Woman (Judith Dadd) Sues Church After Being Injured by a So-Called “Slain in Spirit” Experience. “Assemblies of God” Parlor Trick Injures Woman!

by @ 2:31 pm. Filed under Nuts on Parade

Bottom line, there is no scriptural basis for this slain in the spirit mess that is going on at some church meetings. I’ve already explained it is total mind manipulation and offered reference to more details.

For you who have not been in many charismatic churches, you’ll be reading some things here you never knew about. But given my upbringing I need to cover it, to help those who are victims of bad teaching, to better understand the truth.

A lady named Judith Dadd was a member of the Mount Hope Church in Lansing, Michigan (Delta Township) and claims she was slain in the spirit, fell back, bumped her head and was injured because nobody caught her. There has been testimony that her pastor assured everyone that anyone falling out would be caught. This church is part of the Assemblies of God organization. The organization that spawned such nonsense as Jimmy Swaggart. That’s right, this bunch that claims you’ve got to be tongue talking to be filled with the Holy Spirit, has people falling all over the place. Before Benny Hinn was running this game, Jimmy Swaggart was the big TV preacher pimp and this organization was behind him all the way, until his sex scandal.

The Assemblies of God had Jim Bakker as one of their own until he was exposed.

The Assemblies of God’s big name in Australia is big money pulpit pimp Brian Houston. I guess this is an appropriate time to expose him here. I want you to watch this nut in action, because if you have not seen his pimp game, you’ve really missed a nut in full bloom. A viper of the highest order! Watch the video below, it’s not a comedy skit, the start is Brian Houston pimping and peddling, then later in the video you see some other pimps you probably already know, Kenneth Copeland and Creflo Augustus Dollar Junior.

The Gospel of Greed! The Gospel of God TV
God TV is to Australia what TBN is to America, trash!

The Assemblies of God allows that foolishness done by Brian Houston to fly with their banner on it. The denomination/organization is using emotionalism, to straight pimp people and that is how they continue to grow their ranks. All these pimps are pretty much using the same bag of tricks.

These groups that claim you must do tongue talking never say much about scripture like this:

Acts 8:14-25 (New King James Version)

14) Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

15) who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

16) For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

17) Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

18) And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

19) saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

20) But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!

21) You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.

22) Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

23) For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”

24) Then Simon answered and said, “Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me.”

25) So when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

Notice, no mention of tongue talking.

Talking in tongues was used to minister to people who spoke another language, but nobody in the Assemblies of God bunch is using their supposed tongue talking for this purpose. From personal knowledge I know they are not following the rules for tongue talking that Paul prescribed in 1 Corinthians 14 and they mistakenly treat a minor gift of the spirit that Paul said would CEASE as if it’s a major gift, see 1 Corinthians 13. They are not able to muster it for it’s true intent, don’t follow the rules for it and I say they are babbling while blaming it on the Holy Spirit. No Christian out there babbling is mustering such babbling to speak to ANY UNBELIEVER of another language. I say that particular gift, being minor has ceased and nobody is able to muster it to prove different. Once you show me a pack of Jews, that accept Jesus because some Christian who never learned Hebrew spoke in tongues and ministered to them via the Holy Spirit, I’ll rescind my current position on the matter. In the mean time I’ll work on the greater gifts of the Spirit that Paul noted. Look at where Paul spoke of putting away childish things, if you give it an honest read you’ll have to admit something to yourself about tongue talking.

So they don’t follow the Bible on tongues and run with a made up thing called being “slain in the spirit”. Well, having people fall for made up things can be painful, for the person falling for it.

Pastor: Litigant will be watched

After ‘Slain in Spirit’ suit filed, church told of plan

CHARLOTTE - Days after Judith Dadd filed a lawsuit against her former pastor and church, the pastor told between 400 and 600 church members Dadd would be under 24-hour surveillance.

“It’s gonna be tough to live like that,” Pastor David R. Williams said in an audio recording of a July 21, 2005, rally at Mount Hope Church in Delta Township.

Dadd is suing the church and its pastor for negligence and defamation. She said she went to the altar during a July 18, 2002, service and was “overcome by the Spirit of the Lord,” according to the lawsuit.

She fell backward and struck her head, causing teeth from a hair clip to burrow into her scalp. She said ushers should have been there to catch her, as they had in the past.

Dadd is seeking unspecified damages in excess of $25,000 for her injuries as well as for emotional distress, stemming from a letter written by Williams as well as the statements he made to church members.

Dadd said in often tearful testimony she felt like the pastor was labeling her an enemy.

“The man who preached to me for so many years … had turned on me,” said Dadd, who began attending the church in the mid 1980s.

Dadd, who did not have medical insurance, testified she paid the medical bills herself. Her attorney, Richard Rashid, submitted documentation to the court Friday, showing that Dadd had sent bills to the church’s insurance company in 2002.

Another church official testified earlier this week that he didn’t believe Dadd cooperated with the insurance company.

Dadd testified she went to church officials in February 2003, seeking help with her medical bills. She said they told her all they could do was help her get in touch with the church’s insurance company.

She said a claims adjustor told her the maximum they could pay for medical bills was $5,000, even though her bills exceeded that amount.

Dadd said she still suffers from the effects of the fall, including increased symptoms of depression, memory loss and difficulty concentrating.

Here’s more details.

Witness: Woman not same after fall at church

Trained ushers at the 4,000-member church should have been there to catch her, as they had in the past, one of Dadd’s attorneys, Richard Rashid, said during opening arguments. But no one called 911 or even applied a Band-Aid that day, according to testimony Tuesday.

Bobbie Miller, who was at the service and is now a pastor of her own local church, said her friend Judith Dadd was not the same person after the incident.

Other church members helped Dadd to a bathroom, where Miller testified she used paper towels to “sop up the blood.” Miller described how she pulled broken pieces of a hair clip out of Dadd’s scalp.

Williams previously had assured church members they would be caught if they fell, said Bobbie Miller’s husband, Peter, who that day videotaped a close-up of Dadd’s injury.

The woman was injured, the church didn’t help her any more than their insurance allowed. That is just wrong. They led her to feel that it’s the work of God and that they would catch her. Of course if this slain in the spirit game were not being played this would not be a problem. Even the physical hand of Jesus himself touching people didn’t strike like a blow from Mike Tyson. The apostles put their hands on many people, no knockouts recorded from putting hands on a person who was simply trying to be a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus. And I dare any of you to claim you know a person who has done more with the Holy Spirit working through them than the apostles. Today you are seeing a pack of babbling frauds, that tell you they are working in the spirit and encourage you to get involved in their emotional side show. (See Eddie Long and Steve Munsey playing the babbling game. And here’s another.) Don’t fall for it! Read your Bible and see the workings of the Holy Spirit and THE PURPOSE for various events versus what you are seeing today from folks who instruct you to babble and pass out on the floor.

I forgive those who misled me for many years regarding the workings of the Holy Spirit, but I refuse to sit idle and watch others be abused.

Now here’s an interesting statement from that 2nd article.

Dadd’s friend, Cynthia Woodard, raised the possibility that a person who is “slain in the Spirit” cannot be injured.

“In my opinion,” Woodard told Bodwin, “I don’t see why someone should be hurt.”

I recall this line from when I went to places that said the Holy Ghost makes people fall out. The opinion was, that when people fall they are in the spirit and so they would not be injured. So if someone said they felt a little something when they fell, the view was that maybe that person was not in the spirit. Well if it was all the spirit and nobody gets hurt in such cases, there would never be a need to catch anybody in the first place! And all these supposed tongue talkers would not have an interpreter standing beside them when they take their shows overseas.

Now I do believe God is still healing some people, although I highly advise taking all of a doctor’s advice because he should be able to confirm such healing or it never happened. Jesus and the apostles have never had a recorded instance of a relapse after someone was healed! But you have to wonder, if the slain in the spirit tongue talkers are telling the truth, why if somebody gets hurt from falling over, these supposed Holy Spirit filled babblers can’t pray the healing right there on the spot? Then have the doctor check and confirm. Surely the bump on the head would be enough to help someone to have a little faith that they would be healed. The fact is, that charismatic groups don’t like these things being reported, because it exposes that they are not actually working in the spirit like they claim to be. When the disciples could not heal, Jesus didn’t say the person they prayed for had no faith, read Matthew 17:14-21. I say all who allow prayer have enough faith and Paul was able to see a dead man rise up. See Acts 20:7-12, how much faith does a dead body have? Don’t believe those who claim you or somebody else not healed didn’t have enough faith. Either it’s not the Lord’s will or the person who attempted to pray is the one with a faith problem.

Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit coming like this:

John 16:5-15 (New King James Version)

5) “But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’

6) But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

7) Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

8) And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9) of sin, because they do not believe in Me;

10) of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

11) of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

12) “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

13) However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

14) He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

15) All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

Notice the Holy Spirit does not talk all manner of junk, but glorifies the Lord. Also, notice Jesus is talking about 3 entities working as one, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Not “Jesus only” as the Oneness folks would have you believe. Not 3 gods, but One God who is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 2 married people are 1 flesh and Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the One and Only True God. All that Jesus said the Holy Spirit would do after his physical body went away is recorded in scripture and so now when the Holy Spirit does anything, it should 100% line up with scripture.

This is why the Father by Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit inspired John to write:

1 John 4:1 (New King James Version)

1) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Those who tell you to give them money to get something are denying the true power of God. Those that tell you to roll on the floor every week have no foundation for their instructions and play on your emotions. Those telling you to babble with no understanding of what you said and no known human language being spoken to bring someone to Christ are butchering scripture, abusing authority and bearing false witness of the power of God.

I love you enough to tell you the truth, even if that brings discomfort.

  1. healtheland Says:

Just thought I would interject: not all Assemblies of God are like this. It is primarily the ones on TV making the rest of them look bad, which incidentally can be said for virtually every fundamentalist and evangelical (boy do I hate those titles) denomination.

  2. IndependentConservative Says:

Correct, but the head of the organization endorses and condones the mess that they see going on.

To those in the AoG that do not agree with the mess, I say to them the same thing I say to Episcopalians that disagree with homosexuals being put up as “bishop”. They need to leave the organization. All the “change from within” stuff is not working and both the organizations (AoG and Episcopal) trend towards getting worse overall. (Episcopals violating rules for bishops continually and AoG not just violating rules regarding the Holy Spirit, but now also in concert with prosperity doctrine.) Those who stay in these organizations are having THEIR MONEY put towards the continuation of leadership that condones the mess. And that leadership is not going to stop what they are doing, they are happy to see each check clear the bank. Every minister that carries the AoG banner is paying every month to do so and sees what they are funding.

I had to walk away myself from stuff that was not correct.
