Basically there is a guy on YouTube claiming he’s a “prophet”. One of many who are in error in that regard. I’m not posting that video here, because even when the person was questioned and tried to justify their claim it was not true to scripture. And there are so many people falsely claiming “prophet” on YouTube, so I’m not going to bother noting that one here. What I am posting is a video response to that particular person from our brother Oct31st1517 (Mark), which proves there are no modern day “Prophets” and no “Apostles” today either. Please watch the short video below.

Are there prophets today?

The scripture often mishandled to justify what is called the “5 fold ministry” is the following.

Ephesians 4:11-13 (New American Standard Bible) 11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

Let’s run down the list.

• Apostles - As mentioned in the video, the office is CLOSED and Ephesians 2:19-22 shows it was a foundational office.
• Prophets - As mentioned in the video, the office is CLOSED and Ephesians 2:19-22 shows it was a foundational office. We don’t have any evidence that there will be another “prophet” till the events of Revelation 11.
• Evangelists - There are people who are honestly in this role today. If one looks at scripture, they were men who were working towards becoming church elders/pastors/bishops/overseers. Such as Timothy. So today an evangelist should be the understudy of an elder or elders.
• Pastors - Certainly we have these today, church elders. Some translations might use the term “bishop” or “overseer”, same thing. A church assembly should have a plurality of elders, with a speaking elder and in scripture elders were all of equal footing in the church assembly. None of the ranking of someone calling themselves “bishop” over pastors, that is very much Roman Catholic styled and not true to scripture.
• Teachers - Certainly we have these today.

Now having said all that, why did the apostles have so many gifts and miracles and we don’t see it like that in a single individual today? Because that is what was given to an apostle. Not that God does not will miracles today, but you don’t see ANYONE honestly displaying ALL gifts of the spirit today. Paul noted that the signs and wonders that were performed by God through him were a sign of his apostleship.

2 Corinthians 12:12 (New American Standard Bible) 12 The signs of a true apostle were performed among you with all perseverance, by signs and wonders and miracles.

Again, God can will a miracle today, but we don’t go chasing signs and wonders, the age of apostles is done. We know that the chasing of signs and wonders in our time will lead one to ruin, 2 Thessalonians 2 and Matthew 24:24.

Finally I’ll say, there are no prophets, this does not mean people don’t prophesy today. Today prophesy is of the 1 Corinthians 14:3 kind and comes straight from scripture. It’s what pastors do most Sunday mornings. It is FORTHTELLING as in speaking from scripture, not foretelling as in trying to speak of coming events with no foundation other than claiming God said it.

Saints, stick to scripture, Sola Scriptura!

3 days ago, Mormon false prophet Gordon B. Hinckley died. I typically wait at least 3 days when someone I want to speak about dies and it’s apparent they went to hell. Just because I don’t celebrate death, so I wait a few days.

What needs to be noted is that Mormonism was founded by a false prophet and the man who just died was the same. We pray some day that cult might turn from evil if the Lord so wills, but it’s likely to continue its evil ways.

It stared with Joseph Smith Junior, see the short video below and notice all the evidence of him being false. Also pay particular attention to the claims that Mormons would rule and save the US Constitution. If you think Mitt Romney, a former Mormon “bishop” running for US President is no big deal, perhaps you’ll reconsider when watching the video below.

Joseph Smith Jr. — The Ravening Wolf

Regarding the polygamy, which in it’s self is adultery and the FLAT OUT ADULTERY GIVEN SOME OF THE WOMEN ALREADY HAD HUSBANDS. There is a passage of scripture, that should resonate FEAR with anyone who dares follow Joseph Smith Junior.

Jeremiah 23:14-32 (New American Standard Bible) 14 “Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: The committing of adultery and walking in falsehood; And they strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one has turned back from his wickedness. All of them have become to Me like Sodom, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah. 15 “Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets, ‘Behold, I am going to feed them wormwood And make them drink poisonous water, For from the prophets of Jerusalem Pollution has gone forth into all the land.’” 16 Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you. They are leading you into futility; They speak a vision of their own imagination, Not from the mouth of the LORD. 17 “They keep saying to those who despise Me, ‘The LORD has said, “You will have peace”’; And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, They say, ‘Calamity will not come upon you.’ 18 “But who has stood in the council of the LORD, That he should see and hear His word? Who has given heed to His word and listened? 19 “Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone forth in wrath, Even a whirling tempest; It will swirl down on the head of the wicked. 20 “The anger of the LORD will not turn back Until He has performed and carried out the purposes of His heart; In the last days you will clearly understand it. 21 “I did not send these prophets, But they ran. I did not speak to them, But they prophesied. 22 “But if they had stood in My council, Then they would have announced My words to My people, And would have turned them back from their evil way And from the evil of their deeds. 23 “Am I a God who is near,” declares the LORD, “And not a God far off? 24 “Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD. 25 “I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy falsely in My name, saying, ‘I had a dream, I had a dream!’ 26 “How long? Is there anything in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy falsehood, even these prophets of the deception of their own heart, 27 who intend to make My people forget My name by their dreams which they relate to one another, just as their fathers forgot My name because of Baal? 28 “The prophet who has a dream may relate his dream, but let him who has My word speak My word in truth. What does straw have in common with grain?” declares the LORD. 29 “Is not My word like fire?” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock? 30 “Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the LORD, “who steal My words from each other. 31 “Behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the LORD, “who use their tongues and declare, ‘The Lord declares.’ 32 “Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the LORD, “and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit,” declares the LORD.

(There have been other adulterous men who told people to follow their “dream”, but I’m not going to get into that in this post. Those who love the Lord will accept what is truth and avoid what is false, as the Holy Spirit guides the reader of the Word of God.)

So it started with Joseph Smith Junior, continued through a line of evil men and most recently Gordon B. Hinckley. Why was Hinckley evil you ask? Because he followed Joseph Smith Junior into the ditch, Luke 6:39! See the video evidence below.

Joseph above Jesus? Where did that come from?

Total blasphemy. Claiming the lies of Joseph Smith Junior were the “greatest gospel dispensation of all time”. Which would mean, that false covenant with polygamy that Joseph Smith Junior claimed was called greater than the message of Christ Himself! As if Jesus and the apostles all laid ground work, to have something greater presented to Joseph Smith Junior .

Regarding the false covenant claimed by Joseph Smith Junior, see Mormon D&C 132. Which goes against many scriptures, including monogamous marriage affirming Mark 10:6-9 and affirmation human marriages won’t matter after this life Luke 20:34-36. Joseph Smith was in full violation of Revelation 22:18-19.

So with Hinckley now gone, the only sad question is what false prophet will Mormons next claim to be their leader, while lying to the world and claiming they have the message of Jesus Christ?

Now consider the following.

Republican US Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee should know that Bible verse above. Huckabee not only used to pastor at a church, he still holds a claim of church leadership as an ordained Southern Baptist minister and still speaks as a church leader at times, as he did with pulpit pimp John Hagee recently.

Well if Mike Huckabee were honestly a man following scripture and not HIS OWN BELLY, he would not have this double minded stance. Where he’s called to preach the gospel one moment and running to be chief publican the next. I’m not saying a Christian can’t run for an elected office, but a man who claims he was called to lead a church one day and then has political ambitions the next is a man NOT TO BE TRUSTED. Anyway, Huckabee should know enough of the Bible to know, that he should not ever be in fellowship with people like John Hagee or Kenneth Copeland. That is if he were honestly a man desiring to follow Christ in truth. If he wanted to walk in the truth of the scripture above, he’d rebuke people like Copeland, but instead we see Copeland and Huckabee have some relations that are so tight it’s down right shady!

Texas Ministry Hosts Huckabee Fundraiser LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Christian nonprofit says a Texas televangelist turned a national ministers’ gathering last week into a fundraising opportunity for Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, a newspaper reports. The Trinity Foundation, a charity that monitors televangelists and viewed a live Internet broadcast of the event, said the fundraiser took in $111,000 and generated pledges nearing $1 million, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported in a copyrighted article Tuesday. The fundraiser was held at Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ campus in Newark, Texas. Russ Florence of Tulsa, Okla., a spokesman for Copeland, said in a statement that the event did not amount to an endorsement of Huckabee by Kenneth Copeland Ministries. He said Huckabee’s campaign rented one of the rooms after the ministers’ conference and Kenneth Copeland Ministries did not make a contribution to Huckabee’s campaign. “No offering was or has been taken for any political candidate by Kenneth Copeland Ministries or at a KCM event,” Florence said. Huckabee campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart said she could not confirm the amount raised, but said that Huckabee and Copeland spoke by phone last week. The former Arkansas governor also is an ordained Southern Baptist minister. “Basically, Kenneth Copeland simply asked him how he could pray for him and the governor asked him to pray for physical stamina for the team and the financial resources that they need each day,” she said. “I’m not sure who called who.” Huckabee’s campaign released a statement saying it rented a room for “a separate event that was hosted by a private individual” and was not affiliated with Copeland’s ministry. The campaign said the event conformed with campaign finance laws and tax regulations. … Copeland oversees a ministry with its own $17.5 million Cessna “Citation X” jet and its own private airport. In November, he gave Huckabee nearly a week of free airtime on The Believer’s Voice of Victory telecast to talk about character and integrity. Copeland said at the time that he and his wife Gloria had donated $2,300 to Huckabee’s campaign.

Sharing in sin? It sure looks that way to me!

Not that I’m a fan of the source of the article, but this certainly has no appearance of godliness on it.

The Southern Baptists would do well to strip Mike Huckabee of his ordination, disassociate from him, given he’s lock step with evil. But I know that won’t happen. I’m just a man who wishes these people who “lay hands” on these shysters would hold them to account. We might be better able to tell a pastor from a politician, if those who endorse a man to preach would tell him when he desires the call of man’s politics over the call of God’s House, to do so without their ordination still on his record. It’s sharing evil and it’s a sad sight to behold.

I fully respect George W. Bush as the chief executive of our nation. I respect our President. On some major matters of policy I’ve agreed with him more than some of his political rivals. I’ve got no problem saying I voted for him in 2004, given the field of candidates in that race. You probably could search this blog and find many posts I’ve made in support of President Bush regarding many political matters, although at times I’ve spoken in opposition. Still overall I’ve usually been more in agreement with him politically than in opposition.

But never mind the politics, I just wanted to note that I honestly respect our President for the position God ordained him to hold for the moment. I also wanted to make clear I’m not some “anti-Bush” Moonbat, that has been seeking his impeachment. Just the same, I can’t go claiming someone is a Christian when their own fruit proves them not to be and I’m not talking about policy matters, but matters of personal theology.

I’ve pointed out previously in a post titled Why President George W. Bush Honestly is Not a Christian details of why I can’t see Bush as my brother in Christ. Our President, yes, but not a brother in Christ.

Now my brother in Christ Walter Kambulow has passed me an article you should read in full titled He’d rather talk about sex than God. The article’s subheading is the following:

Now there is a whole lot I could say about the article in point by point analysis here, but I just think you need to read it in full yourself. Because without all the lengthy analysis from me, the article should help any true saint see that the point of Bush not being a Christian is greatly reinforced by that article. He is a man who has found a means to control some of his personal issues. He is not a man who desires to spread the message of salvation in Jesus Christ as the ONLY means for salvation. And for you who were told that Bush took some time from political pandering, to speak to some little child about Christ and walked the child though the formulaic “sinners prayer”, that story is a big hoax. Bush is a man who might like to read the Bible at times, but he is not a man who is expressing the truth found in scripture. He is a man who plays on religious jargon for political gain.

Regarding Bush’s Bible reading, it seems to vary depending on the year.

Bush’s Official Reading List, and a Racy Omission … Mr. Bush noted that he liked the Hamilton biography because “it was a very interesting history of how hard it was to get democracy started.” He also told Mr. Lamb that he reads the Bible daily every other year, and in the years in between he reads a daily devotional by Oswald Chambers, a Protestant minister of Scotland from a century ago. Mr. Bush told Mr. Lamb that “Oswald Chambers was one of the great Christian thinkers” and that “the easier it is to understand what he writes, I think, the more understanding of religion a person becomes.” This year, the president said, he is once again making his way through the Bible. …

So he’s reading scripture every other year. It just seems like he now finds the Bible to be nice reading material, rather than the Word of God and essential to daily spiritual growth. I mean if he said this rotation was an every other day matter I might not take notice, but every other year. No wonder Bush speaks the language of secular humanism when actually asked how one can reach God. I mean if someone told me to try NOT reading my Bible for a year and just listening to some preacher I feel is good to listen too, I’d laugh in their face!

Oh well, Bush is not the first to play off religion for political gain and he certainly won’t be the last.

The Sovereignty of God

Our sister in Christ and fellow blogger La Shawn Barber has written an article for the publication The Jerusalem Connection. It is a very good read and I was interviewed by La Shawn for the write-up.

As I’ve said before, Romans 11 makes it clear, that a final remnant of all Hebrew blood will embrace Jesus Christ as Lord, but all who reject Christ including Jews who reject Him now will all suffer eternal damnation. It does not matter if someone is a Jew, Barbarian or whatever. Reject Christ and upon your physical death your fate is condemnation. As Jesus told the Jewish ruler Nicodemus face to face in John 3.

On a more controversial note:

That is, if what I’ve already said is not controversial enough. I must also mention the following, because it is very significant and relevant. And it’s best to cover things regarding the nation of Israel in full.

While in 1948 Israel was restored as an independent nation. Does that mean Israel will never again suffer loss of that land till Christ’s return? It is possible, however there is one frightful thought to consider. Matthew 24:1-2, Mark 13:1-2 and Luke 21:5-6 all specifically record a jarring statement from the Lord Jesus:

…there will not be left one stone upon another which will not be torn down.

And Jesus explained why in Luke 19:41-44.

While I feel it is good for the USA to be allies with the nation of Israel and I feel if any enemy of Israel dares attack, that the USA should militarily offer assistance to Israel. Assistance up to and including turning said enemy (or enemies) to glass via nuclear means. I still can’t ignore the words of the Lord. While the nation of Israel was lost in the past, not every single physical stone was toppled. Most were, but some stones remained and still exists today. Was Christ speaking in figurative or fully literally terms when speaking of the stones? Clearly the vast majority of Christians see it as figurative, but if Christ was speaking of those stones in literal terms, it would mean that despite our best efforts, there will on some sad day be a toppling of every literal stone. Yes Israel was destroyed in the past, but in some parts, some stones remained on top of each other. So it is indeed a frightful thought if Jesus means every literal stone. Because as is known if we are honest about it. Some of the old stones still exists, right on top of each other. The Jewish Virtual Library makes note of it. I’m quoting their mention of just one of the sights with old stones below:

Jerusalem - The Old City The Western Wall When Rome destroyed the Second Temple in 70 C.E., only one outer wall remained standing. The Romans probably would have destroyed that wall also, but it must have seemed too insignificant to them; it was not even part of the Temple itself, just an outer wall surrounding the Temple Mount. For the Jews, however, this remnant of what was the most sacred building in the Jewish world quickly became the holiest spot in Jewish life. Throughout the centuries, Jews from throughout the world traveled to Palestine, and immediately headed for the Kotel ha-Ma’aravi (the Western Wall) to thank God. The prayers offered at the Kotel were so heartfelt that non-Jews began calling the site the “Wailing Wall.” A large plaza offers access to the Wall. You may take pictures - except on Shabbat - from outside the fenced enclosure near the Wall. The area is open 24-hours and is especially nice to visit when it is quiet late at night or during holidays and bar-mitzvahs when the area is filled with worshippers. Go right up to the Wall and feel the texture of the stones and take in the awesome size of the structure. The largest stone in the wall is 45 feet long, 15 feet deep, 15 feet high, and weighs more than one million pounds. The Wall is 65 feet (20 meters) high. …

I do not desire the nation of Israel suffer any more harm than has already come to it. But if Jesus meant every literal stone …

The bottom line is that we Christians should evangelize to the world about the message of the Lord Jesus Christ and that INCLUDES ministering to the nation of Israel.

Our brother on YouTube Bezel333, offers his take on Joel Osteen’s FoxNews Sunday interview. Something I may get around to watching on my DVR one day. But given what I’ve seen, let’s just say it remains very low on my priority list.

 

Joel Osteen on preaching, pastoral training and Mormonism

The Mormon cult has used the name “Joseph Smith” so many times, some of you might not have known, but the 2 quotes used in that video come from 2 different men who had the name “Joesph Smith”. The quote from the cult Book of Mormon was junk from the cult’s founder, Joseph Smith Junior. The quote from the cult book “Religious Truths Defined” was from Joseph Fielding Smith (aka Joseph Fielding Smith Junior). But it’s all part of Mormon doctrine, a group I call, the cult of Joseph Smith Junior.

While Satan can’t take over a true church, he does seek to implant false workers, who disguise themselves as workers of righteousness.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (New American Standard Bible) 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

And men who are not called by God, but are children of Satan also have been known to be founders of what they claim is a “church”.

The doctrinal errors Joel Osteen walks in started with his father, who founded what Joel Osteen now heads. Joel’s father, John Osteen was one of the “child preachers”, who started at age 17. He did become theologically trained, received seminary degrees and was ordained by the Southern Baptists, but later disassociated from them.

This obituary of John Osteen mentions how he was placed in pulpits since age 17. I knew scripture showed pastors and evangelists being men, I never saw teenagers and children in my Bible being in church leadership roles. Now keep in mind John Osteen was born in 1921, so at age 17 that was the year 1938. However, when you read this Day Start Tribute to John Osteen, you notice quickly that it is claimed he:

…he received the baptism in the Holy Ghost in 1958, an experience which revolutionized his ministry into a worldwide outreach…

Which means he was really into some bad doctrine. Because the man was claiming to be a pastor for 20 years and then supposedly was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1958. Which we know means he had some ultra-charismatic experience, that probably fails to align properly with scripture. So I’m just saying, where Joel is now in error is the continuation of what we’ve seen in the say what brings the numbers circles. John Osteen received a Doctorate of Divinity from Oral Roberts University. (Perhaps Matt Green can help you understand why that indicates a big problem.) If you read Joel Osteen’s bio on the Joel Osteen Ministries web site, you see that Joel attended Oral Roberts University and studied radio and television communications there. Joel then founded and produced his father’s TV “ministry”. Then the following:

For many years John Osteen encouraged Joel to preach, but he always declined preferring to work behind the scenes. But, in early 1999 Joel felt compelled to accept his father’s invitation and he preached his first sermon on January 17th of that year. Little did anyone know that would be the last Sunday of JohnOsteen’s life. Two weeks later Joel began preaching and later that year was installed as the new Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church.

I don’t think I need to say more.

Senator to push probe of Atlanta churches, others TV ministries question senator’s authority over them Sen. Charles Grassley, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, is preparing another round of letters to Christian television ministries, prodding them to answer questions about their spending and the way they are governed, a spokeswoman said Thursday. At the same time, an aide to the committee’s Democratic chairman indicated it would be in the ministries’ best interest to cooperate with the Iowa Republican’s investigation. Grassley started his probe of the ministries in early November but has met resistance from some of the six ministries he has questioned. The senator’s latest attempt to get answers from the holdouts comes as criticism of his probe is mounting within the evangelical establishment. The flagship magazine of the movement, Christianity Today, editorialized this month that the Grassley probe amounted to “oversight overstep” that risked delving improperly into theology. Others — including the head of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability and the editor of Charisma, another evangelical magazine — still support Grassley but say they’ve been pressured to change their positions. … Under IRS guidelines, ministers may receive “reasonable” compensation but cannot enrich themselves through their nonprofits. … Jill Gerber, Grassley’s finance committee spokeswoman, said the follow-up letters would go out in the next few weeks to ministries that have raised concerns or not responded. Gerber said the letters will describe Congress’ authority and duty to investigate and evaluate laws over which it has legislative authority — in this case, tax-exempt policy. “It’s been extremely rare for tax-exempt groups to decline to cooperate with his requests for information,” she said in a statement.

Basically at this point it appears that Joyce Meyer is the only one who has turned over all the information requested. Kenneth Copeland turned over information, but it’s not clear if he provided all the information that was requested.

It’s sad to not only see pimps, but others of the Religious Industry acting so arrogant and defiant. One would think that for a moment they might humble themselves. And anyone that is not defiant is being pressured to be rebellious in defense of the con-men.

Those who fight the request and stand with those who fight the request stand against not only government, but against the ordinance of God and bring condemnation on themselves, Romans 13.
