First let me say that as an Independent Conservative, when it comes to an election I really don’t look at Democrat versus Republican. I look at the entire slate of candidates and their positions on the issues. I don’t vote based on who might win or who might lose. My vote is my personal endorsement of the candidate that best supports my own views and I refuse to vote for anyone else. So the bottom line is that I’m voting for Emory ‘Bo’ Heyward in Tennessee’s US Senate race.

Here are the available candidates in Tennessee’s race for US Senate and a short summary of my views of each. I will give an extended write-up of my top 2 picks after this section and why “Bo” is getting my vote. Candidates below are listed in the order they appear on my sample ballot.

• Harold Ford, Jr. - Democrat - Typical double talking Democrat, that talks like he has some Conservative views, but his voting record shows he’s a Liberal. I have no need to waste any more words on this man. I might vote for a wet poodle if it was the only thing running against him.
• Bob Corker - Republican - After the Primaries where I voted for one of his opponents, I thought I might be voting for Mr. Corker simply because I didn’t think anyone else but Ford and Corker would seriously be running. Since then I’ve learned about the field of Independent candidates and so I won’t be voting for him. Overall Bo is more in line with my views than Corker. I don’t feel Corker is true to his Pro-Life stance and his views on International issues are a mirror image of the views of President George W. Bush. He claims he wants to tighten the border, but I don’t believe him. I think he will win, but he is sure to disappoint. I prefer him over Ford, but given there are better options available I can’t vote for him.
• Ed Choate- Independent - The only real Pro-Life candidate in this race. But this race is about more than abortion, so while I like him better than Corker I can’t vote for him. He was a very close 2nd for me and I’ll explain in more detail later in this post.
• David Gatchell - Independent - This guy is basically a joke. He’s running as the “None Of The Above” candidate.
• Emory “Bo” Heyward - Independent - This guy is the best of the pack. Best summarized as a State’s Rights Constitutionalist. He’s not exactly what I want on some domestic issues, but close enough for now. And on international issues he’s the only candidate that has his head on straight. I’ll offer more details later in this post.
• Gary Keplinger - Independent - This guy does not seem to be serious about running and refused to answer the 2006 National Political Awareness Test. Any man afraid to answer questions is not ready for my vote.
• Christopher Lugo - Green Party running as Independent - Really nothing more needs to be said about him. A far Left Green Party nut case, that probably has been officially endorsed by every enemy of America. If the only thing running against him was a wet poodle, I really would vote for the poodle!

So for me this race came down to Ed Choate and Emory “Bo” Heyward and I really had to think and pray before making a decision.

Basically Ed Choate is on point with things like wanting to ban abortion except in cases of the life of the mother being at risk. But he’s totally off point on issues like his endorsement of a Palestinian state, opening trade with Cuba and opposition to military force against North Korea’s nuclear efforts. He also wants to offer amnesty to illegals here over 2 years, although he claims he wants to close the border with military force. Basically every illegal would show up with fake papers making it appear they’ve been here over 2 years, just as they would with any amnesty plan. This is how illegals get jobs now, fake papers. You can see his views on the issues here. I appreciate that he’s a pro-life Christian, but he wants to reward illegals who broke the law in their illegal entry and probably are identity thieves. He also plays into the hands of our enemies by going soft on North Korea and looking to reward the Islamic nuts next to Israel with statehood. My word, they voted for Hamas. What more do they need to do in order to show people they hate America and want to destroy Israel? So sorry Ed, you can’t have my vote.

Emory “Bo” Heyward is simply the best man available for the job and I think he’d do well. He’s for states deciding issues like abortion and sin endorsing gays that want to act like a married man and women. While I’m for federal bans and feel it’s Constitutional for Congress to create such bans, Bo does not feel the Constitution allows Congress to decide the abortion issue. So he’d be for how things were before Roe v. Wade, where states were able to decide the issue. For a pro-life Conservative like me that’s the short term goal, with the long term goal of a total ban on abortions except when the life of the mother is at risk. So I can live with Bo’s position. On international issues, Bo’s views are a thing of beauty! When it comes to war, he’s for the US military unleashing the full might and fury of our arsenal. Now that’s how you save troops lives and keep them out of harms way. He realizes that there should be no reward of a Palestinian state and Cuba should not be rewarded for their violent Communist revolution by giving them trade status with the USA. See his views on the issues on his site. With illegal immigration he’s all about defending our borders and tossing out illegals already here. You can see some of his other views on the issues here. He’s all about cutting off the foreign aid handouts from the government and ending domestic hand outs too. I say let private individuals and organizations play the role of charities. I don’t mind government helping people who have encountered a tragedy that makes them unable to work, but even if government didn’t do it I think people would have more of their own money to give to charities that could help. (For the record I don’t consider someone having a drug addiction to be a “tragedy” worthy of a government check.) Bo also wants to end Social Security. I’ve said, Social Security is a scam that I also want to see ended. You can hear Bo in an interview here. Just click on his name to get the audio started. So Bo will be getting my vote next month for US Senate. I’m so glad I am not locked into picking between just the Democrat and Republican candidates. If we want America to rid some of its ills and enemies we need more people like Emory “Bo” Heyward in all our branches of government.

Now on to another matter. It seems Liberal Harold Ford Jr. tried to crash a Bob Corker presser. Video reports are available here and here. A text report with the video links is available here. Simply a ridiculous act on Ford’s part. Ford acts like Corker is running from him and it’s true Corker does turn down some opportunities to debate Ford, but Corker has shown up to every scheduled in state TV debate. So it’s not true that Corker is completely avoiding him, but simply not agreeing to every moment Ford wants to debate him. Personally, I think Corker would have been within his rights to punch Ford in the jaw for trying to crash his presser. In fact I’d like that to be a law . If some jack-leg wants to try and crash a candidate’s presser, that candidate should have the legal right to punch the crasher in his jaw and remove him with all necessary force.

Republican Nashville talker Phil Valentine spoke about Ford’s crashing Corker’s presser the day it happened (last Friday) and also about Ford hanging out with a man who is very much disliked in Tennessee. The Liberal nut that tried to bring an income tax to this state, Bob Rochelle.
