He’s asking the NC Attorney General’s office to take over the case. Nifong is on the run and trying to get someone else to drop the case, while taking his name out of the spotlight.

Also Nifong spoke with the alien abducted stripper accuser yesterday. (I say alien abducted, because that’s the only way I see her story having any remote possibility of being true .)

So one day he speaks with the stripper accuser and the next we hear he’s asking to be taken off the case. Did he tell her he was running off the case and she better think things over? Or did he hear something from the accuser yesterday that made him ask to be removed?

I still say they both need to be put on trial and only members of last year’s Duke Men’s Lacrosse team should be allowed on the jury. Since Nifong and the accuser fixed things against them, in my opinion.

update 1/13/2007 4:14PM: North Carolina’s AG office has agreed to take over the case. I suspect it will be very quiet for some months and then they will drop the case. We’ll see if they charge Nifong and the accuser with anything. Allahpundit sees a civil suit coming.
