It is just amazing that the first major protest with thousands of people walking the streets of New Orleans to protest against violent crime (not Bush or other matters) was a protest with mostly White protesters. When most of the people being shot are Black. So much for that evil White man claim. They were protesting that their elected Black mayor, Ray Nagin is not doing enough to address the thugs.

That report mentions “hundreds” and so does this Times-Picayune report, but this AP report says that the police estimated the crowed to be 5,000 strong. I’ll go with the police estimate, simply because it’s probably the most reliable source when it comes to estimating crowd size.

I’m glad this protest happened. I heard radio reports that mentioned the protesters were encouraging people to tell police information regarding crime in their area. They want to work with the police, not against them and I only wish more of the protesters looked like the majority of people who are being shot.

I pray God helps them to be able to live in peace and the thugs in their area are brought to justice.
