The leader is no longer crazy Mao Zedong but the quite modern Hu Jintao. China is now closer than ever to the west and relies almost exclusively on our economies. They are no longer a communist country, and nobody believes in this crap anymore in China. They have themselves condemned the nuclear test and they know that they have nothing to win supporting a dead country like north Korea. They would not be happy about it, but I am sure they know where there interest lies. I do not believe they would, it is not the same China anymore. As for the infantery, a collective action with the other surrounding country, China included, would stop them quickly. North Korea is the worse dictatorship (probably with myanmar and equatorial guinea) and I only dream of seeing it free before I die.
