Pulpit Pimp Kirbyjon Caldwell Comes Up Lame Against Abomination. To Enhance His Crush On Obama!

by @ 2:07 am. Filed under Nuts on Parade

When a pastor writes a book titled The Gospel of Good Success: A Road Map to Spiritual, Emotional and Financial Wholeness, you can be certain he’s not a man standing on sound doctrine. But hey, he’s got ideas for people to make money that are legal, so godly Contentment is exchanged for desires of success and more masses follow the false prosperity doctrine train.

Here’s a rotten gem from the mouth of Caldwell, that was captured in a Time magazine article.

Does God Want You To Be Rich? - Time Magazine - September 10, 2006

..
Kirbyjon Caldwell, who pastors Windsor Village, the largest (15,000) United Methodist church in the country, can sound as Prosperity as the next pastor: “Jesus did not die and get up off the Cross so we could live lives full of despair and disappointment,” he says. He quotes the “abundant life” verse with all earnestness, even giving it a real estate gloss: “It is unscriptural not to own land,” he announces.

So it’s against scripture not to own land. I’m sure when Pimp Caldwell gave this sermon, he certainly was NOT using 1 Timothy 6 as his source text. I mean words like “…men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain” probably would not square against his abuse of the term “abundant life” where Christ was speaking of life eternal, John 10. Also given that in 1 Timothy 6 God has the Apostle Paul sending a message of contentment for debt slaves, rather than telling them to seek physical freedom and become property owners, would not jive with Caldwell’s claims. Fact is, it is Caldwell that is being unscriptural. As Paul noted men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth would be.

Caldwell does some charity and rubs shoulders with President Bush, so we should just ignore his bad doctrine? I don’t think so. Bad doctrine is bad even when it’s mixed with some charitable deeds. And the fact Caldwell seems to be the man everybody loves while he’s into bad doctrine should make saints consider Luke 6:26.

And yes I know he was a successful businessman (a rags to riches story) before he became a pastor. Problem is that his mind is still in the business world and he’s delivering a bad money doctrine, that is a doctrine of covetousness. Leading people to feel they are sinful (”unscriptural”) if they are not at a certain level of financial status. So he’s a pimp with a bad doctrine he’s using to build his own fame. You’ve got to admit Bush and Time magazine didn’t know his name before he got in the pulpit. He’s got higher profile positions in the business world now than he had before. Publicans love him, money changers love him too.

Kirbyjon H. Caldwell: The Man Behind the Dream - Good News magazine - May/June 2001 edition

The 47-year-old man behind the dream describes himself as shy, but preaches like an electrified version of the Old Time Gospel Hour-jumping, sweatin’ and shoutin’ included. His resume reads like a list of lifetime goals of a Fortune 500 CEO. Caldwell’s on the Board of Directors of seven major-corporations including Continental Airlines, Inc., Chase Bank of Texas, and the National Children’s Defense Fund. He has an MBA from the prestigious Wharton School of Business, he has worked as a fast-paced stockbroker on Wall Street and has written a best-selling book entitled The Gospel of Good Success (Simon & Schuster). Caldwell has even been featured by national media conglomerates including the The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, NBC Nightly News, and The Today Show.

But enough about his prosperity pimp game. It seems Caldwell endorsed Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. for President. And Caldwell’s church assembly USED TO have listed a ministry that would help people out of the abomination of homosexual behavior. Oh, but you know Obama and the abomination of homosexuality are really close. So Obama’s abomination contingent called Caldwell on the noted efforts to help homosexuals out of abomination. To see how Caldwell came up “lame”, check out the Gay Christian Movement Watch post titled: Kirbyjon Caldwell, Obama’s six degrees of homosexuality.

It is most interesting how Kirbyjon Caldwell was an adviser to President George W. Bush, a President most homosexuals dislike and having a ministry to help homosexuals out of abomination on his church assembly’s web site. To being a supporter of Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., a presidential candidate many homosexuals love and losing any mention of a ministry to help homosexuals out of abomination. It’s as if things with him went from Conservative to Liberal, from helping homosexuals out of abomination to no mention, almost overnight. If Caldwell was a politician, he’d be called a flip-flopper. But he’s a pastor, with a most fishy doctrine, that seems to flop with the shifting of political winds. Caldwell now claims he never knew his church assembly had a ministry for homosexuals and is uncertain about his stance on homosexuals seeking “civil unions”. Please read all of the post at GCMW for details on Caldwell’s current dancing on the issue. Back in 1998, Kirbyjon Caldwell was on record saying the following:

Concern grows for same-sex unions

Paper: Houston Chronicle
Date: SAT 03/21/1998
Section: Religion
Page: 1

The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, pastor of the fast-growing Windsor Village United Methodist Church in southwest Houston, said he remains committed to ministry “to, for and with all persons.” But he said the church’s Social Principles “speak very clearly about same-sex marriage.”

The principles state: “Ceremonies that celebrate homosexual unions shall not be conducted by our ministers and shall not be conducted in our churches.”

But as is noted in the GCMW write-up, the man’s spine has vanished!

Here are some clips from current UMC Social Principles.

United Methodist Church - Social Principles > Human Sexuality

Homosexual persons no less than heterosexual persons are individuals of sacred worth. All persons need the ministry and guidance of the church in their struggles for human fulfillment, as well as the spiritual and emotional care of a fellowship that enables reconciling relationships with God, with others, and with self. The United Methodist Church does not condone the practice of homosexuality and consider this practice incompatible with Christian teaching. We affirm that God’s grace is available to all, and we will seek to live together in Christian community. We implore families and churches not to reject or condemn lesbian and gay members and friends. We commit ourselves to be in ministry for and with all persons.

It seems Caldwell is not speaking about that now.

United Methodist Church - What is the denomination’s position on homosexuality?

Regarding the ministry of the ordained

¶304.3

While persons set apart by the Church for ordained ministry are subject to all the frailties of the human condition and the pressures of society, they are required to maintain the highest standards of holy living in the world. The practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. Therefore self-avowed practicing homosexuals1 are not to be certified as candidates, ordained as ministers, or appointed to serve in The United Methodist Church.2
1. “Self-avowed practicing homosexual” is understood to mean that a person openly acknowledges to a bishop, district superintendent, district committee of ordained ministry, board of ordained ministry, or clergy session that the person is a practicing homosexual. See Judicial Council Decisions 702, 708, 722, 725, 764, 844.
2. See Judicial Council Decisions 984, 985.

¶ 341.6

Ceremonies that celebrate homosexual unions shall not be conducted by our ministers and shall not be conducted in our churches.

¶ 2702. Chargeable Offenses

Regarding the General Council on Finance and Administration

¶806.9

[The General Council on Finance and Administration of The United Methodist Church] shall be responsible for ensuring that no board, agency, committee, commission, or council shall give United Methodist funds to any gay caucus or group, or otherwise use such funds to promote the acceptance of homosexuality. The council shall have the right to stop such expenditures. This restriction shall not limit the Church’s ministry in response to the HIV epidemic.

The UMC appears to be unchanged on the issue as a denomination.

Call me crazy, but I suspect more of these pimps will be caving big time on the issue of homosexuality in the future.

IC, I think that he is now much more concerned about the empire (read:14,000 members and lucrative speaking engagements) he’s built for himself to worry about what his church’s official position is.

He said he would have to “check with the church”.

What about your OWN PERSONAL CONVICTION based on the Word of God, Rev. Caldwell?

    Does that even matter anymore?

    1998- 2008
    RIP Kirbyjon Caldwell’s spine.

IndependentConservative reply on February 24th, 2008 at 3:36 pm :

We must beware not to be like him.

He was successful in material wealth before taking to a pulpit, but now he’s leveraging the pulpit for obviously more gain in the earth than in Heaven.

The Lord has instructed us as follows:
John 6:27 (New American Standard Bible)

27 “Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.”

We must believe on the Son, not glory of men.

His position has been questionable in my mind for a long time. I still remember him not praying in the name of Jesus at a national event a few years ago. I think it was the president’s inauguration. He seems to have a short history of not wanting to offend those who need to hear the gospel and who need to see an example of not being ashamed of Christ. My pastor has a good saying: “everybody is coming out of the closet except for the Christian”. Too many of us are getting weaker in the faith when we should be getting stronger and able to help someone else.

  3. westchester Says:

Sorry, a family member told me my memory is wrong about his prayer in the name of Jesus. I should have researched that before I responded.

IndependentConservative reply on February 24th, 2008 at 11:49 pm :

I’m not going to get into the details of his inauguration prayers much, other than to say he did both for Bush and here’s some scoop related to that.

Caldwell offered the official benediction at Bush’s inauguration in 2001. This prayer engendered some controversy since Caldwell closed his prayer by saying he prayed in “the name that’s above all other names, Jesus the Christ. Let all who agree say Amen”, which some felt was religiously insensitive to non-Christians and inappropriate at a secular ceremony. (For example, Alan Dershowitz wrote, “The plain message conveyed by the new administration is that George W. Bush’s America is a Christian nation, and that non-Christians are welcome into the tent so long as they agree to accept their status as a tolerated minority rather than as full equal citizens.”) Caldwell denies that he was proselytizing, saying that he always prayed in the name of Jesus. Bush visited the Power Center again in 2003 to commemorate its 10-year anniversary.

Caldwell again offered the official benediction at Bush’s 2005 inauguration. When asked to offer the prayer again at Bush’s second inauguration, Caldwell added the phrase “respective of all faiths, I submit this prayer in the Name of Jesus.”

According to some reports, Bush and Caldwell speak regularly on the telephone for spiritual counseling and prayer.

For those interested, the text of Caldwell’s 2005 prayer is here. It shows he said:

    Respecting persons of all faiths,
I humbly submit this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen”

There is a big difference in respecting all faiths versus showing respect towards people of all faiths. I’m not sure which he said, but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and say the latter. I could, but won’t get into other things he said in that prayer. Not that I’m precluding anyone else from doing so, just saying I’m not putting time into it although I see some statements of concern.

Where did this clown go to seminary? Does he even have any Biblical training?

Go figure, a liberal black man supporting the socialist black man, Obama, just because the color of his skin. Wonder if Caldwell will start hanging out with Calypso Louie anytime soon?

IndependentConservative reply on February 25th, 2008 at 3:00 pm :

Where did this clown go to seminary? Does he even have any Biblical training?

    According to Wikipedia:

Although he was very successful financially, Caldwell felt called to Christian ministry and subsequently attended the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, receiving his masters in Divinity in 1981.

This is mentioned in the 2nd article link in my post, but the specific degree earned is not noted there.

I highly doubt his ties to Obama are because of race, but rather a potential power stake as he’s had with Bush. Obama panders to churches more than McCain and Obama is the leading Democrat. Perhaps race played a role, but I doubt it was the big factor for Caldwell.

If he hangs out with Farra-the-Con, he won’t be the first man claiming the Lord’s name in a leadership position to do so. Many a pimp hooks up with that nut. And that nut has endorsed Obama.

Maybe this had something to do with the endorsement from false christ Louis Farrakhan?

SteelGator reply on February 25th, 2008 at 4:59 pm :

So, he made multi millions between 1977 and 1982 while at the same time attending a 3 year seminary program. If he was working so hard making money between 1977 and 1982, how would he have time to go to a 3 year seminary program and graduate in 1981?

Also, what businessperson makes multi millions in such a short time frame. I have many friends that are investment bankers and bond traders. They have made nice livings for themselves, but it has taken many years to build a client base. Once the client base is secured, then, they start rolling in the big bucks. How was KC able to build such a client base in such a very short time frame? Once he built his book of business, I am sure he had to turn it over to the firm he left in order to become a full time pastor in 1982. Something is fishy here. I not saying millions can’t be made by folks overnight (i.e. the Google guys, pro athletes , entertainers and of course the insider trading done by Ms. Clinton.) However, this is not the norm, even for an Ivy League graduate.

IC hinted at it before. I am wondering is most of his money has been made by being a pulpit pimp. How about that non for profit development company? I smell kickbacks……If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.

  5. DL Foster Says:

Is Caldwell actually a liberal? He seems to me confused and cowed.

Geesh! “…humbly respecting persons of all faiths, I humbly submit this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.”

This wasnt a prayer at all, it was a political speech.

IndependentConservative reply on February 25th, 2008 at 3:30 pm :

He’s an opportunist who does not like to see run down inner city area given how he came up. So while getting his he tosses a little back over his shoulder. The big problem is, he’s using heresy to do it!

This wasnt a prayer at all, it was a political speech.

Very much so! Complete with Word of Faith style “name it claim it” statements.

IndependentConservative reply on February 25th, 2008 at 3:36 pm :

What if a pastor in a church closed his prayer with the following:

I respect Baal worshipers and people who offer their children to Molech, but I’m humbly submitting this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ…

Then it would have been more obvious how bad a closing that was.

DL, I tried to be easy on that, but you’re getting me fired up brother! Because that along with many other statements were things he would have been STONED for under the Old Covenant.

DL Foster reply on February 25th, 2008 at 10:11 pm :

Well, IC Im not tossing gas ont he fire, but the more I read about KjC, the more I am not liking his MO.

I respect Baal worshipers and people who offer their children to Molech, but I’m humbly submitting this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ…

Man!! The raw truth about this is, he sold Jesus up the river with that “prayer”. Hopefully he has repented.

I wonder if he prays like that at his church?

  6. SteelGator Says:

IC: You nailed it. Opportunist is what he is. Just like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton on the left and John Hagee, Mike Huckabee on the right.

I am sure he would have been sucking up to Hitler back in the 1930s-1940s if he thought it would personally help him.

Also, do you ever notice that ALMOST ALL false prophets and teachers end up hanging around with all the other false religious leaders? So called Christian leaders hanging around with Catholic leaders, Muslim leaders, Nation of Islam leaders, and heathens of all kinds.

IndependentConservative reply on February 25th, 2008 at 5:28 pm :

Yea they tend to enjoy each others company!

  7. SteelGator Says:

Why won’t Obama denounce Calypso Louie? If David Duke endorsed McLame, I am sure McLame would be denouncing him in a very quick manner. Does Obama agree with the Nation of Islam leader’s racist beliefs?

Looks like Obama is quick to attack the Hilldabeast campaign for putting out this picture of him over the weekend. Why is Obama so ashamed of wearing the Islamic garb? Is he afraid people will remember that his father is Muslim and Barrack Hussein Obama will be soft on his Islamic Terrorist friends?

    http://www.drudgereport.com/flashoa.htm

If B. Hussein Obama is so quick to denounce Hillary on this, why is he not so quick to denounce Nation of Islam leader Calypso Louie?

  8. IndependentConservative Says:

He’s given lip service against Farra-the-Con in the past, but even when advised not to he’s placed members of that racist cult on high positions in his circle.

He’s playing both sides. But what do you expect, he’s a politician.

The whole picture thing was a silly move by Camp Hillary given she and Pelosi (and even Laura Bush) have worn Muslim garb too.

SteelGator reply on February 26th, 2008 at 12:26 pm :

I actually think the picture move was a good but underhanded ploy. There are a good number of liberal Jews in Ohio and I am sure some in Texas that despise anything to do with Islam. If she can paint Obama as a Islamic sympathizer, these Jews will vote against him.

I also heard a conservative Jew from South Florida say that his entire family are liberal Jews, and they will NEVER vote for a black man, period. He was sharing this to show how racist so called loving and open minded liberals are. If this is the case, McCain could certainly carry Florida in the general election.

IndependentConservative reply on February 26th, 2008 at 12:33 pm :

Obama’s numbers have shot up since the photo controversy.

If you are personally hoping the guy you want to win (McCain) does so via racist voters, it does not speak well of you. But if you’re just making a general observation, I won’t berate you for making that statement about how McCain could win Florida in the general election.

SteelGator reply on February 26th, 2008 at 1:01 pm :

No…I am not saying that I personally hope racists will help or hurt any candidate. I prefer the racists like David Duke, Calypso Louie, Al Sharpton et al will just fall off the face of the earth.

I am just making a general observation. However, if the majority of liberal Jews stay home because Obama is a “black man” , he would lose Florida hands down. South Florida has a very liberal voting block of former North Eastern Jewish-Americans. I am just noting that the liberals are the ones that are supposed to be tolerant and uniters. However, they are more racist than the opponents they try to paint as the racists.

One think that I have noticed over the years is that, the names that liberals call conservatives is what liberals really are. They call conservatives, racist. In fact, most white and Hispanic liberals are racist. They call conservatives, Nazi fascists. In fact, liberal democrats have move in common with Nazis than conservatives do. They say conservatives want to infringe on peoples rights. Well, it is really the liberals that want to take American citizens right to bear arms away. They want to stop conservatives from using their 1st Amendment right to talk or preach. They do this in the name of “hate speech” and/or “The Fairness Doctrine”.

IndependentConservative reply on February 26th, 2008 at 2:27 pm :

Yes many a Liberal is a first class hypocrite regarding the name calling.

Jews have many a reason not to vote for Obama that have nothing to do with him being Black.

Or as the saying goes, if you’d just get beyond the color of my skin, I’m sure you’d find plenty of reasons to dislike me just like everybody else :D .

SteelGator reply on February 26th, 2008 at 2:56 pm :

IC: Good point. I think most Jews problem with Obama is his Muslim heritage but I am sure the “color of his skin” doesn’t endear him to the upper class liberal elite Jewish-Americans. Maybe, hanging around with anti-Semite Calypso Louie could be a problem for Obama as well. I just find it ironic to see how hypocritical liberals are in regard to race and everything else for that matter.

A quick question for my non - white brothers and sisters. What is the deal with blacks and Jews not liking each other. I know there is a great deal of distrust of Jews by many whites and visa versa. I just never really knew that there seems to be a very deep thread of anti-Semitism among much within black culture, black churches etc. I have only really noticed this since living in heavily black populated areas of the deep South.
