Christless Christianity and How to be Pimp Free

by @ 10:46 am. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

People often ask me and others who work to expose error and ensure scripture is rightfully divided, if we have a sort of “good list”. A list of people we approve of. I must say, that while I do note those in error and also reference material of ministers speaking the truth here on this blog, I think it’s faulty to try looking for a “good list” when it comes to ministers. Don’t put your trust in me. Don’t put your trust in a list. You must learn to rightfully divide scripture. You must learn to know the truth for yourself.

Acts 17:10-12 (New King James Version)

10) Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11) These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

12) Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.

Ask the Lord for wisdom.

James 1:5-8 (New King James Version)

5) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

6) But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

7) For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

8 ) he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Like those Jews who accepted Christ in Berea, you must study the scriptures yourself. EVERY SINGLE WORD you hear coming from the mouth of someone in the pulpit or other media must be compared with a rightly divided view of the scriptures. If the words don’t line up, avoid the person. If they can’t rightfully divide the word of God, how can they help you learn? You have to get a good foundational understanding via your study of scripture. I know many feel and say “I don’t have time to read the Bible that much and reference materials to learn it all for myself”. I was there once myself. I wanted to walk into a building on Sunday and have some guy just explain it to me in a nicely condensed fashion. I figured if somebody else knew it and just gave me the quick notes version I’d be alright. I mean I was busy, I had work to do and matters to tend to. I must say, that view is what once left me falling for any junk the pulpit pimps would say. How could I discern the pimps from the guys telling the truth? Both reference the Bible. So I’d end up listening to the guy that I thought sounded right, but I was really only going for the guys that sounded good in my ears. I was basically seeking to have my ears tickled, without even knowing it.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 (New King James Version)

3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

4) and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

Without knowing it, I had heaped teachers of false doctrine onto myself, such as Eddie Long and believed people who claimed Joel Osteen and TD Jakes were preaching truth. (Eddie Long calls Jakes his “father”.) All of us weak in a proper understanding of scripture and falling for bad doctrine.

Well one day I stopped with the excuses and started reading more scripture for myself. If a minister cited a verse, I’d read the entire chapter or more to make sure that verse was used in proper context. I started noticing that some pastors were taking verses and using them TOTALLY OUTSIDE of the actual intent. And I must say, what really moved me away from false doctrine is the fact I have children. Even if I would remain with a bad teacher and had the ability to cite his error and convey it to my wife, I knew my children deserved better. They would need to come up in sound doctrine and while I could offer it, to do so while continually disagreeing with the leaders of the assembly we attended would set a bad example. And we are supposed to FLEE bad doctrine.

1 Timothy 6:10-11 (New King James Version)

10) For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11) But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

How could I be DOING the will of the Lord if I remained? And yea I tried telling leadership about the issues, it didn’t change anything. Although someone I told ended up leaving too. I didn’t know they left too till after I was gone and we talked later.

Knowing I should walk and grow in truth is what ultimately led me to leave and seek an assembly walking in truth. There is no “perfect” church, but you can do better than the pimps. (I’m not here to advertise where I attend, just to help you learn truth and seek it for yourself. So no need in asking where I attend currently.) The kids were my mental tipping point. And I think many who see they might be in an assembly full of error want help finding an assembly that walks in truth. This is an answer best not to be answered with a pre-set “list”. It is an answer best given via prayer and seeking in spirit and truth. Any “list” would bind someone to the maker of the list. The list would easily be corrupted. You want to be bound to the Lord and have that bond rooted in your own proper understanding of scripture. Then, while you search you’ll know truth when you see it. I and others often point out error, but we do it with the hope that you will see the truth.

Study the scriptures, so you know if what others say is truth or error. Learn to rightfully divide scripture. Learn the difference between old covenant and new covenant. You must study the history and words of scripture. You will have to do much study on your own. You will have to seek to learn for yourself. You will have to devote time to it. Is your soul worth the effort?

You must strive to walk in truth, read Ephesians 4.

Christless Christianity

Now having said all of that, once you know truth, you’ll know truth flows from Christ. Those in error stray from Him and all the truth He has taught to man. Our brother YouTube user bezel333 has another great video, that notes how most of today’s popular preachers stray from the truth. Check it out below.

Christless Christianity

Also, he has a video that notes in particular some of the issues with Joel Osteen. Because Joel has never studied and has never shown himself to be approved to be a minister of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Joel Osteen and pastoral training

Here’s the comment I left there on YouTube under that video:

“It’s another gospel is what it is…”

You said it right correctly brother. Joel Osteen is not preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

One has to learn the truth before they can share it with others. Not that it “must be” via a seminary, but a teacher must first learn for themselves before they can teach others.

Study to know the Lord Jesus Christ in Spirit and in Truth.

And another thing I’ll mention. If you find you are being pimped, after you’re out of there, don’t hate the pimp. Forgive the pimp (you’re supposed to be the saint, remember) and work to help others to see they also are being pimped. Still we must continue to strive for truth, contend for the faith and expose error.

    IC, I totally concur with your write-up. Scripture says,”As many as are led by the spirit of God are the true sons of God”(Rom.8v14).Let God’s word be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path(psalm 119v105). “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord..”(Psalm 37v23). My prayer is simply based on(proverbs3v5-6),that as you and I trust completely in the Lord and lean not on our own understanding, and acknowledge Him in ALL our ways, that He will continue to direct our path through the power of the Holy spirit.Amen.
