For you who use Quicken, there are several indicators that show Quicken 2008 probably will be released any day now.

• Amazon.com is taking pre-orders for the book “Quicken 2008: The Official Guide”, which is slated for release on September 15, 2007. I figure the software is going to be out prior to that book’s release. It would make no sense to release the book before the software is even available.
• On the About.com Financial Software blog, Shelley Elmblad notes in a post dated July 28, 2007:
  

  I will be getting a chance to see Quicken 2008 in action next week but I do not know if it will release before that date or just after.

  She also found that Quicken 2008 has been for sale on the German version of Amazon.com for some time now. (Since May.)

• A “Freebies” blog noted back in June, that Intuit was looking for Quicken 2008 Beta testers.
• CNet.com notes that Quicken 2007 was release on 8/1/2006 and that Quicken 2006 was released on 8/1/2005.

  
  If the folks at Intuit remain consistent, there might be a release announcement for Quicken 2008 TODAY!

I didn’t hear good things about Quicken 2007, so hopefully the guys at Intuit will be able to make good with the initial release of Quicken 2008.

update 8/6/2007 11:03AM: Provantage.com is one of many sites now taking pre-orders for Quicken 2008. See their Financial Software page, scroll to about the middle of the page to see Quicken 2008 on sale. I called and asked them when it will ship and they have a “non-guaranteed” ship date of “mid-August”. So Quicken 2008 looks like it will release very soon!

update 8/13/2007 8:41AM: Quicken.com started taking pre-orders for Quicken 2008 today.

When I clicked their pre-order link I noticed the following message:

Quicken will begin shipping Quicken 2008 products the week of August 27, 2007.

So the mystery is over. Quicken 2008 will release the week of 8/27.
