigns to giving money to conservative and Republican causes. However, every time I turn around, I am getting stabbed in the back by the liberal Repubs, the log cabin (pro gay) GOPers, the so called black conservatives, the pro-abortion so called conservative women, the spending like sailor GOPers in Congress. I am sick of it.

    I throw in the towel. I just turn it over to God and say,” YOUR WILL FATHER BE DONE……COME QUICKLY LORD JESUS!!”
