Hello Pookie.
Your interaction with your friend sounds much like the parable of the sower, where the word falls into three kinds of bad soil. The truth gets destroyed in them.
Repentance is always a possibility. People can break up their fallow ground, or get rid of the rocks in their soil or stop sowing among thorns.
The appeal of these emotional highs (as IC called them above), is really a test. The Lord told the released Israelites that He tested them with the "bread of adversity." He also gave them manna, but they desired the "physical high" of meat. Manna was not enough for them, so too, the gospel's main promise of salvation from sin is not enough either. What is happening today is the same test of deprivation. God uses deprivation as a test in life to prove where our loyalties lie. Will we stick to the truth of the apostolic gospel, or chase other Jesuses or other spirits as the Bentleys of the world are offering?

Jesus, knowing Peter would commit arguably the worst of sins, denial of the Lord, prayed that his faith would not fail him. I think this is a good prayer to pray for those wandering away from the faith. If a person has true faith, he may wander through weakness of the flesh; however, they can be brought back through repentance. So, don't give up praying that she comes to acknowledge the truth.

A lot of us have had to cut some ties. I can't say it left me with a sense that I should stop praying for anyone I had to cut ties with. I mean if you don't pray for them, who will? It's not like their friends who are in agreement with them will pray that perhaps the Lord might will for them to see Todd Bentley for the liar that he is. They're all too busy getting their <em>"fresh anooooooooointings" (emotional highs)</em>.

If you have to cut ties with someone, plenty of us have been where you are in that regard. But I think you've got more reason to pray for them now than when you felt they might listen to you.

Okay,
I have a question...I hope that in asking this, I don't sound callous. I have a 70 year old friend that emailed me to say that she was going to Lakeland because she heard that "revival" (i use the term loosely) was breaking out. She said that she was going to get a fresh anointing...I gave her warning after warning, at first she considered what I said, but then decided to go after one of her friends refuted everything I said (which was biblical). I even pleaded with her not to allow Todd Bentley or anyone of his ministers lay hands on her. I guess my question is, is there ever a time when you've warned people and they continue on the path that leads to destruction, that you stop praying for them? That you break ties with them? Again, I'm sorry if I sound callous or unloving. I love my sister very much, but she doesn't heed the warning.

OKAAYEEEE!!! and after saying all of that!!! I still didn't say anything about him trying to have himself declared the heavyweight champion of the PULPIT!!! This man is a Charlatan!!! I notice that he has stayed put in Florida, apparently that congregation has suffered from repeated head trauma. You know the type of head trauma that keeps you from thinking right, and realizing you've been had! I thought getting heavy handed whap on the forehead by a minister trying to make himself look good was bad enough. However years of shaking off stars and staggering back to my seat from forehand whaps are nothing compared to this junk! This guy must have on boxing gloves at the altar! His altar workers are probably all RN's and paramedics (I hope), My lord do they have a recovery room at that church? You know a place to lay down after you have been decked by the pastor.. just in case you need some stitches, an x-ray, dentistry, you know little stuff like that....

Huuuuuuuuh Todd Todd Todd.... What on earth are we to do with this clown?? I can find a ready scripture that describes the people that continue to sit under his so called ministry..(2Ti 4:2). "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." Once again I found someone who couldn't have said it better..here are a few quotes from a website I found today.."Preach the Word! That's what it says! It doesn't say, "Preach about miracles, preach about angels, preach about extra-scriptural revelations, preach about coming revivals, etc" -it says PREACH THE WORD OF GOD! Sharp, plain, pure, preaching of the Word of God should be the primary mark of a true revival! Then it says to reprove and rebuke. Where is the reproving and rebuking in this "revival", of calling out sin and proclaiming the judgment of God upon an apostate church? Where is the exhorting, the spuring on to love and holiness, the sound scriptural exhortation with sound doctrine and clear Biblical exegesis? It's not in Lakeland! Nor is it in Todd's ministry!"

"The time has already come that the masses of professing Christians don't want to hear or endure sound doctrine that pricks to the heart and strikes the heart of man with the fear of the Living God, that preaches hard against sin and calls for true and deep repentance, that exalts the risen Christ and expounds and applies His commandments as necessary for salvation. This revival is not a revival of Scriptural doctrine or of practical holiness, it is a revival of ear-tickling prophecies and false revelations purporting to be of God. The people's ears are turned away from the sound truth of the Holy Scriptures and are turned unto the fables of angelic experiences and slick stories these men either delude themselves into believing or else just make up (such as Todd's claim to have ascended into the Third Heaven and visited the Apostle Paul's cabin and had a conversation with him over who wrote the book of Hebrews, or of a female angel that brings financial prosperity and manifests gold dust!)."

"(2Co 11:4). For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. The "spirit" that Todd Bentley is operating under is causing manifestations that DO NOT APPEAR anywhere in the Bible. He has been known to cause animal manifestations as well (clucking like chickens, barking like dogs, etc.), all of which are manifestations that have long been associated with pagan and heathen religions but are found nowhere in Scripture, except with Nebuchadnezzar at the judgment of God."
"(Mat 7:22-23). Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

"Note, just because somebody:
1. Calls Jesus "Lord"
2. Prophesies
3. Casts out demons
4. Does many *wonderful* works (which includes healing people)"

"Just because they do all these things DOES NOT mean they are of God! It's not a few, but MANY, that do these things and do not belong to the true Jesus of the Bible. The Catholic Church still does genuine exorcisms (casting out demons) to this day but they are serious idolaters who preach 'another gospel'. Signs and wonders is no proof of being genuine or not. The only way we can tell is by:

1. The doctrine of the teacher (2 John)
2. The fruit of their life (Mat. 7)
3. Discerning of the spirit they operate under (1 Cor 12)"

"The prophet or teacher does not need to fail in all three of these tests to be false; he just has to fail in one. And as we have already examined these three things in the light of Todd Bentley and his ministry, and seen that he cannot be of God, we are left with only one thing to do:

COME OUT FROM THE MIDST OF THIS END TIME DELUSION!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!

<i>you can't be Word of Faith if you hold to a biblical view of the anointing.</i>

True. The term is being used to get away with anything and for the people to accept any manifestation being claimed by the minister. It's a buzz word that glazes over the eyes of the audience and allows a corporate experience to occur.

Ooooh, can you feel the anointing?? Oh, yes, here comes the glow-rah!! (People start yelling, dancing, falling, twirling, etc. as a general feeling of elation and excitement hits the room.) I used to believe in this to some degree, but later, after coming out, I could not find any biblical passage that describes the Spirit's activity or "anointing" or "glory" in any such terms as we generally took it in our church experience. Bible <i>has</i> to win over experience, if you are not to be deceived.

As shocking as the audio is, I'm not surprised.

Stan, you know you can't be Word of Faith if you hold to a biblical view of the anointing. The entire Word of Faith hyper charismatic bunch will run around a room all night, acting in ways that outsiders see as madness and they'll walk out saying <em>"the anointing was strong tonight...the pastor was so anointed...I felt the anointing in there...the anointing fell all over us...the music was anointed...people were falling back from the power of the anointing"</em>...

I don't know if this has been posted, but this was found on "Living In The Way" blog. Scroll down a bit to a small audio player link to listen to Todd Bentley explaining the Anointing.

Thank u much for the post about TB. I never heard of him and never thought I would come in contact with anyone or a church that knew of a TB. Well Guess what I went to a friend's church and they said something about TB. It is the same TB. I need to warn my friend. This church watches the telecast in the God Channel. I should have known this was not a good church because....a woman was preaching, they "allow" children to lay hands and hill".
Thanks,

Just my two cents...

Well Guess what I went to a friend’s church and they said something about TB. It is the same TB. I need to warn my friend. This church watches the telecast in the God Channel. I should have known this was not a good church because….a woman was preaching, they “allow” children to lay hands and hill”.
Thanks,

Just my two cents…

Could you see Jesus walking around hitting people like Todd does and advocates? No! The bible tells us Jesus was lowly and gentle and caring:

MT 11:29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

The revival is being held with the support of Stephen Strader who is not a gentle person at all but very violent in his words and doesn't take kindly to critics. In other words he is quite fleshly and I know that through my dealing with him. He believes that pastors are God's special people who are loved more than the sheep they minister too even though God is no respecter of persons and shows partiality to no one.

Steve is so deceived that he still doesn't believe his brother Dan was guilty of any crime even though he was sentenced to 45 years in jail! In other words these revivalists are so smart they have no discernment whatsoever!
