Former Cynthia McKinney Staffer Michael Burwick Fired. Possibly Because He Revealed He is Jewish. (Video Link)

by @ 10:56 pm. Filed under Nuts on Parade

McKinney may be leaving Congress again, but this time she’s leaving a trail of stink that’s starting to smell worse than her last departure. Former McKinney staffer Michael Burwick has decided to come forward after seeing McKinney’s security members from the New Black Panther Party acting up and a recent appearance on Hannity and Colmes by former McKinney PR man Coz Carson.

You can see the video of his FoxNews interview with Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes here.

This was a riveting interview and McKinney’s office has responded to FoxNews inquiries with a “no comment”.

He says that around the office he heard McKinney and people around her vilifying Israel as an enemy nation, that was “hell bent on destroying other people” and people she surrounded herself with were of the same mindset. He personally feels she surrounds herself with people like members of the New Black Panther Party, because they say what she and her supporters truly feel.

He says he worked in this environment, never reveling that he himself was Jewish and she was trilled with his work. During the time of some Jewish High Holy days he reveled that he was Jewish, because he wanted a day (Rush Hashanah or Yom Kippur) off. He came back the next day to find out his position was “defunded”. He was the only Jewish person he knows of that was working for her.

He’s not planning to take her to court, because he feels he does not have enough details to make a case. He can’t say he “knows” he was fired because he is Jewish. All he knows is that his position was “defunded” after requesting time off for a Jewish holiday and “immediately upon being told” that his position was defunded, he received a call from an AJC reporter who mentioned it. Below are the details of that call and some other things Mr. Burwick mentioned, from a partial FoxNews transcript. (Those folks at FoxNews really need to make full transcripts of every show.)

McKinney Staffer Claims He Was Fired for Being Jewish Partial transcript from “Hannity & Colmes,” August 17, 2006.

HANNITY: But Michael, we don’t have a lot of time. We’ve got to get to the bottom line here.

BURWICK: You got it, Sean. Bottom line is I did great work for her. She was thrilled. Drove her back and forth to the office. We had a wonderful relationship.

Came the Jewish holidays, the High Holidays, I revealed that I needed to take a day off to celebrate Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. The next day I came back and I was told that my position was defunded.

HANNITY: Did you hear anti-Semitic remarks in her office from her or anyone around her?

BURWICK: Sean, I heard the people around her and I heard Ms. McKinney vilify Israel, vilify Israel as an enemy nation, as a nation that was hell-bent on destroying other people. That kind of thing. The people that she surrounded herself with were of the same mindset.

COLMES: Do you think the minute she found out you were Jewish, she then decided you weren’t going to work there anymore?

BURWICK: Alan, I can’t make that leap. All I know is that, immediately upon being told that my position was defunded, I received a call from a reporter from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, asking me how I reacted to being fired or terminated or defunded because of the fact that I was Jewish. He had obviously received word from somebody in the office that was privy to those conversations, which I was not.

He wants her to resign now!

And here are some other race related quick-hits from news I read today.

And hey, despite all the nuts mentioned above, America is still the greatest nation on earth!

    A small quibble:

“I revealed that I needed to take a day off to celebrate Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur.”

Which is it? Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur? One is at the beginning of the “high holy days” and the other at the end. 10 days apart. Not doubting the gist of his account, BUT we can’t trumpet this as a true account if the guy can’t get his facts straight. He says he asked off for one day in the Jewish High Holy Days, but can’t narrow it down to a window smaller than 10 days. If he’d said EITHER Rosh Hashanah OR Yom Kippur, then I’d be all over this like flies on rice.

That matter of which holiday does not change that he was fired after mentioning he wanted to celebrate something related to the Jewish faith. Plus the call he received after being fired, that pretty much confirmed everything.

He was rushed to tell the story and did not recall exactly which one. Bottom line is that after he mentioned he was Jewish he was out of a job.
