The Great Confusion of Seventh Day Adventism

by @ 9:45 pm. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

Below are a good set of videos worth watching related to the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) movement. It will help equip saints to minister to those who have fallen into the cult of Ellen G. White. One of the speakers was part of the SDAs for a very long time and has a message for those still caught up in it.

Seventh Day Adventism Topical Video 1

Seventh Day Adventism Topical Video 2

Please watch both videos above before making comments. Also former SDA member Dr. Russell Earl Kelly has produced a book titled EXPOSING SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISM. While the book is available in full for free on that site, know that Dr. Kelly could use the financial support of anyone who will actually buy his book.

(Efforts to promote the cult of Ellen G. White are not allowed in comments here, 2 John 1:10-11)

Good videos.  One small correction to a comment made by the interviewer: prophecies have three sources, not two. God (obviously), the devil, one’s own heart.  1 Samuel 18:10; Ezekiel 13:2

The truth never gets old.  Hope you watched both in full.  Let’s just say before everybody started trying to act all ecumenical, material like this was much easier to find.  When I was coming up, these were the kinds of videos you’d see promoted to Christians instead of much of what is put out by the Religious Industry these days.

Although I couldn’t view tapes because of my technical malfunctions, I read the link Exposing Seventh Day Adventist.  As I was reading Seventh Day Adventist in a Nutshell, I truly see how heretical these folks are.  Their chuch was ran by a 19th century woman prophet named Ellen White. Second, they are giving exact dates to when Christ returned and since He hasn’t returned, they wondered why.  Well, here’s why.  Matthew 24:36, 2 Thess 5:2-4,  Luke 12:39-40, and there are more to support that this is something you cannot predict.  I remember some people predicting that the end of this world would be around the year 2000.  It has been seven years and it hasn’t happened.  You have to go by the word of God.  I knew close to nothing about the Seventh Day Adventist, but reading it did help me understand more.  They sound worse than the Jehovah’s witnesses.  However this is the age of apostasy.

And now you know, that while I remain watchful I don’t run with everyone that claims they have the "End Times" story all figured out :) .

One of the scriptures you mentioned is actually from 1 Thessalonians 5. Some read that and claim pre-tribulation rapture. I read that and see simply that the Lord’s coming will be like a "theif" for some and victory for others, but all at once and all of a sudden. (Yes post tribulation as Matthew 24 details.)

You have to go by the word of God.

And that alone. Right on sister!

I know an SDA member. We’ve debated years with him still falling for that lie, because he grew up in it. And even with all I knew, I didn’t know much of what is in those videos or mentioned by Dr. Kelly. Because all these cults present a false public face. Even with what they say to folks outside their cult you can figure out they are false, but the more you know, it might help in getting someone out when speaking with them, if the Lord wills. Then we must always remember Romans 16:19. Only learn as needed to equip for good, no need to become the expert in evil.

Good morning, I.C.  The videos are gone, but I have a video called "Seventh-Day Adventism: The Spirit Behind the Church" and it is really good.  But even better than that, one of my sisters is one. This summer, me and another one of my sisters visited her and her husband and I tell ya, it was a true trip.  I used to think that they were just another denomination of Christianity that just got a few things wrong.  Boy was I mistaken. One of the crazy things that the husband said in a loooonnnng bible study the second day of our visit (we were there because we missed our sister, not to be "converted") was that Jesus entered into the Most Holy Place in 1844 (this video explains how they came to that conclusion) and a whole lot of other stuff.  And no matter what the conversation was throughout the weekend, she interjected that the eating of meat is the cause of whatever ails ya.  Drove me completely batty.  They say they are vegetarians and push it vigorousely, but when we looked at some of their imitation meat packaging, there were no vegetables listed in the ingredients; just scientifical words that we could not pronounce.  (Why say that it is a sin to eat meat, then turn around and eat imitation meat?) As I listend to some of the stuff he said, I looked at my sister (who was raised in a Christian home and grew up Baptist) to see if her facial expressions imitated what I was thinking:  "THIS MAN HAS LOST HIS WHOLE MIND!"  But sadly, she either wasn’t hearing what me and my other sister were hearing, or she has truly been brainwashed.

Other crazy stuff was that the tribulation already happened that that the two witnesses in Revelation is the Old and New Testament.  When my other sister proclaimed that God would never call His Word "2 dead bodies" he backed off and said he could not explain it.  By this time, the "Bible Study" was coming to an end.
If I had remembered that my best friend’s husband had just moved to the city we were in, I would have called him and asked him to come and get us till time to catch our plane home in 5 days. Once my sister’s husband realized that we were grounded in the Word of God and not to be moved, he spent the rest of the weekend in his room (how godly was that?). Anyway, this video is really good and can be purchased or watched free here http://www.exadventist.com/store/Home/tabid/388/ProductID/24/Default.aspx .  I know that you don’t support selling stuff, but I believe these people are more interested in getting the truth out.  Their shipping/handling isn’t outrageous, either, like some of these sites that charge $8.00 to ship a DVD (it only costs a little more than a dollar to mail a DVD/CD). Here is another good source for informational videos.  http://www.exadventist.com/store/Home/tabid/388/ProductID/24/Default.aspx

Hi Trayjay, both videos still work, but it seems some people can’t watch them.  Maybe it’s something with it being embedded into my blog.  But try these direct links to the videos.

I’m sorry to hear your sister is apparently brainwashed by that stuff.  I’ve got a cousin (we’ll call her "Cousin A") who has been into it at times.  My family is very much predominantly Christian.  Once some of my cousins were making breakfast, left Cousin A in the kitchen with the bacon and took a peek once Cousin A thought they were gone.  Let’s just say some strips of bacon didn’t stand a chance  .  But Cousin A was hoping to keep up the front that she especially had no desires for pork :D .

The SDA has some of the features noted in 1 Timothy 4:1-5.  The later part of 1 Corinthians 10 also blows away abstinence from meat.  You’d really fall over laughing if you listen to an SDA member try and explain that away.  (I know I almost did when the guy I used to debate about this cult tried to defend against that.)  Paul, an apostle and minister to the GENTILES telling churches in Corinth to eat anything sold at the meat market.  Some try and play like it means something that it does not, but that blows away the meat restrictions.  I’ve also heard some claim Paul was only talking about what Jews of today deem to be "Kosher" meats, but again, Paul was addressing Gentiles in an area where the meat market was not "Kosher" and never did God put restrictions of that sort on followers of Christ.  Basically people creating meat restrictions are trying to pull saints into false doctrine.   Dazzarai had to make this video in closing a discussion with someone who desired for us to follow the Torah.  It also blows away the SDA false doctrine.  There are people who are trying to push Christians to become Torah following Jews and they play off people not knowing the scriptures well enough to refute them.

I like how your sister handled the bogus remarks regarding 2 witnesses.  Also those 2 are supposed to be called back to Heaven by God, Revelation 11.  My word, all our Bibles would disappear  .  Perhaps your being there with him for a time planted a seed that might bear fruit later, depending on the soil Lord willing.

You posted the same link twice.  What was the other link you were trying to post?

I don’t mind when a person or group gives the material way AND offers a means for those who desire to support their efforts a means to pay for it.  I know they can’t make the stuff for free, but some folks make it apparent they are peddling the gospel for the sake of their own belly and not to help the sheep.  I think offering the material for free along with a means to pay support to a group or individual is an excellent way to go about things if you need funding.  Dr. Kelly does it like that too and could put any support given to him to good use.

Lord willing, I’ll be able to always offer my 2 cents free of charge and never request of anyone’s treasure.

  9. trayjay Says:

I.C.  Sorry about the link thing.  The 2nd was http://www.christianreality.com.

Another thing about the eating of meat that many people miss is that God was the ordainer of the eating of meat when Noah and his family got off the Boat.  God was the one who said to Noah in Genesis 9:3-4, "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green vegetables and plants, I give you everything.  But you shall not eat flesh with the life of it, which is its blood."  The only restriction was that it not be eaten raw (or with the blood still in it).  To go as far as to say that is it a sin to do what God started is crazy.  But then to go even further to say that man can do better than God by creating imitation meat is just stupid.  The Lord only knows what’s in it.

They even say that if you go to church on Sunday, you have the mark of the beast.

I pray for my sister and her husband and their kids.  SDA is famous for prostylizing without telling you that they are SDA.  That’s how she got sucked in almost 30 years ago.  Her husband was born into it.  For years she has felt ostricized by the family and I felt bad for her.  But after spending a week with her, I now understand.  The constant shoving of their beliefs down your throat is so offensive till you avoid even sending emails to her.

I just hope to see her come back to Truth before it is too late because with them believing in works for salvation, they are rejecting Christ.  God bless.

Trayjay, please stop holding back and tell us how you really feel about this  .

Yea their whole legalistic Sabbath holding gets knocked down by Colossians 2. I’ve got no problem if someone desires to worship on Saturday or not eat meat, but I do have a problem when they try to pass their legalism off on others who walk in Liberty. But SDAs don’t even understand the true nature of God, so they’ve got more fundamental issues than matters like a day of worship or foods to eat. They’ve turned God into something that really does mimic the heresy of the JWs and given what djenk23 noted, it’s no wonder their doctrine in that area is a mirror image. It fails to respect Jesus as God and fully One with the Father.

A real bottom line is, that some are trying to uphold the 10 commandments, but fail to recognize God has placed a greater set on the hearts of those who embrace His Son in truth, 2 Corinthians 3 and the entire book of Hebrews details this.

The constant shoving of their beliefs down your throat is so offensive till you avoid even sending emails to her.

You know I’ve noticed that about them and the JWs can be like that too.

I just hope to see her come back to Truth before it is too late because with them believing in works for salvation, they are rejecting Christ.

    True.

  11. trayjay Says:

According to the video, "Seventh Day Adventism: The Spirit Behind the Church," JWs broke off from them.  If this is indeed true, that’s why we see so many similarities.  (I call the so-called "JWs" Hallites – not to be offensive, but because they are not Jehovah’s witnesses.  "Hallites" because they go to the kingdom "Hall."  Sometimes I refer to them simply as the Kingdom Hall people.)

  12. art123 Says:

I would like to say that back then for religious reasons, I stopped eating pork and seafood, such as lobster, crab for almost 17 years.  Even now that  I realize that to practice that doesn’t save you, for some reason till this day, I still don’t eat it.   My daughter eats seafood, but not pork.  It is not served in my immediate family.  We just don’t touch it anymore.  I don’t know what to say.  I also believe that God deals with individuals in His own way and too much religion can destroy a person.

I am a former SDA and what has been said in the videos are so very true. The evangelical church needs to be on guard and we all need to heed Jude 3 and be ready to defend the gospel against the sda heresy
