Yesterday on the Neal Boortz show a caller named Keith raised a very interesting point. While chatting with Neal about the foolishness of Congressman Charles Rangel’s latest efforts to bring about a military draft, he mentioned that Liberals against school choice should be forced to send own children to public schools. It’s interesting how the Liberal elite claim to care about poor people and they want everything “fair”, but their form or fairness ensures that every poor kid would be forced into the military and keeps poor kids from having a better opportunity at choosing a school to attend. If you think all rich kids and sons of politicians would really be caught up in a military draft you’re fooling yourself.
Keep in mind that Rangel has already “cut and run” when faced with the prospect of actually voting for a military draft once before.
House overwhelmingly stomps out bill that would’ve reinstated draft (emphasis added)

When it comes to the draft, the bottom line is this. Even during America’s founding people were not forced to take up arms during the Revolutionary War. If this nation ever needed ready military man power it was then. But the pacifist Quakers were allowed to openly refuse military service, along with anyone else not willing to fight. And after the victory they all were able to enjoy the same benefits as others living under the US Constitution. Sure they faced some obvious scorn for not wanting to fight and people who fought got some special benefits, but nobody was forced to fight and were fully protected under the law.
So it’s not far fetched to say, that military drafts are simply unAmerican.

Good point, and agreed 100%
Funny how the dhimmicrats want to reinstate the draft, Republicans have protected kids from it.
Dollars to donuts they just frapped off most of the college age kids, hope it comes back and hits them dead square in the face
