Today is a day when it is remembered that many individuals died in an effort for this nation to exist as it does today. A nation anyone is free to leave if they dislike living in it. And a nation where many are allowed to join annually, although they came from other places.
I don’t know how much longer God might allow America to exists, but I am glad He decided to give me an opportunity to live here as opposed to some other parts of the world.
Acts 17:24-31 (New American Standard Bible)
24 “The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;
25 nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;
26 and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’
29 “Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man.
30 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,
31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

God has willed that America exists and I live in it, to proclaim salvation in His Son Jesus Christ. Praise God through His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ for that. There is no greater memorial, than remembering that Christ died for our sins, but we don’t ignore that many in the United States armed forces died in an effort to keep America in existence.

Our American freedom was won by blood. 400,000 American vets’ graves are scattered throughout the world, mute testimonies of the price of our freedom. Every day that goes by, their memory dims in the hearts of Americans. The young know barely anything of what they did or what it means. This is a sad and destructive trend.
If their blood purchased temporal freedom, why is it so hard to see that God brought about our freedom from the destructive tyranny of sin by the same method – the shedding of blood. However, in this case, His Son’s grave kept Him for only 3 days. It was emptied by a resurrection through the power of God. The power and reality of this freedom is as John writes in Revelation 5: “for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;”
