This Tennessee US Senate race is so funny. Watching D-Liberal named Ford trying to make himself appear so Conservative, while R-Liberal named Corker tries to make it appear he’s more Conservative than he actually is. Corker will prove to be more Liberal than his claims, assuming he wins the election, although he’s still better than Ford. You know I don’t really care for either man and prefer Emory ?Bo? Heyward. So this race is like pure comedy for me. Tragic comedy, but comedy none the less.
Check out the RNC ad below against Ford.
I think it’s awesome! Great ad! Because voting for Ford is a vote for exactly what those actors mentioned. And since he attended a Playboy party it’s fair game. It was a major event sponsored by smut and he attended it. So the actor playing the role of a Playboy model is especially funny and relevant.
But let the Liberals tell it and they’ll say the ad is racist. Ironically one of the people making such claims is William Cohen, former Clinton cabinet member, who is also a former Republican U.S. Senator. He feels showing a White Playboy bunny that wants to get with Ford is somehow playing on race. I don’t see why a White woman would be excluded from the role and hearing it from Cohen is doubly insane.
The picture above is of William Cohen and his wife Janet Langhart. (Women not taking their husband’s surname is just silly.)
Isn’t it odd that a White man who loves a Black woman would balk when seeing an ad with a White woman wanting a Black man? I think this exposes a racial double-standard within Cohen, rather than the ad somehow playing on mix raced relationships. I saw the ad and as a Black man who is married to a Black woman I saw nothing racist about it. Nobody said a word along those lines till people like Cohen said something. Either Cohen has some issues with White women dating outside of their race or it’s just a cheap political shot. Either way, it’s especially silly coming from him.
Ford and the Lord
Ford is running an ad that shows him in the church he grew up in. I have no problem with a candidate walking the pews in an ad. I really take issue when they step into the pulpit. Fellow TN blogger Bethany of the Realverse has a video up on HotAir today where she questions what would happen if a Conservative ran an ad from a church. She does a good job tearing into this one. Because if Bush had such an ad, the people who claim separation between church and state would have a fit. But not with Ford, because he’s Black and a Democrat. It’s the simple truth. This man is used by Liberals as a human shield. He can do whatever he wants and any attacks on him are called racist because he’s Black and runs with a political party favored by Liberals. But if a Conservative is found at a Playboy party and never runs any ads from a church, they would be attacked with vigor during a campaign.
Below I have audio clips of Ford’s 10/15/2006 conversation on ABC’s This Week. The commentator (Liberal former Clinton White House worker George Stephanopoulos) mentioned Ford is giving out cards with his name on the front and the 10 commandments on the back. What if a Conservative did that? What would be said about him? I think it’s good that Ford is doing it. And I think all candidates should. But we know if a Conservative does it they are attacked for actually endorsing something rooted in faith. Oh my, to think someone would actually want to have a society that pleases God.
When Ford was asked about his Playboy partying, Ford said:
I’ve never been to a Playboy mansion party.
Which the Liberal commentator accepted with no response. Ford mentioned “mansion” because he knows he’s attended a Playboy party, just never one at the Playboy mansion. What politician trying to pose as a Conservative would dare be seen at the Playboy mansion? Well you would think one posing as a Conservative would never attend a Playboy party either, but Ford used some fancy words to try and fool everyone. Speaking of “fancy” the Fancy Ford site that is run by the GOP used to have a picture of Ford with some White woman, that has been removed. Removed because of cries of “racism”. Amazing, so now showing an interracial pic is racist. Does this mean Democrats want racists to vote for Ford? I mean if a voter can’t stand to see a mixed couple, is that a voter you really want endorsing you? It seems the Democrats don’t want to disturb any Dixiecrats that might consider voting for Ford.
Ford says people should not “judge”, in reference to criticism of him, but calls out Republicans for the Foley issue. OK, so the guy posing as a Conservative can cast judgement in defense, but cries “don’t judge” when others speak of his actions, interesting. If he’s a true Christian, he should have no problem with others in the faith calling him to correction. Nobody is trying to condemn him to hell, death or prison. Ford should have admitted that hanging with the bunnies was wrong and been done with it. He could have even worked it into his church image, but saying he confessed the sin to the Lord.
Ford and the 6th Commandment
Ford simply can’t get that “Thou Shalt Not Murder” commandment right. When speaking about abortion, he never says when life begins and says it’s an “irrelevant” issue that can be debated. He does not wish to say when life begins, so people can kill babies and claim they are not committing the intentional murder of an innocent life. Life begins once the sperm fully enters the egg, bottom line.
When asked when life begins, Harold Ford Jr. actually said:
The issue is irrelevant.
Lord help him!
Ford says he wants to lower the number of abortions, but fails to admit that BANNING ABORTION IS THE BEST WAY AND IT WORKED in states that banned abortion before Roe v. Wade. Ford claims to be “Pro-Life”, but he will NEVER support a Federal ban to outlaw the intentional targeted murder of children in the womb, except when the life of the mother is at risk. Simply wanting to “lower” the number of abortions does not mean someone is “Pro-Life”. The desire to stop the intentional targeted murder of innocent lives is what makes one Pro-Life and Ford does not truly represent Pro-Life values.
He claims he became Pro-Life after speaking with a Memphis doctor years ago, but just last year voted for people in the military to be able to kill their babies in the womb. Talk about death by friendly fire!
It’s good he now votes against partial birth abortion, but Ford still has a ways to go. He’s not for going back to states deciding the issue and he’s not against all abortion except when it might result in a death (of the mother).
Ford thinks a “bigger power” is involved in the race. Does that mean if he loses he will concede that he was NOT who God wanted to have the job?

update 10/24/2006 6:09PM: Harold Ford Jr. finally admits he was at the Playboy party. Now see, that was not very hard Harold. He said:
I like football and I like girls.
Well every man should
. But we do need to try and continually fight our fleshly desires for smut. And when you’re a public figure you’ve really got to be careful of the example you set by your public actions. You showed young children a bad thing by being seen in public at a Playboy party, but you’ve shown kids a sort of good thing in admitting it and you would do well to condemn your actions instead of playing the macho role. Yes men like girls (women that is), but still going to Playboy parties is wrong.
