I sincerely believe this is the wave of the future. It will be very interesting to see who will stand for truth when they are threatened with losing their tax exempt status.

Hi I.C. It’s been a while. My comment on this is simply that Churches and Christian Ministries should remove themselves from the Tax-Exempt status for this very reason. It is simply the government’s way of taping shut the Word of Truth. I like the comment above; it will surely tell the tale of who’s who when it comes to financial compromise. I believe that the Lord is moving on many to not even go the exempt way for this very reason. People start churches and ministries without stopping to inquire to God about Tax-Exempt status. We need to wake up and realize where we are on the time clock. Thanks for the info.

I was not going to mention it in this post because I think Dennis is right in saying that in the end those who are on the Lord’s side will not bow for money.

I was going to leave it at that.

But I agree with you trayjay, it would be good for folks to think about not even being tax exempt to begin with. And when I look at scripture such as Mark 12:13-17, Romans 13:6-7 and 1 Peter 2:13-17, I see no reason why churches should avoid paying taxes. In fact, churches should be the first in line TO PAY. Scripture makes no distinction between individuals and a church as a group regarding taxes, but pastors today enjoy and protect a separation that has no foundation in scripture. Scripture says pay.

I know some claim that not being taxed prevents government from interfering in church matters, but if churches were paying right along with everyone else, then the church (as a whole) could HONESTLY PREACH THE GOSPEL. The church could stand on beliefs without fear of losing something. The church could then freely call any politician on the carpet if needed. Any politician trying to attack the church and inhibit preaching the Word could be then called out by name AT ELECTION TIME without any masking. (In a respectful manner as a Christian should.) Not that churches should always dabble in politics, but it would free the church to speak as openly as anyone else. Sure in this case the church refused to cave in, but some churches do cave in over things like this. Showing where their heart really is.

I blogged about this last month with much of the same conclusions I guess. My points:

    1. Churches need to immediately rethink voluntary enslavement to the government via “tax exempt status”. We predicted several years ago that this would be used as weapon against churches who refused the advances of homosexuals.

    2. Laws being proposed (i.e. hate crimes legislation) will eventually be the noose from the tree for churches who do not bend to the homosexualization of the church.

    3. Churches and pastors should immediately review their policies, procedures and ethics and ensure they will withstand further intrusion of social activism by homosexuals.

    Thanks IC!

In 1988, I resigned from the United Methodist Church, for several reasons. One of the main ones was that the denomination could not decide whether homosexual behavior was sinful or not. They later decided that it was, but the vote gets closer every Annual Conference (at least here in NY,) as though Scripture’s clarity is now subject to revision, reinterpretation and debate.

In 2005, the Lord sent me back to work with a local church, as I prepare for the Pastorate myself. I have seen since my return that there has been an influx of pro gay clergy, and the tide is turning. I have even heard a Pastor say from the Pulpit that the issue of Homosexual clergy, and gay marriage is today’s version of the circumcision debate in the Early church. My point is this. I am sure that they are quietly pleased by this decision, and as such will not fight.

I am sure that were the Wesley’s actually in their graves and not present with the Lord, they’d be spinning

So then what are all the verses in scripture speaking against homosexuality, sodomy and calling it all sexual immorality about now? 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and Revelation 21:8 promised nothing but HELL and burning in the lake of fire for homosexuals that will not repent in Christ. Paul told those who were into homosexuality to stop. Paul, full of the Holy Spirit hearing from God through Christ via the Holy Spirit. If they want to replace “circumcision” with “homosexuality”, then what will they replace “homosexuality” with in the scriptures condemning it? I’ve heard they try and claim it can be replaced with “child molestation”, but that fails to show a consistency in scripture of the abomination that men were stoned for in the old covenant still being sin in the new covenant. Although because of God’s grace and Jesus already coming and being resurrected, we don’t seek the old covenant way any more and simply seek to have homosexuals repent, no stones.

By trying to alter one thing in scripture, they end up turning ALL of scripture into a joke. It makes the words of Christ in Mark 10:6-9 of no effect. Which makes Christ a liar or the pro-gay crowd worships another jesus. Since I know Christ did not lie, I’ll go with the later. They have made their own “jesus” because Jesus wanting men (and women) to control their bodies simply does not “work” for them.

The person saying such things should repent fast, they have tried to take away from the Word of God.

Revelation 22:19 (New King James Version)

    19) and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Not only does the homosexual condemn themselves to hell fire if they don’t repent, the people who alter scripture on behalf of the homosexual condemn themselves to the same.

Don’t even eat with them, 1 Corinthians 5. Unless they repent, have nothing to do with them.
