Melvin Jones, who runs the Pulpit Pimps blog. A place taking note of those who abuse the faith by twisting scripture, did an interview with Stand Up Ministry recently. You can hear the interview by going to the Stand Up Ministry radio program archives and selecting the link “2007, April 12 (970 AM).mp3″.
The program opened with the scriptural basis for their discussion. One passage mentioned, that those who take issue with these efforts need to learn is:
Romans 16:17-18 (New King James Version)

Notice we are to “note” those who divide the body of Christ, the church. Those who divide by teaching things that are “contrary to the doctrine which you learned”; that is contrary to the rightly divided Word of God. And we are to avoid them. If I avoid them and love you, certainly I’m going to share my notes with you openly. And the Word of God instructs us to be public about leaders in the church that go astray.
1 Timothy 5:19-20 (New King James Version)

Butchering scripture to the point, that the instruction is that the poor should give, rather than give to the poor is total sin. I said total sin!
They covered The Sacrilege of T.D. Jakes. Not my blog post about it mind you, but the issues we are trying to warn you folks about. I highly recommend checking the audio out.
Melvin says he will be doing the show again in the future. Pray for the brother, that the Lord helps him to persevere. The church needs this effort to continue and there are those who WILL work to stop it.
