Many of us are in shock today. I mean real shock. We figure that while a false teacher is a false teacher, that they might have some sort of standards, although we know they adore money. But obviously adoration of money removes all standards.
So everybody is reading this post over at Gay Christian Movement Watch today and it’s a shocker!
When I first saw that post this AM, I thought it was just about some dirty Deacon. I read the first few sentences and said to myself I’d read it later. (I mean we’re so desensitized to dirty deeds by people claiming the Lord’s name, it’s not such a big shock to hear some Deacon was dirty.) Then my brother Speaking Truth told me to read it. And once past the first paragraph the real shocker hit.
Regarding Eddie L. Long, I mentioned long ago how he did a total 180 regarding his dealings with Louis Farrakhan aka Farra-the-Con. From literally giving us a document (which I have a copy of in that post linked in the previous sentence) with scripture detailing why we should always avoid Farrakhan. And on that he was absolutely correct. Then he ended up yucking it up with the pagan. Totally turning against his prior stance. By the time Long got cozy with Farra-the-Con the Lord had already gotten me out of his club. Praise God through Jesus Christ, for the Holy Spirit guiding me away and away from false prosperity doctrine and away from Word of Faith heresy.
Now it seems Eddie is once again going back on his old word. Once upon a time Long would NOT STAND for the sin of homosexuality. Well that’s the appearance he gave to the world. As I mentioned in a prior post:

And he would refuse to speak with homosexual groups that called themselves Christian back then. Well now Eddie Long has gone from show piece stands against homosexuality, to literally having homosexuals who have heard the gospel before, but refuse to repent and even claim God approves of their homosexuality into his church club building. Had them in, gave them a breakfast before one of his church services shows, provided them special seating in his building during the show and after the show met with them. But see the post over at GCM Watch, it points to the pictures and all. Never mind the 1 Corinthians 5 admonishment to avoid so-called brothers who are sexually immoral. And never mind the admonishment of James 2 to never show partiality in seating. (Just think of the thousands paying Eddie Long so much money, never having him give them a cookie and never allowed a private meeting with him. No special meetings, heresy and a seat wherever they can find one is what his “church members” get. While he caters to anti-gospel unrepentant reprobates, openly engaged in abominations.) I guess now the way to look good is to have the unrepentant gospel refusing heresy spewers in and give them special treatment. Well Eddie Long spews much heresy, so why am I so shocked? I guess I should not be shocked at all. Long is actually being consistent in his hypocrisy. He’s doing what looks good to the eyes of men, as always not upholding a scripture based godly standard. Like his buddy and “spiritual father” TD Jakes who had the reprobates in.
Really though, I would like to see Eddie Long and others repent of their evil one day. So I guess I open the web browser sometimes looking to see if perhaps they’ve turned for better. And so the shock is that with all they claim to uphold in righteousness, they only turn for worse. Because their brand of “righteousness” is a false gospel. I guess I would hope that they might use their Bibles for a serious read one day, rather than a pimping tool. 1 Timothy 6 has been rebuking Eddie Long for a long time and it rebuked me for years till I actually read it with the Holy Spirit giving me understanding of words written in plain English.
So the sad shocks continue. Watching heretics spiral downward faster with each passing day. All for love of money, Matthew 6:24 [click to expand link].

A lot of these so call preachers are living in sin, so they cannot preach on sin, they have to create another gospel. I was told by a bishop that a lot of these men are living closeted homosexual lives. She should know, they are her friends and associates. Like Hagee, he is just having a change of heart. I wonder if they ever believed what they preached before, and if they did, how much money they received for their souls.

Period.
If they did, then (for example) why do they expect you to give and “exercise your faith” while they sit back and rake in your hard-earned money? I mean really, if they did believe in “supernatural” sowing, then they would practice it…WITH THEIR OWN MONEY
Also, these pimps are selling their souls in order to enjoy they fame, fortune, and noteriety that they get from the world today. You see rascoe1, it’s unprofitable to stand for righteousness – too unpopular, offends too many people.
If you want to appeal to the world (and keep your hands in their pockets), then you’ve got to sing a song that they will dance to
So, Eddie, T.D., Joel, and various other tissue-paper see through pimp are “bending” to the will of this reprobate lobby (no pun intended) because they have mortgages, car notes, and credit card bills to pay – and the reprobates pay well when they are comfortable with your message.
This is a serious call for prayer for the Body of Christ. While we know that Christ foretold of what we would see prior to His impending return, it’s still disheartning to see the degeneration of holiness – and the desecration of the liberating Gospel of God through Jesus Christ.
I need an aspirin…

Bro speakingtruth, if they really believed in “exercising faith” and “sowing to reap” they would not be hoarding (millions in the bank), spending foolishly and living lavishly, while all they have to do is walk a few miles from their mansions to find fertile soil to sow in. Say people, (being too lazy to search the scriptures for themselves), are ignorant of the Word, how can they not see anything wrong with the lifestyles of these people. Ther is so much lack around us. My thing is, until poverty is totally eradicated from the neighborhood each church is in, then all adjacent neighborhoods, making it the country as a whole,then the neighboring countries and then the world at large, there is no room for pastors to keep back all of that money for themself. They are so pampered and filled with pride, to them Gods’ rules are not current, so they create and embrace unsound doctrine and dilute the Word of God, forgetting that they should neither add nor subtract from it.

The church is to care for the saints first and foremost. Then to others in outreach ministry, or if they are in dire need even an enemy gets help, Romans 12:20. But the saints come first. With people such as Eddie Long, even those who are MEMBERS of his group that seek help when in need get little and sometimes nothing in return. If they have not been paying into the 10% scam, I’ve been informed they are sometimes told the church should not help them because they didn’t pay “tithes”. And even those paying 10% see little when asking for help.

IC, you are very true to form, asserting the proper order of help distribution from the church.
I could not help but think of how the metro Atlanta area has seen its dubious share of “downs” in recent years. I do not know of any other major city in the country that has experienced the variety of disasters in recent time (tornadoes, extreme drought, home foreclosures, etc.) AND be home to seemingly more mega-churches (World Changers, Cathedral of the Holy Spirit (Earl Paulk), New Birth, Free Chapel (Jentezen Franklin), TBN studios). It made me think of 2 Chronicles 7:14.
I know this is for all saints, but those in the Atlanta area, quite frankly, need to wake up. If what I have outlined does not do it, I can’t think of much else that will.

Oh my brothers, some of the things I learnt from my former “college” church I will not say, as I have no witness to back me up. I was very close to the two bishops, privy to a LOT of intimate details, and left with a bad taste in my mouth and absolutely zero trust for these pimps. Has any of you ever heard of “Jesus People Ministries” in Miami. IC, they are a fine eg of what you said about helping the MEMBERS. I know of at least two tithe paying members in need, that was turned away. I know of a poor family that needed help for a pregnant teenager, that was turned away, I know of a single mother, christian, whos daughter had one more term in a prominent university, but was having financial difficulties, that was turned away and told by one of the MINISTERS that she would be kept in their prayer. The Body of Christ is hurting and these people are caught up their own pimpdom. Its a game, and they are all playing it, trying to out do each other to see who can live in the biggest house, drive the most expensive cars, own the most planes etc. While people are living in sin and gravitating to false religions, they have no trust in christianity and consider christians to be a bunch of hypocrites. They dont understand that it is not about what man do, but all about WHO GOD IS. Who can they trust to tell them. So religions like Scientology, etc and foolishness like the The Secret, is embraced by them.

Well ncatina, it is interesting, but I can’t apply 2 Chronicles 7:14 to our time in terms of money, although in the physical sense it was applicable to the physical nation of Israel under the Old Covenant. (In the New Testament forward Christian saints who were very good people endured much poverty. The money comes as the Lord wills and we are content in lack or wealth.) Now that verse is applicable to us, but not towards our material finances. Rather it is applicable to our souls. If those who are called by God repent on the Lord Jesus He will forgive their sins and heal them. And those actually called, the elect do repent. All the elect of God will join Jesus, because He won’t lose a single one given to Him from the Father before the foundation of the world.
Those under the delusion of money doctrines need to wake up. What they are going to lose is going to be far worse and more eternal than money if they keep making money their god. And even any of them that have Christ while entertaining gross error, they’ll suffer loss in the kingdom of God, 1 Corinthians 3:11-15. The “prosperity doctrine” at best inverts what true prosperity is.
rascoe1 – I never heard of that group, but when a group can’t take care of its own, we can’t even begin to talk about them reaching out to others. Sounds like a group that’s headed for the wrong side of Matthew 25:31-46. That ends in the lake of fire. Good you got out. Because any pastor there will have a lot to answer for come judgement if they do not repent. And you would not want any of that evil misleading you in how you conduct yourself.

As for your post at GCM Watch about Eddie wearing tight shirts to impress the gay men, well I’m not so sure. Personally IC I think Eddie is SO narcissistic that he would do it in front of ANY crowd to get his own ego stroked. Heck! that guy would wear that in front of a bunch of third graders so they would be impressed by his arms. Just my opinion but I think he is so narcissistic that any group would be game when your ego is that big .

Remove the Reality of Sin and You take away the possibility of Repentance,Eddie Long and The Ones We are all aware of do not Care about that fact, If They Preach the Bible Ears Will Not get tingled with The Promise of Worldly Goods,and Worldly Bliss, but Conviction, Conviction and Godly Repentance that will bring them to the Real Cross of Jesus Christ.Where has Sin Gone?Is No one Guilty of Anything?Any admissions of guilt today is incompatible with Eddie Longs Theology and so many others of this day Who are Self-Proclaimed Prophets and Evangelists.Scripture predicted Times and People Just like these.We must be diligent to pray for those who are being Mislead and To as John Prayed to “keep us from the evil One” who is at Work in the Eddie Longs of this World.

I am typing as I sadly shake my head. I am sure that were he still alive, Dr. Edwin L. Cole would weep, as he watches the behaviors of these men that he mentored, Long being one in particular.(The are several other notables who have become pimps, but I will not name them here) I remember ‘Bishop’ Long as a humble man, a man who understood the depth of Grace and Mercy afforded him by the Lord Jesus. A man who was intent on preaching the Gospel without fluff or frill, who knew that the scorn and derision that he faced as a child (The nickname that hurt him most was ‘Eddie Lee Long Head’) had prepared him for the derision he would face in later life because of his stand for Christ…
That man is gone.
The badly balding yet greasy-haired, muscle-shirted, rap CD appearing, spinning rims having, narcissistic buffoon that I see on TV now, is still unbelievable to me.
I pray for God’s mercy upon his soul, because he is responsible for leading sheep astray…

Seriously, I thank God that you’ve come forward to expound a little on your knowledge of the “pre-bishop” Eddie Long – on this site (as well as when you did it on my blog).
Many people tell me privately that Eddie Long is not the same man that he used to be. Some have even said that he’s too caught up in all of the “stuff” to really repent and return to the true Gospel because lots of other people enjoy the benefits of his revenue stream as well – and his return to holiness would cost him (and alot of people) a lot of money
If that’s true, then this just get more tragically sad day after day…

When I spoke with someone who was of the “original” group of NB members, they said Long “changed” over the years. They see how he’s about himself now, but some still remain there. 1 Timothy 6 says to FLEE. Not remain in bad teaching waiting to see if things might change after seeing this mess go on for many years.

I visited his website out of curiosity and Noticed the orientation a Person Must go through to Become a undiscerning Victim Of the Bishop..of course there are 3 Levels You are required to attend to Be considered to Membership..here’s the wording,To lay a common foundation of understanding and teaching for the new citizen pertaining to our Bishop’s vision, our beliefs, doctrines, ministries and services.What about the Vision God Has Chosen for Our Light with Jesus alone as Our example.The Blasphemy of Eddie Long Is Sickening.

Airbrush, I’d say your screen name says it all when it comes to Long and others of his ilk. From what you have summarized from his site, I find the whole pratice of “orientation classes” to be a very common one among many churches. I was a part of two congregations (and have visited others) that have and promote “new members classes” They are more interested in having you be asssimilated with the “beliefs, doctrines, ministries and services” of the “pastor” and the “church” than that of Christ.
Such churches do nothing to help develop individuals within these congregations. They are desgined to amass and train people undiscerening and ill prepared to see and confront the obvious self-aggrandizing ways and methods of the “leaders.” Favor is gained by the “leadership” consummate to the person’s ability to unquestionably align themselves to the beliefs and doctrines (even if anti-biblical, but made to look otherwise) of the institution, as well as give over inumerable amounts of time, money and energy to the cause. It is at this point that the audiences are prime to receive apostasy.
I pray with the start of each Sunday morning that God opens the eyes of those caught in these abominable systems. It is so sorely needed.

Airbrush, as I think about it further, this is also how people are developed to be flunkies for the “church” and “leaders.” Aside from what I previously posted, the methods by which people are assimilated into the cult, there is a breaking process for those that do happen to come with a degree of biblical knowledge and ministerial responsibility.
I have a great friend that shared stories of our last pastor similiar to what IC has described regarding Eddie Long. He was also very heavily involved with and in the ministry, having a great degree of biblical knowledge in his own right. At one point, he was very close to this pastor; started out quite humble. As time moved forward, my friend discovered very subtle and disturbing changes with this pastor. As the congregation, and his name recognitiion grew, so did the pastor’s ego. (Theologically speaking, the man is very abrasive in his delivery, but, from my knowledge, does not promote homosexuality.) Needless to say, humility was no longer a part of this pastor’s character leading him to leave the congregation.
This leads into the point of the process of breaking the spirits of people when new people join the group. All manner of inidividual thoughts, opinions and methods are taught to be squashed for the sake of “…being on one accord.” If you do not conform, you are a dissenter, rebel and a cast-off. I read the most recent post IC placed on the board yesterday concerning Long’s involvement with Soulforce. In it, it contains DL Foster’s letter to Long including the insulting treatment he received from other “leaders” when inquiring about the Long/Soulforce meeting. This mirrors the treatment my friend endured with our last pastor.
These are all examples of pride from which, I understand, leads to a great fall.
