Colin Powell is Not Equipped to Fight the War on Terror. Against Bush’s Harsh Interrogation Proposal.

Well now I’m glad Colin Powell never ran for President. Because we need someone with the determination to fight this enemy and know we have to fight ugly!

Powell blasts Bush?s plan for interrogations

Letter comes as president visits Capitol Hill to seek anti-terror support

WASHINGTON - Former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed efforts to block President Bush?s plan to authorize harsh interrogations of terror suspects, even as Bush lobbied personally for it Thursday on Capitol Hill.

The latest sign of GOP division over White House security policy came Thursday in a letter that Powell sent to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., one of three rebellious senators taking on the White House. Powell said Congress must not pass Bush?s proposal to redefine U.S. compliance with the Geneva Conventions, a treaty that sets international standards for the treatment of prisoners of war.

At nearly the same time Bush met with House Republicans, Sen. John Warner, R-Va., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on Thursday was asking his panel to finish an alternative to the White House plan to prosecute terror suspects and redefine acts that constitute war crimes.

The White House on Thursday said the alternate approach was unacceptable because it would force the CIA to end a program of using forceful interrogation methods with suspected terrorists.

?The president will not accept something that shuts the program down,? presidential spokesman Tony Snow said.

McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina have joined Warner in opposing Bush?s bill.

I refuse to allow a pack of Liberal Republicans to cost America and our allies lives because they want to fight a “nice war”.

Have a look at part of Liberal Republican Colin Powell’s letter to his fellow Liberal Republican John McCain.

Excerpt from Colin Powell’s letter to John McCain

Dear Senator McCain:

I just returned to town and learned about the debate taking place in Congress to redefine Common Article 3 of the Geneva Convention. I do not support such a step and believe it would be inconsistent with the McCain amendment on torture with I supported last year.

The Liberal Republicans feel that having tough interrogations would put troops at risk. They fail to understand, that not getting information about upcoming attacks puts more troops at a higher level of risk, than even those who might be captured by the enemy!

Mohammed never signed the Geneva Convention rules and neither did modern day followers of radical Islam. Mohammed broke those rules and today Osama bin Laden and others break those rules with regularity. Because for them, the rules were made by infidels and they have no need to follow the rules of infidels. So this enemy should not be treated as if they ever agreed to the Geneva Convention. They are terrorists, killing in the name of Allah. They should not be treated like prisoners of war and deserve no special treatment.

Americans will need to realize, that fighting an unconventional enemy who has no rules other than cutting off your head requires unconventional war tactics. If a terrorist knows something, our troops should be allowed to do whatever they feel is necessary to extract that information.

update 9/14/2006 4:37PM:
Bush loses and the Liberals have their way.

Senate Panel, Rebuffing Bush, Approves Terror Tribunal Measure

Sept. 14 (Bloomberg) — A Senate committee, in a bipartisan rebuff to President George W. Bush, approved military tribunal legislation that would give more legal protection to suspected terrorists than the administration wants.

These Liberals will watch us die with the rule book in our hands!

    Torture time

How low have we fallen as a country when we’re debating in Washington over how far to let our military and CIA go before we have to call it torture?
