Having looked into them both cults, I was thinking what has been fully written out at this site. That Muslims and Mormons have far more in common than they probably know.

While Muslims claims Christ was a Muslim and Mormons claim that they are Christians, neither realizes both claims are false, but they each have more in common with each other than the Christ they claim to be their own.

Read that entire writeup. Some of it assumes you already have a working knowledge of the history of both Islam and Mormonism, but it should still all makes sense to you.
