Election Night 2006. Weak Republicans Lose Their Grip, But Marriage Defense Makes Gains!

by @ 2:58 am. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

I usually don’t stay up to get all the election results, but I had some other affairs to take care of tonight, so now is as good a time as any to do the round-up of tonight’s election events.

In short, Republicans because of their weak hand and inability to sell themselves have taken a beating. The Democrats now have the US House of Representatives and I’m sure Communists and Terrorists are pleased. Control of the US Senate could also change hands and that’s still too close to call, with 2 races still without a declared winner. But it looks to me like Democrats will assume control of the US Senate also. There goes the neighborhood!

On issues such as marriage, values won the night. There are some other values related votes that don’t appear to have gone very well.

So here’s the rundown:

You can see the results of various important ballot initiatives here.

Here in TN marriage was clearly and appropriately defined as the union of one man and one woman. In fact, here in TN, every single county voted in favor of the State Constitutional Amendment. So isn’t it ironic that the largest newspaper in this state the Tennessean tried to encourage voters not to clearly define marriage as a union of one man and one woman? Some people still actually pay money for that paper although it’s worthless and morally bankrupt. They attempted to play it as if it’s like an issue of race, but in all counties with majorities of various races people showed the Tennessean that this is not the same kind of issue. Because the good people of TN realize the words of the Lord are good and worth having as a standard for social order.

Mark 10:6-9 (New King James Version)

6) But from the beginning of the creation, God ?made them male and female.?

7) ?For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,

8) and the two shall become one flesh?; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.

9) Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.?

Almost every state with a measure to define marriage voted for it, but it appears things are still up in the air in Arizona. Issues like Stem Cell Research and Parental Notification of a grandchild about to be murdered in the womb are up in the air in states where those issues were on the ballot.

Ohio voters just said “no” to slot machines.

In Michigan the hard fought for Civil Rights Initiative, to stop entitlements simply because of skin tone or gender was passed. This is a good thing.

In South Dakota the proposed abortion ban was unfortunately voted down. Lord have mercy.

Several states voted to raise their minimum wage. And some small companies will probably end up laying off some workers as a result, if they wish to follow the law. It will probably make some companies consider cheap illegal labor.

Well that’s the deal. Not exactly a Conservative’s delight, but in times like these just pray, keep reading the word and don’t give up.

Eric mentions:

On a positive note, Mike DeWine (R-OH) and Lincoln Chafee (R-RI), RINO members of the gang of 14 were defeated. I hope that this will be a lesson learned prior to 2008.

Indeed!

update 11/8/2006 10:15AM:
I forgot to mention that Joe Lieberman won in US Senate race in Connecticut as an Independent. And hopefully he will not let the Democrats influence his votes since that party turned its back on him.

Arizona passed initiatives to deny various social benefits to illegals, along with establishing English as the state language. They failed on the issue of marriage. And a good Conservative who stood against illegal immigration, JD Hayworth was defeated.

In North Carolina a good Conservative named Vernon Robinson loss, although it was not unexpected considering the district he ran in.

This year’s election was certainly a nail biter. I was sorry to hear about Rick Santorum. He is a good man, and I am sure he will be back. Although I hoped for a win, the Lynn Swann and Ken Blackwell results were not a surprise. Steele ran a very good race in a blue state. He got 14% of the Democrat vote, and 27% of the Black vote. In a state that is 2:1 Democrats, he should be very proud of his performance. Virginia and Montana are still in play, so lets hope for the best.

With the Democrats Winning Control of Congress, Just Look Who’s Happy! (Audio)

Well I already told you that Communist and terrorists would be happy. Gateway Pundit found that Al Qaeda in Iraq is celebrating and claiming victory. Hot Air found that Iran is also claiming victory and Syria is relieved. And did you know the firs…
