Halliburton Shifting its Corporate Headquarters From Houston to Dubai. That is Bad News!

by @ 5:04 pm. Filed under Business, Questionable Items

Now this is a shocker I just read in the Wall Street Journal online:

Halliburton Expands Mideast Presence; CEO to Spend More Time in Dubai (WSJ.com registration required)

Mr. Lesar said that from his Dubai office he will be concentrating on building the Houston-based oil-services company’s business with national oil companies in the Eastern Hemisphere, including Asia, Africa and the Middle East. “Growing our business here will bring more balance to Halliburton’s overall portfolio,” Mr. Lesar said in a statement.

From the statement:

Halliburton Plans Dubai Headquarters (WSJ.com registration required)

Halliburton Company announced today at a regional energy conference in the Kingdom of Bahrain the opening of a corporate headquarters office in the United Arab Emirates. Halliburton Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Lesar will move to Dubai to lead the company’s efforts in growing Halliburton’s business in the Eastern Hemisphere, an important market for the global oil and gas industry.

An American company is moving its headquarters to the UAE! That’s not good. I suspect that Halliburton will avoid paying taxes on plenty of their earnings with this move, while giving more recognition to a nation that was befriending Osama bin Laden not long ago.

Did’nt Vice President Dick Cheney used to be the CEO of this particular company?

To add, it’s not personal folks, just business that these American corporations are moving overseas.  Are they planning a famine over here?
