It looks like everybody is trying to run from their dirt while much of the media is on vacation. Now the Democrats and John Conyers are trying to slide out news that congressman Conyers is corrupt. Of course they are using a massive amount of sugar coating and spin.
Conyers accepts responsibility for possible ethics violations

Really the admission is weak and the reprimand light. Conyers admits to a “lack of clarity” regarding the rules. Someone in Congress as long as him knows the rules and this is a lame excuse. He’s not being pulled from any positions of leadership and he’s not resigning. So the Democrats have basically released a statement to try and make things look as if something is being done, while allowing the man who is dirty to retain everything he’s always had.

Lets face it my peoples…
This Conyers scandal is going to be “Sandy Bergered” (a.k.a. minimized to the max by the media—say that 3x fast) and blow away before mid-January…unless the repubs grow a pair and make a big stink over this…(not holding my breath).
Evidence of a quick blow over is the following statement from the democrats…
“We have concluded that this matter should be resolved through the issuance of this public statement.”
Huh?!!?
Since when has abusing your staff “resolved” by a mere public statement?
There is a whole lot of hypocrisy as well as irony to be found when we just take a casual look into Congressman Conyers political positions and what he is accused of.
Conyers is strongly against school choice (a.k.a. vouchers) and endorses Slave Reparations.
Yet…
He he’s accused of using his staff as UNPAID SERVANTS to babysit and TUTOR his children.
Conyers owes every parent with school aged children an apology and slave reparations to his staff.

This is a tough page and it probably portends a tough couple of years, first Ted Kennedy, a few items down here’s John Conyers, can Charlie Rangel, Harry Reid and Alcee Hastings be far behind???
My fervent, albeit feint hope is that the now over 20% of the Dems who are “Blue Dogs” (like Heath Schuler) will rein in some of that Parties baser impulses.
