Georgia Supreme Court Says a Voter ID Requirement is OK!

Oh the Liberals are all angry about this one.

Ga. Supreme Court rejects challenge to voter ID law Reverses ruling that found it unconstitutional

The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday threw out a challenge to the state’s voter ID law, ruling that the plaintiff who brought the case did not have legal standing to do it.

The court’s decision reverses a ruling last September by a Fulton County judge who found the law unconstitutional.

The State Election Board chose not to require voters to show a photo identification in last November’s elections after Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford Jr. found the ID law was an unlawful prerequisite on the right to vote.

The state Supreme Court’s decision, written by Justice Harold Melton, found that plaintiff Rosalind L. Lake would not have been harmed by the 2006 law and, as a result, lacked standing to bring the lawsuit in the first place.

In July 2006, Lake, who had moved from Florida to Georgia, qualified as a first-time voter at the polls, Melton wrote. For this reason, she could have voted in person without the need to show a photo ID, and she has made no contention that she did not have any of the forms of non-photo IDs allowed to be shown by first-time voters, the ruling said.

“As a result, Lake was qualified to vote in person under the 2006 Act at the time that she filed her complaint, and as a first-time voter who was qualified to vote at the time she filed her complaint, Lake lacked standing to challenge the constitutionality of the 2006 Act,” the ruling said.

The state Supreme Court’s ruling was unanimous. Justice Carol Hunstein recused herself from the case and was replaced by Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Debra Bernes.

Liberals have been practically pulling out their teeth to prevent a law that will curb abuse at the polls. All their bogus claims of how it would impact the elderly and others should now be put to rest. They’ve lost their old voting dead at the polls trick and now they’ve lost another method of abuse. Of course this is not over though, because absentee ballots are still ripe for abuse, but this was a good start.

And once we get English as the official language of this nation, we can have ballots in ENGLISH ONLY. That will save taxpayers some money and help to press LEGAL immigrants to learn the common language. Georgia has also been leading the way in dealing with illegal immigrants, but of course there is more to be done regarding that issue too. At least with the voter ID law an illegal with a stolen identity will be less likely to try and vote.

    It ain’t over yet.
The Black Progressives of 2007 are going to look for a Black person who is a VICTIM to file a lawsuit. They swear that what they are doing is in line with what Rosa Parks had done years ago to bring the issue of segregation on public transit to a head.

Where as in Birmingham BLACKS were specifically targeted for discrimination and thus it was wrong in this case one has to assume the racist notion that ALL BLACKS ARE POOR, FEEBLE AND WE CAN’T MANAGE TO KEEP UP WITH OUR DRIVERS LICENSE/STATE ISSUED ID so thus this is like a poll tax.

The problem with our so called leaders is that they are not able to MOVE US FORWARD as a race because they seek to lower standards and play to the interests of the most extreme least among us.

Please note that in the 4 years that this has been an issue THERE HAS BEEN NO SUSTAINED EFFORT TO GET PEOPLE A PHOTO ID. This speaks volumes.

Well I see them as “those so-called leaders” not “our so-called leaders” :D . I make no claims to them or the notion that I need someone to play the role. I’m doing great without them :D .

Yea I figure they’ll come with a new trick some time later, but they’ve already cried so much beforehand that various provisions are already in place, that will make any claims difficult at best. I don’t think their efforts will work.

Of course they are not trying to get anyone a photo ID, because they know everybody who goes to the polls already has one. Anyone who can get out to vote at the polls needs a photo ID for much of the other stuff they do. The people without them are voting via absentee ballot. Which needs to be addressed next. And I can’t name a single person in my family over 16 years old that does not have a photo ID.
