The matter of Georgia’s Voter ID law seems to go back and forth. Most recently another Liberal judge blocked the law, with Georgia’s former Democratic Governor Roy Barnes acting as attorney for the crying Liberals. And since then the state’s Democratic Attorney General Thurbert E. Baker has filed an appeal of that ruling on behalf of the state and current Republican Governor Sonny Purdue.
Yes it’s one twisted mess, because Liberals who have no problem making social programs that often require photo ID to receive benefits, are upset people will need to show ID when they vote. Which means it would be harder for Liberals to cheat! Governor Purdue said it best when he said.
We can’t for the life of us understand why the Democrats have been so hellbent on making it easier for dead people, felons and illegal immigrants to cast ballots in their primary.
Of course he’s being facetious. We all know why they are doing it. They know dead people, felons and illegal aliens overwhelmingly vote Democrat.
The people Liberals claim are discriminated against never have a problem using ID to cash their tax refund check. And even if they had it direct deposited, they needed ID to open the bank account it was deposited into. And they claim a photo ID law will hurt elderly people who can’t get out. But anyone in that situation would vote via absentee ballot and the photo ID law has no impact on absentee voting. So Liberals are playing lots of silly games, but in the end this law will go forward.
I’m tired of harping on this mess, but something more needs to be said. BJ Ellis spoke about this before the latest events I mentioned above. Even still his words ring true. Because truth remains the same no matter the twists and turns of Liberal spin.

The key point to notice is that despite the fact that the opponents of the law are arguing that there are hundreds of thousands of people in GA who lack photo id - they have not mounted an organized effort to ACTUALLY GET PEOPLE ID’s in the 2 years that they have been fighting this legislation.
Think about it if the “evil Republicans” are seeking to steal the vote way from the poor people (and it is a shame how quickly they accept this label for Blacks - or lump us into the pot with the poor) then isn’t it more logical to take the POWER away from the “racist Republicans” by setting up a massive campaign to get people their photo ids and thus take way this issue from the GOP?
One must ask fundamentally - is it oppressive for people to have a photo id - absent any question of voting?
I have to give it to the opponents though. That was a masterful stroke to claim that the requirement for a photo id was like a POLL TAX. I would not have thought of that one. AND IT WORKED!!!
