  1. stan Says:

I’ve never heard of the movie, Zeitgeist. Good video though. A few things struck me.

Madam Blavatsky blasphemed the Holy Spirit by saying Lucifer and the Holy Spirit were the same.

One tiny correction to the narration (@4:30), and it’s a mistake that nearly every preacher makes: That the disciples met a man carrying a pitcher of water. That is a misquote of what Jesus says. He said that a man will meet them. The change is useful to note because it illustrates Jesus’ providence in that He did not leave the disciples with the task of finding the man in that busy city; but rather made arrangements with the man with the water to meet His men, making their task “easy and their burden light” so to speak. Mark 14:13 and Luke 22:10.

The third is about the dying/rising god Osiris. I had a civilized conversation with an atheist on the internet a few years ago. He told me that Christianity’s “myth” of Jesus’ resurrection was appropriated from the Egyptian mystery religion. He cited the Osiris myth as the origin of Jesus’ death and resurrection. I said, OK. Produce the eyewitnesses of Osiris’ death and return to life such as Jesus had, which were over 500. That was the end of that talk.

I try to make the point that every New Testament author bases his writings on eyewitness testimony of Jesus’ resurrection. The list is in 1 Corinthians 15:5-8

One of the things I ask an unbeliever who is promoting some ancient sage as better than Jesus is “Are they still dead?” It changes the conversation to the importance and reliability of the resurrection of Jesus, which is the core of our faith.
