Congressman Tom Tancredo was on the Jim Bohannon Show recently discussing his new book In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America’s Border and Security. During the discussion he made some very interesting statements. He mentioned that he felt President George W. Bush is:
violating his oath of office
Because of his lax work on defending America’s borders and enforcement of current immigration laws. I agree with him. America’s security is at risk and we know terrorists are crossing the Southern border. Presidents have been failing in this regard for far too long. The latest media leak about the Holland Tunnel bombing plot shows President Bush is doing well in one area of the fight against terrorism (despite media interference), but still leaving the back door wide open.
Congressman Tancredo also said:
…
Bill Clinton did a better job in terms of actual numbers of people that he put into the border patrol and going after work site enforcement. He had more work site enforcement. More than this President has had since he’s been in office. This is not something I like to tell people, but it is the truth.
…
Now that’s just sad that after 9/11 the current President is not doing as well as the former one. While Bush’s Administration has been speaking of adding more people to the border patrol, they obviously are not doing as much as former President Bill Clinton did.
Joseph Farah mentions the following in a recent World Net Daily column.
Bush deceives on border

Even more recently La Shawn Barber exposed how Bush’s claimed “compromise” for a plan put forth by Congressman Mike Pence really is another amnesty plan.

This is why there should be an “enforcement only” bill to start with. It should not be comprehensive because we just can’t trust this government to do the enforcement part. We trusted them in 1986 and here we are with a mess 20 years later.
I would take it even further. I would revoke citizenship of children born here to illegal immigrants. Anchor babies/schmanchor babies. Illegal is illegal. Also, I would put a 50% surcharge on any wires of money to other countries by non-US citizens. That would put a chill on it and it would raise some money for our overburdened schools and hospitals.
I’m worried, though, that we’re just getting lip service from many pols because of this being an election year. I’m concerned that they will talk tough until the election and then they will all favor amnesty after the election (with the exception of Tancredo and a handful of others).

Hey I think I fixed the problem you were having with the comments area
.
No those anchor babies should not be granted citizenship. Check out this GTB post where that was addressed in some detail.
I like that 50% surcharge idea. Although a fee too high might prompt them to find other methods to transfer their money. And they will have tons of fake IDs to make it look like they are legal when they visit a Western Union to wire funds.
We’ve got to lock down the southern border. That will require full militarization of the southern border and starting work on a massive wall.
