Read the blog post titled Is TD Jakes going gay christian friendly? over at Gay Christian Movement Watch.
Keep in mind, the group calling it’s self “Soulforce” is not a group of sinners who never heard the gospel message. They know of the message and repeatedly REJECT the truth that they should seek to turn away from the sin of homosexual behavior. So much so, that they’re going out to try and turn others to their reprobate way of thinking. They follow a false god called their own flesh and deserve no conversation, as is noted in the post linked above.
And the above is FAR FROM being the only issue with TD Jakes, but you can see more of his many issues in some of the links below.

I have a dilemma, my brother is a homosexual. I love my brother very much and believe in showing him the love of God even though I believe his lifestyle is very wrong. He lives in Jamaica, I think he knows my belief, but I am not quite sure. We email each other regularly and I always glorify God in our emails, but I find it too delicate a subject to discuss if we are not face to face. I really do not want to isolate him as my father did that to him. My father was not even saved , he was just a homophobic. Please give me your thoughts.

rascoe1 - Keep in mind the instructions noted in 1 Corinthians 5 are for members of the church regarding disassociation from people who claim to be Christians, but promote sin rather than the truth of repentance from sin, homosexuality included.
Not that I know much about Jamaica other than what I’ve read and seen in short trips there, but I doubt they’ve got groups such as “Soulforce” there, claiming to be Christians and homosexuals.
So your brother, as anyone who has not yet been saved is of the unsaved. We are to love him and tell him about Jesus. If the day comes that he calls on the name of the Lord, then at that time you would want to address any sins as speaking to someone who claims the Lord’s name. You know your brother, if he’s claiming to be a Christian now, he’s got to understand homosexuality is sin and not for a Christian, that God does not approve.
There is a very real and dangerous health aspect to what your brother is doing. While you’re telling him about the Lord Jesus, you might want to advise him that you are concerned about his physical well being as well.

Rascoe1,yes,love your brother that is scripturally correct.Love him enough to speak the Truth in love-his eternity depends on it.It is your job to spread the gospel,it is the Lord’s job to unveil his eyes. The Lord will respond to the very intent of your brother’s heart.Eternity is less than a breath away;time may not permit you to see him then tell him Truth. The devil is not bashful so we can’t be either. The is one of the most powerful demonic forces on this earth:homosexuality. You absolutely must have quiet time with God so that He can begin to give you strategies of how to snatch your brother out of the gates of hell. This will cast the fear out of you and you will be able to interact with him with boldness and love.As you spend time with the Lord, sharing your very heart and things you’re unable to say to anyone else you’ll see the urgency we’re faced with. You’ll continue to “shoot the breeze” by email but the Lord Himself will inject a few words here and there that are able to penetrate your brothers heart and begin to awaken him to what’s right/wrong.Don’t be afraid if the devil retaliates and send you false spirits of guilt or even rejection from your brother-eternity is a long, long time and you want to face God knowing you did what He requires us to do;I have several siblings are hell bound but I dare not try to keep a brother/sister while carelessly losing a soul.I love and accept them as they are and becuase I love them, the Lord makes time to interject his pure word with no judgment. In the fight with ya! Responding.

I know what the Word says about homosexuality and from all practicality there cannot be anything right about it, but how do you show Gods love to the homosexuals, without condoning the act itself.
IndependentConservative reply on May 29th, 2008 at 2:14 pm :
You know other people who are not saved. They are OK with various sins I’m sure. You love the homosexual as anyone else in sin. You don’t approve of any sin, but you let that person know they need Jesus.

I dont know if “soulforce” is there, but I would not be surprised if they were. The homosexual ajenda is there as strong as it is here. Years aso Jamaican were less liberal, so that makes it harder for them. Most Jamaican homosexuals are in the “closet”, for fear of mob beatings, I am ashame to say. I strongly believe that my brother has ambivolent feelings about the Lord and I guess it has to do with his lifestyle. He speaks of the Lord, but I dont think he has made a lasting covenant with Him. I have not been praying for him to turn from his ways and I am going to make it my duty to do so until he gets convicted that it is a sin.

The gay church movement has indeed moved into Jamaica. reference

rascoe,
having traveled to Jamaica 3 years in a row ministering openly to homosexual strugglers there, I never saw the level of homophobia that I hear of in the media. That is not to discount that some homosexuals there are not violently attacked and their lives taken unjustly. It should be put in context. Of all the murders in unfortunately occur in Jamaica, just how many are homosexual victims? Every life is precious but dont allow activists to use the murder of a few for political purposes.
I went to many parts of Kingston and rural Jamaica. In Kingston I saw and encountered gays who were obvious and open and not once did I witness anyone act hostile to them. Most seemed to preoccupied with their own business to notice them.
I also encountered a tremendous group of young Jamaican Christians led by Craig McNally who proclaimed a solid message of biblical freedom and love for those in homosexuality.
On the issue of your brother, always use the scriptures as your guide, not your emotions. That’s if you want to be obedient to God regardless of the outcome. If your brother is a sinner who does not claim to be a Christian, then the “shunning” admonishment of 1 Cor 5 does not apply to him. That’s clear. If he is, then you use wisdom and let the Holy Spirit fill in the blanks. I too have brothers who arent saved. I love them with all my heart and would come running if they asked me too. So I understand where you are coming from.
Whats most important it seems is to understand the intent of the shunning of those mentioned in 1 Cor 5. It is so that by cutting off the “protection” of the church, they will turn to God. If they harden their hearts, they are in his hand. If they humble themselves and repent we are to receive them with glad hearts.

Thank you for chiming in.
I know when I’ve been to Jamaica, I saw men in full drag posing for pictures and nobody seemed to care. We who had never been to Jamaica and were seeing it for the first time were the ones in noticeable shock, that dudes were prancing around in full drag seeking for someone to take a photo of them. All the locals seemed to see it as an everyday occurrence and it was. I figure if violence against homosexuals was as bad as it’s made out to be in the media, such a person would not be seen at all.
I’ve read there is some violence against homosexuals in Jamaica, but those with an agenda do like to play up things. I do know that music artists there say some harsh things about what should be done to homosexuals at times. Unlike the entertainment folks here who pretty much encourage homosexual sin, some artists in Jamaica seem to take a harsh line against certain sin they don’t like while their own material is laden with sin. Which is pretty hypocritical, to speak against one sin in your music, while openly promoting other sin of a sexual nature.

DL, believe me as a Jamaican I can assure you that over the years homosexuals have been beaten, and this has nothing to do with political violence (that’s another subject). They are a little less hostile now but the under tone is still the same. I will speak to my brother about it, but as I said before I would prefer to do it face to face. Until then I will just pray that the Lord will give him a distaste for it, nothing is impossible. IC, people always try to justify their own behavior, not accepting that God sees all sin as sin, non greater or smaller than the other. We like to believe that envy, gossiping, slander and all manner of hateful behavior is is a notch above such things as homosexuality. I was told this on more than one occassion, but my bible tells me that God sees all sin the same and he consider them all wicked and vile. Thanks again
IndependentConservative reply on May 29th, 2008 at 5:16 pm :
God does not tolerate any sin, although some sin is in the category of being explicitly hated and abominations, not all sin falls in that category and not all sin resulted in death by stoning under Mosaic Law. And even now some sin can make one “worse” than an unbeliever as noted in 1 Timothy 5:8. Still nobody can measure up to God’s perfect standard of no sin, only Jesus could and that’s why we need Him. That’s something I detail and the reasons why in this old post:

IC, thanks for helping to sound the alarm of TD Jakes. I am still astonished that there has been no voice of opposition from any of the Word Network mega preachers. Its very telling about what they will and will not speak out about. A friend of mine in Dallas who used to be a member of PH said that they are watching each other’s backs.
Perhaps soon God will allow the black Ted Haggard to be exposed.
IndependentConservative reply on May 29th, 2008 at 5:35 pm :

SteelGator reply on May 30th, 2008 at 1:27 pm :
Black Ted Haggard……lol….I always wondered about T.D. Jakes lisp.
All kidding aside, Jakes is just showing another example of why he is a false teacher.
DL Foster reply on May 31st, 2008 at 12:14 pm :
I do need to clarify my remarks re the above. I was not referring to TD Jakes specifically as “the black Ted Haggard”, I meant to use it in a general sense although I can understand why that parallel, given what is traspiring in his theology can be drawn. I am still disturbed at his calling Soulforce personally to thank them for coming to the PH. Was that really necessary? Why is he making a special effort to connect with people who despise what he is allegedly teaching? Did you know that the PH has a policy against taking pictures or video in the sanctuary, but Soulforce took pictures of themselves in the sanctuary and posted them on the web? They get an effusing thanks for violating “policy”? What is really going on with the mega mess?

If it was Jakes’ table, then it was a table of reprobates already. Seriously, I see no difference between what Jakes does and homosexuality. If anything, what Jakes, Crouch, Hagin, Hinn, Copeland, Graham, Robertson, Schuller, Warren, McManus, McLaren, Dobson, etc. are doing is an even bigger abomination than is homosexuality.
IndependentConservative reply on June 3rd, 2008 at 12:25 pm :
You are very correct. And for anyone wondering, that is all detailed in the “Related posts” that are linked above.

It looks like Jakes is planning a trip to South Africa to pimp the locals in October - I guess he’ll have to tape a few shows before he leaves…
Do you think Dr. Phil will be preening on stage at Mega Fest South Africa?

Rascoe1, I’m writing in response to your post where you mentioned that no sin is greater than the other. Well I don’t totally agree with you.In Matt.12v31-32, Christ says,”Every blasphemy will be forgiven but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” So some sins are indeed weightier than others.
Again, the Bible in 1corr.6v18-19 says,”Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside the body but sexual sin is against his own body.” Reason being that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. From this scripture you can see that God treasures our bodies because that’s His true abode. You can then imagine how God feels when one lapses deep down into homosexuality.God calls this perversion and such that practice this act are reprobate or depraved and await God’s judgement(Romans 1v18-32. God dislikes sin but detests homosexuality(Lev.18v22).Think of it, the angels’ anger burned more when the men of Sodom and Gomorrah wanted to forcefully have sex with them (Gen.19v5).
Don’t get me wrong.Sin is sin, but we have to know that there are categories that are weightier. May God give you words of wisdom to use in ministering to your brother and may the good Lord deliver him.
