Whatever can be said about Joel Osteen, he has not been duped. He knows what he is doing. I recall his sermon on a conversation that he had with his late father. He approached his father with big plans to make his father a televangelism star. His father told Joel that he wasn't interested; he just wanted to preach. Since Joel majored in broadcasting in college, that ruined his plans of being a big time Christian TV producer. So his father kept right on doing that until he died. Obviously after his father died, Joel decided that he was going to be the TV magnate that his father was hindering him from becoming while he was alive, and he made a business/broadcasting decision that being an actual preacher would inhibit his plans based on the fact that the number of basically orthodox preachers currently on national television you can probably count on two hands, and this is coming from a guy that is actually very liberal on such matters.

You do know that Joel at times borrows material from his father's sermons? I didn't continue in my blog post, but what Joel is doing is where his own father had started going with his doctrine.

Yes things must go as God has declared they would, including apostasy. Although there is still time for Joel and God might grant him repentance.

Osteen lacks pastoral training? Tell us something that we don't know, well I speak for myself. When Joel told his father that he preferred to work behind the scene, he should have picked someone else because this man is leading folks deeper and deeper into a hole of apostasy. However, everything and every situation is pre-ordained, right?
