Harold Ford Jr., The Confederacy and Jesus

by @ 9:04 pm. Filed under Nuts on Parade

In his last ditch effort for votes, it appears Harold Ford Jr. lost his mind!!!

You know I’m a Conservative who knows the Confederacy’s #1 reason for being was the issue of slavery and their firm belief that Blacks were inferior to Whites. I don’t really care what other list of reasons anyone wants to drag out, at the very TOP OF THE LIST of issues for states joining the Confederacy, in their letters of Secession was their desire to preserve slavery and their open belief that Blacks were inferior. This is why I’ve told you I am no fan of the Confederacy or those who adore the Confederacy today.

I always thought this was one of few issues that me and Black Liberals agreed on, although to varying degrees. I don’t like the Confederate mess, but I think the effort in states like South Carolina should have ended after getting that Dixie rag moved once. But Liberals still keep pressing that issue. I think they should have let that one go years ago. It came off the top of the capitol, move on. So I figured Black Democrats were probably even more against things associated with the Confederacy than I am.

But then comes politics. And for some principle flies right out the window! Harold Ford Jr. has apparently done something that would get a Republican candidate politically lynched. (Pun fully intended.) This nut fool Ford is so desperate to win an election, that he announced he was going to hang out at a pro-Confederate bar. I’m not one who listens to much of Rush, but I’m glad I caught a moment of his show today.

Nervous Dems Hedge Their Bets, Ford Embraces Confederacy, Jesus (free audio also available)

FORD: I will travel to Jackson tomorrow. One of the great stories in our campaign is our stop at the Little Rebel Bar and Grill, a little place with a lot of Confederate flags every which way. I’m one of their favorites. They have my paraphernalia, campaign materials up everywhere. We’ll go there tomorrow for lunch where we really kicked off this campaign, energized this campaign. We’ve had a great campaign manager, and one of the unseen campaign managers has been my Lord and savior. I’ve got great confidence people in my district and our state want change, and it’s all in His hands now.

RUSH: Holy cow! Ladies and gentlemen, he’s going to go to a roadside bar, the Little Rebel Bar and Grill, and a bunch of Confederate flags are going to be all over. It’s a good thing George Allen doesn’t show up there. And then he’s going to thank his number one campaign manager, his Lord and savior. I thought that separation of church and state, I thought we’re supposed to keep all this stuff out of politics. Yet here we are, Harold Ford: the Confederacy and Jesus. But confirming Chris Matthews’ vision of who goes to these things, these roadside bars. Chris Matthews wants to know what they’re going to be doing, Harold Ford’s going to be in there with him drinking beer, eating barbecue amongst the Confederate flags and praying to Jesus.

The Ford quote was a from a clip of him responding to Larry King about his plans for the end of the campaign.

This just shows politicians will forsake all that they claim to be and even walk into the den of those who revel in memorabilia of the people that kept some of their ancestors in chains. Kept them in chains and fought till their deaths in an attempt to continue doing it.

Ford is losing, thank God. Ford mentioned that a greater power(s) was involved in this race. I again wonder if he will say that God did not want him to have the job he sought when he gives his concession speech tonight? We shall soon see.

Once again the Democrats have shown that they are their old selves.

This all made me think about how some Blacks did fight for the Confederacy. Just sad. Some folks never learn.
