Not every man in church leadership is quietly sitting on his hands while wolves fleece the flock. Some are speaking up, although given they are not seeking personal fame you probably never hear much about them. I found some videos on YouTube of a brother who is calling out the pimps and says he’s a pastor. I don’t know him at all, but I do know what he says in the videos below is true.

This was a good video. The gentleman really showed where God’s interest really is - on the condition of our souls and not the fattening of our wallets. Too bad many prosperity pimps and imps will not give heed to such a timely message because of their own greed and, I dare say laziness and disregard for the Word of God.
One of the last times I visited a prosperity church with a friend, for bible study, all the congregation did was prayed soulish prayers testi-lied the whole night. When the whole thing was over, the friend turned to me and had the audacity to say "Well, I can tell from the look on your face, you were looking for some Word (of God), but sometimes you need to pray" - in the most arrogant and dismissive tone, as if to discount the Word of God. I was completely put off, not just by what happened at that night, but by the fact that this type of dismissive attitude is pervasive within many churches. While there is nothing wrong with prayer, this type of attitude is one of the main reasons why so many people are getting duped by the prosperity lie and will pay to "hear a Word from the Lawd". They have no regard for the Word that has already been spoken and laid out very neatly for them (in the Bible). Ps 138:2 says: …For You have magnified Your word above all Your name…. If God Himself put that much emphasis on His Word, then that’s a good sign that we should hold the Word in higher esteem. It would surely throw a wrench in the deceptive plans of the enemy.

This was good but I noticed that his churches webpage says that his wife is the church’s first lady.
I never understood why pastors do this

Copeland8 - I searched but did not find his church assembly’s web site. Where is it?
If he’s trying to have his assembly hold his own wife above other women as the "first lady" that’s never a good thing, although minor when compared to the heresy he’s calling out.
I think and anyone else can feel free to offer their insight because I’m just offering my thoughts on how the bad practice might have started, but it seems perhaps church pastors got the feeling they were like political heads of state and that their wives should be granted a "first lady" honor as is done with the US President. That’s all I can think of. Still that’s wrong and a pastor is not to "lord" over the flock, not him or his wife although the elders are to be respected for the role of church leadership that they are in. And women can’t be church elders.
I know places that use the "first lady" title are not treating the wife like an elder, but still it’s a facet of man made tradition, that places that pastor’s wife above others in the assembly.
It’s a totally unbiblical practice and the apostles (nobody else in church leadership either) in scripture never played up their wives in such a manner. The pastor’s wife holds no post of leadership over the assembly, figuratively or otherwise. I mean if you’re at that assembly you’re going to find out who his wife is in due time, but it’s not to be a thing where she’s placed above others because she’s married to the pastor. Then there’s the whole issue of having a plurality of elders for proper church leadership and so on, but I’ll stop with that.

Well…like I said, his message in the videos is sound.
Unfortunately I see signs of Azusa in some statements made on their web site, but I think their hearts are sincere in striving to be followers of Christ.
