Imagine you’re someone who is too sick or elderly to attend a church service on the biggest celebration in the Christian faith? The day the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated. I call it Resurrection Sunday, you might call it Easter Sunday, but let’s not debate that point today. The core concern is, on Resurrection Sunday you would hope that a pastor can minister something about the resurrection and it’s significance. Some might claim otherwise, but unless Jesus had provided what he called the “sign of the prophet Jonah” in his resurrection, the moment he rebuilt the torn down temple in 3 days, there would be no Christian faith. (Which is why some non-Christians have tried to disprove the resurrection unsuccessfully.) Without the resurrection we have no intercessor at the Right had of the Father. Without the resurrection how could we who accept Jesus into our hearts have everlasting life when our Lord and Savior is dead? Obviously, it’s pretty significant to say the least. So you’re that person who can’t make it out to a church service, but you know it’s a pretty big day for Christians, typically the day people who don’t know much at all about Jesus might actually check out something that is Christian. You decide to tune into Joel Osteen’s TV broadcast on Resurrection Sunday, so sad. And you can see why in the video below. The brother, YouTube user ID bezel333, who did the excellent Christ Centered Preaching video caught Joel’s broadcast. See what he discovered.
Notice how Osteen tosses in a quickie Confession to Jesus at the end? Spends the entire time ignoring Jesus and talking about a message based in SELF and then he jumps up and mentions Jesus during his standard issue confession at the end. This disingenuous call to Christ is nothing new. I told you how I watched Jamal-Harrison Bryant pimp the poor for money and then asked them to accept Jesus. This is like the standard trick of heresy speakers all over our TV screens, on the radio and even peddling selling books. They spew their mess the full time and if they mention “jesus”, they speak of some person who wanted them to have a mansion on earth and earthly prosperity, when my Jesus promised mansions in Heaven and turned down Satan’s offer for riches in Luke 4:5-8. And at the very end, they tack on a call for people to confess their sins to Jesus and accept him into their hearts. After a full misrepresentation of God almighty, they think a quickie confession at the end will make everything good, I’m telling you that Joel Osteen is playing a VERY dangerous game with God.

I was recently approached by a Mormon missionary. Needless to say, given my understanding of that cult I engaged the missionary to tell him the truth, namely about how that cult twisted the truth of God and how twisted a man Joseph Smith Jr. really was. The Mormon gave me their standard issue “I know by the fruit” line and I immediately informed the Mormon that a man who has 34 wives AFTER JESUS SAID one man and one woman is bearing bad fruit. Because the Mormon attempted to compare Joseph Smith’s polygamy with some Biblical figures who had multiple wives. I also noted that Joseph Smith Jr. has misled MILLIONS about who God is, which is the worst of his fruit. Teaching them lies about God being some offspring of another, that attained “god” status via good works. All lies. Anyway, I showed the Mormon the bad rotten fruit and he along with his companion walked away gnawing on rotten fruit and refusing to accept the truth. Which I expected might happen, but just the same I know at least one of them realized that Joseph Smith was not the saint he once thought he was. Which might help bring him to better see the truth. But whether it’s Joseph Smith Jr., Joel Osteen or someone else twisting who Jesus is, it is a path that diverts from the truth and should be avoided.
Since this might be the only post I make about my latest encounter with some Mormon missionaries, I want to say, there were some kids who felt they needed to yell obscenities at the Mormons while I was speaking with them. I think parents need to teach their children that while cults exists, we make no headway in showing cult members the truth through our Lord Jesus by yelling obscenities. We should either if so led share the truth with them or say nothing at all.

Good morning, IC. I don’t think Joel is playing with God. I think he knows exactly what he is doing. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has daily prayer with satan himself in the mornings. Joel and all the rest of the seeker friendly liars who consistently comfort their congregation with a “You don’t have to rid sin from your life, just have a good heart” message are accursed because they preach against the true Gospel (Gal. 1:8-9), while telling them they will be blessed by God in their sin. I once heard someone call him Reverend Cotton Candy. That fits. It’s nice and sweet to taste, but will rot your teeth out. Jesus (I call Him Y’Shua) is the Whole Truth. You can’t preach Him in halves. Joel isn’t even doing that – telling them that they can disobey over and over again because God will always give them another chance. That sounds like the enemy saying “Go ahead and do your thing. God will give you another chance.” while drooling over the Mack truck that is approaching to run you over. People die every day without the Lord. How do you tell them that lie and have a conscience? No. I don’t think he’s playing with God; I think he is calculatedly leading people to Hell. It would be nice if I’m wrong about that, but his fruit taste of those men mentioned in Jude.
By the way, I’m glad you call it Resurrection Sunday. I cringe when I hear Christians still calling it easter.
