Witch Wants Wiccan Symbol on Husband’s Military Memorial Plaque

And the latest nuts to come out of the woodwork, to try and score a victory in the courts, the witches!

Soldier’s Widow Takes Fight For Wiccan Symbol To Washington

WASHINGTON — The widow of a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan is appealing the government’s refusal to put a Wiccan symbol on his memorial plaque.

Roberta Stewart is to meet Wednesday with an undersecretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and is threatening to sue unless her demand is met.

Her husband, Nevada Army National Guard Sergeant Patrick Stewart, died September 25 when his Chinook helicopter was shot down. Four others also died.

The agency so far has refused to grant the family’s request to have the Wiccan pentacle, a five-pointed star surrounded by a circle, placed on Stewart’s government-issued plaque at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Wicca is not among the 38 belief systems, including atheism, recognized by the department.

Wiccans worship the Earth. Some consider themselves good witches, pagans or neo-pagans.

Yea I thank that soldier for his service, however this is just insane. If this was a nation that still had things like prayer in school, all “In God We Trust” challenges tossed out at every court level and 10 Commandments openly posted in any size at courts, do you think a witch would dare dream of bringing a case like this to court?

This nation has never been kind to witches and if this witch is successful, witchcraft will gain a foothold in this nation like never before! The government should not recognize this brand of evil.

Now this is strange to me because when I left the service in 2001, I could have sworn Wiccan was recognized as a religion in the Army. Why would that not apply to the entire DOD? Weird. I feel a service member’s tombstone should have on it whatever the surviving family and/or the service member wanted on it.
