This is a very interesting one, that I wish I caught when it first occurred.
First watch this video. Then read his statement here.
I think any teacher using vulgarities should be reprimanded. His suspension was enough. However, he has pointed out the elephant in the room, that many want to avoid. Although the elephant stinks and takes up space needlessly, nobody wants to throw the elephant out! That “elephant” is the fact that Black people run around using the word, but want to cry when somebody White says it. If it’s wrong for the “White man” then it’s wrong for the “Black man” and all this crap about it being harmless slang needs to stop! So long as Blacks are saying the word, it gives license to everyone including Robert “KKK” Byrd to say it. No matter the suffix used, the term is foul and displays total ignorance. I say not only should Paul Dawson, who is a teacher at Valley Traditional High School in Louisville, Kentucky have been suspended, but all who use the term. Students should also be suspended for vulgarities spewed from their mouth. Even if they are saying it in the halls between classes.
Like it or not, Paul Dawson has touched on something that should have been better addressed a long time ago. If the “elephant” is not thrown out now, it will continue stinking things up!
Hat tip to reader Leslie.
