Southern Baptists Falling for Globalist “Fight Climate Change” Ploy

First the Southern Baptists leadership got cozy with Rick Warren and now this:

Southern Baptists Fight Climate Change

Southern Baptist Leaders Take Unusual Step of Urging Fight Against Climate Change

NEW YORK (AP) — In a major shift, a group of Southern Baptist leaders said their denomination has been “too timid” on environmental issues and has a biblical duty to stop global warming.

The declaration, signed by the president of the Southern Baptist Convention among others and released Monday, shows a growing urgency about climate change even within groups that once dismissed claims of an overheating planet as a liberal ruse. The conservative denomination has 16.3 million members and is the largest Protestant group in the U.S.

The signers of “A Southern Baptist Declaration on the Environment and Climate Change” acknowledged that not all Christians accept the science behind global warming. They said they do not expect fellow believers to back any proposed solutions that would violate Scripture, such as advocating population control through abortion.

So Southern Baptists are buying into hype about global warming, but there is evidence of great global cooling:

Evidence of Global Cooling

Now there is word that all four major global temperature tracking outlets have released data showing that temperatures have dropped significantly over the last year. California meteorologist Anthony Watts says the amount of cooling ranges from 65-hundredths of a degree Centigrade to 75-hundreds of a degree.

That is said to be a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. It is reportedly the single fastest temperature change ever recorded ? up or down.

Some scientists contend the cooling is the result of reduced solar activity ? which they say is a larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases.

So we have more proof the sun is having a greater impact than anything man could do. While the Southern Baptists leadership is signing documents, NOT ABOUT SPREADING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS TO ALL THE WORLD, but about some trumped up hype about the world turning into a ball of fire before Christ’s return!

Rather than buying into the well funded junk science, that promotes that man will destroy the planet, what ever happened to standing on scripture?

Genesis 8:20-22 (New American Standard Bible)

20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

21 The LORD smelled the soothing aroma; and the LORD said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.
22 “While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”

Even before the Mosaic Law and therefore before the New Covenant in Christ as well, the Lord established a covenant with man. That despite how wicked and evil man is continually, God would not have the earth be destroyed and there would be weather cycles continually. And there is scientific evidence that affirms the promise of God, that is if you seeing it every day of your life is not evidence enough to convince you: Unstoppable Global Warming, Because Man Did Not Cause it! (Audio).

God knows that the total depravity of man has no solution in the proposals of men seeking answers in science. Hope only exists in faith on the Lord Jesus Christ, the righteous Son of God John 3:13-21 [click to expand link]. The one who created all things, Hebrews 1:1-2 [click to expand link].

Christian churches should not give into turning focus from the gospel of Christ to the false gospel of the man made global warming cultists.

  1. DL Foster Says:

Wow, this should score them really cool points with the earth worshippers!

I wonder what they will do when this happens:

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 1 Peter 3:10

We should be good stewards of God’s creation, but the creation is nothing if one refuses to acknowledge the Creator.

  2. Yvette Says:

Why muddy lies up with the truth or logic? If they truly believe that humans are the cause of global warming, they should lead by example and stop emitting about 10 minutes worth of carbon dioxide?

  3. Evette Says:

I believe that we all have an obligation to take care of what God has given us. I would not necessarily call them earth worshipers, but rather those who are aware of all the years of what carelessness had done to our environment. Too many Christians hold the view that “hey, Jesus is coming back soon, so what does it matter” attitude. Which, I totally disagree with. I agree with Foster. We are to be good stewards of what God has given us. Is there any truth to the global warming issue, don’t know, but that still doesn’t take away the fact that God has called ALL HIS CHILDREN to take care of what he created.

    Pastor Foster,

This is similar to the comment I left on your site. Just like your comment regarding Galatians 5. As I stated on your site and here on IC’s site we should not be shocked about this convergence of thought. The separation of wheat and tares is quite evident as we see agreement and coalitions being formed. It’s like an ecumenical movement on steroids happening.

Once you begin to dilute the truth, truth is no longer truth but is mans vanity.

Those who make the “earth” their primary agenda really are modern day earth worshiping cultists, although they don’t wear funny robes and such. They are totally into salvation for mankind coming via their over the top environmental schemes. Schemes often that have other interests behind them that even those who promote the schemes don’t know about.

We all agree that being wasteful is not good. However, it’s not the church’s place to push environmental agendas, the church is to deliver the preached Word, give aide to saints and outreach ministry to the lost.

God has said that humanity should embrace His Son first and foremost. This is what the church should be sharing in message. Those who embrace His Son become reborn children of God, while others remain children of the enemy, 1 John 3. And all the environmental schemes can’t save anyone.

Climate change is impacted by factors far beyond human intervention. Shifts in climate are as old as the earth its self. But I’ll let the experts explain.

There really are some globalists One World Government agendas at work. 1 is the climate change initiatives, to remove some national sovereignty via that angle. The other angle playing up threats of TERRORISM, to remove some national sovereignty via another angle.

The globalist environmentalists slate includes population control. Is the greater evil killing an innocent human in the womb or killing a tree? Jesus didn’t die on a cross for the sake of a tree or a goat. Our agenda is about God’s Word to man. I’m not for being wasteful, but the agenda of many “environmentalists” is not sound and often hurts people who are in need.

The church is to avoid taking on yokes of those who deny Him.

Much of what environmentalists push for involves very major changes based on their assumptions that “global warming/climate change” can be controlled by the will of man. It really has a core that is nothing more than a godless cult on par with the Tower of Bable.

And even some who claim there is a God are acting like He is for whatever junk they propose. Listen to Al Gore next time he’s asked about whether God wants all the junk he proposes to be done. It’s a real religious thing for him. It strays from the truth, because Gore is not pressing that God wants repentance, but rather using junk science to claim God wants less CO2.

This is all played against Christians, to promote things OTHER THAN the message of Christ.

Your comment is somewhat myopic in its scope. Should we should be good stewards of this earth? Absolutely! However, many of these eco warriors believe that our human population should be reduced. They like the one child policy of China where forced abortions take place. Politically most are liberal and have a general disdain for Christianity. I could go on but I would suggest you clarify your response in regards to “How” we should be good stewards. In other words do you support population reduction? Do you support the Kyoto treaty which would grind our economy to a halt? Please clarify.

  7. SteelGator Says:

Since the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, many communists have needed a new home. Thus, they went over to and took over the Environmental movement. They goal is not to save the environment. They goal is to bring down capitalist and free societies and replace them with communist governments. In the West, professors and such used to rally around Communism. Now that it has failed they attempt to indoctrinate their willing students under the guise of Environmentalism.

  8. art123 Says:

Do you really think that if Southern Baptists were really grounded in the word and teaches us the same, they would fall for this political hype of global warming?

  9. SteelGator Says:

Good point….I have known for a long time Southern Baptists clergy, seminaries and leaders were turning more and more liberal in doctrine and in their interpretation of the Bible.

  10. Evette Says:

Kyle, let me clearly define my position to you. We should all take care of what we’ve been entrusted with. Is it not our duty as Christians to care and take care of where we live? You seem to think that I’m on the side of those who are pro-abortion and so on. And I’m not. Population reduction? No. How can something so simple be taken out of context. This was the one thing that I was afraid of. Cry myopic all you want, you took a huge leap in your thought process towards me and what I said. Very nice.

Why jump those Christian’s who want to join that conversation? Maybe, just maybe, Christians can help shape that conversation. Sitting on the sidelines has only emboldened those who support the ugly things you referenced.

  11. IndependentConservative Says:

    Evette you mentioned:

Maybe, just maybe, Christians can help shape that conversation. Sitting on the sidelines has only emboldened those who support the ugly things you referenced.

You have to understand the history of this. The current big “environmentalist” push came from the far political Left and people who practically worship tress. Their view and what they do is help bring about the falling away noted in 1 Timothy 4:1-3. (They don’t like “traditional” marriage and they don’t even like meat.) They were trying to get their influence over legislation, but of course more Conservative areas were not really into it. So they started nonsense such as “What would Jesus Drive” as if the Lord needs a car and is not present with us who love Him. This was to draw in Christians and people in more Conservative leaning areas. All to give you the IMPRESSION that you would have a seat at the table to influence things. But make no mistake, the agenda was set before your invite was mailed, the big money interests behind this (that happens to be CFR people such as George Soros) are out for ONE GOAL and they will ensure their money meets that end. Nations all answering to an ungodly global leadership, to suit their multi-national agendas, to weaken national sovereignty and bring about for this nation something other than the America you know now. It’s a lose for Christians and even Americans, because the Left will ensure that while you play the “buy a hybrid” (which is a farce) role, they’ll be able to dedicate their money to things such as their population control efforts. Now much of the push on the International level of from the UN and it’s the United Nations Population Fund that takes measures that slaughter more babies in parts of Africa and other 3rd world areas than some of the worst dictators those places have seen.

The only reason Christians were invited in is because too many Christians were resisting their efforts and they want help swaying the Federal government into the whole of their plans. Your government that pays money to the UN.

While Christians are saying “well we will participate up to this line” they knew that before courting Christians to being with and ARE USING CHRISTIANS for part of THEIR AGENDA.

We don’t need a church to waste paper for people to take care of their community apart from globalist efforts. But churches signing on to lock up with globalist environmentalist efforts now as the article notes, makes the assumption that “all Christians” buy into the man made global warming/climate change lie and drives the church to the globalist agenda.

You’re talking about having influence on an environmental policy, but where does preaching the message of Christ play into that? It does not, that’s the problem. The agenda set for inviting Christians was “help clean up and keep your Jesus at home, just pull him out when we need you to convince more people to help clean up and otherwise keep in in your pocket” although not said, that’s what is happening.

That letter from Southern Baptist leadership had nothing to do with spreading the message of Christ and Him crucified, nothing to do with helping saints who are in need and nothing to do with outreach ministry.

Colossians 2:8 (New American Standard Bible)

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

This is drawing the church from their real core message of Christ and Him crucified into a message about gasses and trees.

And you do know the SBC letter came just as the cult known as Roman Catholicism gave notice that they were “adding” environment abuse to their “list” of “sins”. It creates a net media effect of seeking salvation via environment. Instead of the SBC leaders issuing notice for people to follow the Lord, they are talking about the environmentalist agenda.

Also note my first sentence in the post, that shows how the SBC is locking up with globalist Rick Warren.

So you have globalist (CFR member) Rick Warren tied to SBC leaders, SBC leadership jumping in with environmentalist and the cult of Mary claiming to pollute is sin practically at the same time. It’s a setup that ends with the Anti-Christ.

  12. Evette Says:

This blog and many of it’s discussions do the same thing and many times can be just as distracting from the core message. Not only that there are many policy issues that many Christians, and probably you, waste time with that never preach the Gospel. I believe that we can talk about the environment, get involved and still preach the message of Christ through it.

You will never acknowledge any point I make in this discussion as being valid or even MAYBE valid. So, there is little point continuing on for me. Thanks so much for the chance to speak here though.

  13. IndependentConservative Says:

Evette – I’m not saying my blog or another might cover something secular. However I ask you, should an organization that is expressly created and maintained for maintaining churches and church doctrine waste paper on something that is not about the cause of Christ?

I’m no pastor, this blog is not a church and I’ve made that clear repeatedly. With the Southern Baptist leadership, you’re talking about pastors, church leaders, who run an organization to maintain and direct churches. How much time should they spend on using the money given to them via donations to promote a globalist agenda?

In Acts 6, the apostles of the Lord Jesus refused to even be caught up in the godly work of serving widows and appointed deacons, so they could continue in the Word, never mind secular environmental concerns.

If a saint in their personal time desires to take part in a park clean-up project, I’ve got no problem with it and might even participate myself. However, we are talking about church leadership and what they are doing in their positions as church leaders. This is not something they signed as private citizens, they are using a “bully pulpit” to promote it.

Does that help us better understand each other?
