Biden has made so many racist statements in his time it’s getting hard to keep up. On top of those mentioned in my previous post, I found a Liberal leaning blog that has helped to refresh my memory about some other racist crap spewed from the mouth of Biden.
It was unlike most Columbia Rotary Club luncheons.
The speaker was U.S. Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, a likely candidate for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.

The senator then pounced on a member’s announcement that the club would hold its annual Christmas party at the state Department of Archives and History where members could view the original copy of the state’s Articles of Secession.
Biden asked, “Where else could I go to a Rotary Club where (for a) Christmas party the highlight is looking at the Articles?”
Biden was on a roll.
Delaware, he noted, was a “slave state that fought beside the North. That’s only because we couldn’t figure out how to get to the South. There were a couple of states in the way.”
The crowd loved it.

Let me remind you, Articles of Secession were not politically correct and they did not sugar coat their reasons for wanting to leave the Union. All state articles of secession I’ve read always list their first specific grievance with the Union as the issue of slavery and their desire to maintain it. In the case of South Carolina’s Articles of Secession, slavery is the only specific issue they raised. It was the only stated reason that state chose to split with the Union. Here’s a rotten gem from South Carolina’s Articles of Secession, the document that Senator Biden enjoyed talking about.

A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery. He is to be entrusted with the administration of the common Government, because he has declared that that “Government cannot endure permanently half slave, half free,” and that the public mind must rest in the belief that slavery is in the course of ultimate extinction.
This sectional combination for the submersion of the Constitution, has been aided in some of the States by elevating to citizenship, persons who, by the supreme law of the land, are incapable of becoming citizens; and their votes have been used to inaugurate a new policy, hostile to the South, and destructive of its beliefs and safety.
On the 4th day of March next, this party will take possession of the Government. It has announced that the South shall be excluded from the common territory, that the judicial tribunals shall be made sectional, and that a war must be waged against slavery until it shall cease throughout the United States.
The guaranties of the Constitution will then no longer exist; the equal rights of the States will be lost. The slaveholding States will no longer have the power of self-government, or self-protection, and the Federal Government will have become their enemy.
Sectional interest and animosity will deepen the irritation, and all hope of remedy is rendered vain, by the fact that public opinion at the North has invested a great political error with the sanction of more erroneous religious belief.

Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., not only played up the document that endorsed the preservation of slavery in South Carolina, he even went on to remind everyone his state engaged in slavery too. And he then went on to imply that Delaware should have joined the Confederacy, to preserve slavery. In modern times you’d be hard pressed to get more disgusting than that without attending a Klan rally!
Biden even went on FoxNews to play up his state’s ties to the inhumane institution known as slavery.
