Ann Coulter’s “Godless” Makes the Liberals’ Heads Spin With Obfuscation! (Audio)

by @ 7:04 pm. Filed under Audio, The Truth Shall Set you Free!

IngrahamCoulter Ann Coulter’s new book Godless: The Church of Liberalism is about how Liberalism has literally become a state enforced form of faith. Coulter says this herself in her own review of her book. (She did her own review because she knew Liberal leaning MSM outlets would probably never do an honest review of the book.)

So why did a book about Liberalism becoming a real Godless faith result in Liberals attacking her over some comments about 9/11 widows and criticism about their political activism? Because Liberals know they cannot touch the substance of her book, that is rooted in truth. The truth is that Liberalism has become a form of faith and it worships Darwinism over Creationism. Liberals don’t want to debate that on TV shows. It would actually get public support and make people think about what is happening in their communities, when a school prevents a child from wearing clothing that denounces immoral behavior. So instead the Liberals use the art of obfuscation. They hone their attack on making people feel Ann Coulter is heartless and evil, instead of the Liberalism she speaks of.

As Coulter says of her book, it is about Liberalism, not Liberals themselves.

This is not a book about liberals. I stress this in anticipation of Alan Colmes hectoring the author to name names. (For people who resented being asked to “name names” during the 1950s, these liberals sure aren’t shy about demanding that conservatives do the same today.)

It is a book about liberalism, our official state religion. Liberalism is a doctrine with a specific set of tenets that can be discussed, just like other religions.

The Christian religion, for example, frowns on lying and premarital sex. That is simply a fact about Christianity. This does not mean no Christian has ever lied or had premarital sex. Indeed, some Christians have committed murder, adultery, thievery, gluttony. That does not mean there’s no such thing as Christianity any more than a videotape of Rep. William Jefferson accepting cash bribes means there’s no such thing as congressional ethics rules.

Similarly, the liberal religion supports abortion, but that doesn’t mean every single liberal has had an abortion. We can rejoice that liberals do not always practice their religion.

While the effort was made to call attention to Liberalism, Liberals are attacking Ann Coulter for her comments about some political posturing widows. Those comments, love or hate them are not at all what the crux of the book is about. Although her criticism of the 9/11 widows is on point, her afterthoughts regarding the widows is not anything I can agree with. Coulter says the 9/11 widows are actually enjoying the celebrity status they’ve received, using it for politically partisan motives and Liberals feel the Kerry supporting and Bush bashing 9/11 widows should not be criticized, because their husbands died in the 9/11 attacks. I totally agree with that. Coulter did not say that the 9/11 widows enjoy that their husbands were killed in the 9/11 attacks, but the Liberal media spin cycle tries to imply that.

In her afterthoughts Coulter says some things I totally disagree with. Some say it was for marketing, but whatever her reason for saying it I don’t think it was good to say. I’ve seen Liberals who probably do the same and I have no problem saying it is bad when they do it too. In her thoughts and questions about the widows, she mentioned that their husbands may have been preparing to divorce them. Sorry Ann, can’t walk with you on that one. Even for the sake of marketing. To suggest the ending of a marriage by divorce is not something I like to hear/read from the mouth/pin of someone that stands to defend the Christian faith. Divorce is not of God and I don’t think it’s “cool” to suggest such things of dead men we know far less than their widows. Also she suggested that the widows consider posing for Playboy, to continue their dwindling celebrity status. Well their celebrity status is not dwindling any longer. Ann my dear you’ve put them back on the Liberal celebrity hot list! I can’t agree with suggesting the women do a spread in Playboy. (An adult men’s magazine that features nudity.) These afterthoughts were not needed and not good at all.

Just the same the controversial statements about these widows are a small part of the book and totally removing them from the book would not hurt the main thesis of the book at all. So Liberals have failed to speak a word about the main thesis of the book and have everyone running with their obfuscation of a smaller point in an effort to trash Ann. Of course it’s backfired, her book sales are hot and getting hotter. I’ll be getting a copy myself 😀 . Ann has mentioned that she feels there are other parts of the book that are much more controversial. Let’s see if Liberals ever care to debate those parts and maybe a real discussion will begin about the true thesis of this book.

Ann Coulter was on the Laura Ingraham Show last week and they discussed the book, related media attacks and more important issues like abortion. Coulter has been doing a lot of interviews, but Ingraham is a long time pal of hers, so it was interesting to hear their conversation.

update 6/12/2006 10:37PM:
Freedom Watch has audio and commentary of Michelle Malkin on The O’Reilly Factor and they are running with the media spin, but Malkin makes some great points just the same. Hot Air has the video. Expose the Left has a writeup from the NY Times Slimes, that does the usual and expected Liberal trashing of Coulter.

update 8/27/2006 10:37AM:
I finished this book a while back, but wanted to update this post to mention that I’ve found my commentary above was accurate. Ann’s own review of her book was accurate as well. The part about those 9/11 widows was not just a “small” part of the book, but minuscule when compared with the rest of the content of the book. For example, Ann spends chapters blowing away several myths of Darwinism, but this was never discussed in the press. Instead they spent all their time on a few sentences about windows, that made the choice to become political figures. I hope the bulk of Ann’s book might still be discussed in the media at some point. This was actually the first book of Ann’s that I’ve ever purchased and I highly recommend everyone buy it. It is the kind of book that can be used as reference material and not just something you want to rent from the library.

I really hate disclaimers but I feel the following one is necessary.

Disclaimer: I do not nor ever have totally agreed with everything Ann Coulter has said.

That being said, I really am enjoying the Liberal response to her book and her comments. The responses from the open minded and tolerant liberals has ranged from wishing she committed suicide to calling for a state ban of her book. Who says the left would never produce a dictatorship?

Coulter called the left on their pattern of using victims to immoculate their ideology from open debate.

Coulter called them on their worship of ideology and their dogged protection of it.

Like I pointed out in another thread. One only need to look at the black community to see what Coulter is talking about. Black Chrisitians have no problem listening to and praising “muslims” like Farrakhan. The fact that he doesn’t believe that Christ it the son of God is no biggie.

But let a black conservative try to speak and black people can’t even find it in themselves to allow the person to speak let alone be heard.

For all too many of us religion has taken a back seat to liberal dogma. Ann Coulter is merely pointing out the obvious.

I think I’ll pick up her book this weekend.

    Ann Coulter and Conservative Cat

I know, I know. People think she’s been too harsh. Meanwhile, she has been asked to commit suicide and called just about every name there is to call someone.
