[Note, my thoughts on the issue of tithing were incorrect, please read Reconsidering the Tithe. The post below is kept for archival reference purposes only.]
Everyone wants to know how to fix America’s problems. Although it won’t rid the nation of all poverty, paying the tithe is something Christians should do. It may not be the weightiest of all concerns for Christians, but it certainly is part of a set of actions, that can literally save a nation from its enemies. Here is a verse that is often read in churches everywhere. Please read these words, although you’ve read them before if you are a Christian. But this time think of and see how it affects a nation. Don’t just focus on yourself individually.
Malachi 3:8-12 (New King James Version)
|
Look at America attempting to fight enemies, that are attacking us from overseas and within. Notice the Lord instructed, that paying the tithe will cause God to “rebuke the devourer for your sakes” and “all nations will call you blessed”. Because America’s future depends on the members of the church remaining faithful. Please read all of Malachi 3 when you have the opportunity. It details a plan for saving a nation and paying the tithe is an important part, that I think many in today’s church ignore.
When we put our money where our mouth is, we ensure that the Lord will continue to cover us. We show that we will give of our earthly treasure unto God. And in response, God rewards more. This is an eternal truth from God himself. And when the church is better funded, the ministry is better spread. This helps to combat an enemy that tries to attack using a form of faith. But even without such an enemy, God’s will is done and protects a nation from any sort of enemy. All evil is of the Devil.
Part of saving our nation comes through giving a portion unto God of what was already his to begin with.
Whether or not we are in a “holy war”, the solution is living holy.

IC, I was just looking at a BET program today and they were talking about how churches are talking that talk but are not walking that walk. Billions of dollars are being generated in churches, including black churches, but many preachers are not using that money to rebuild communities for the poor. As it stands, the American government is left to do the job because we depend on it. They spoke of a certain church which is right now giving homeowner loans to blacks because they use the contributions to help people. Unfortunately not mentioned, is that tithing is not under the law so there’s no obligation. To add, they did a short interview with Oprah about her failed school in South Africa and she states that it doesn’t matter how much money you have, it means nothing if you don’t give. No mention of Christ.
