Are “Chocolate Cities” Becoming “Gay Cities”?

by @ 3:55 pm. Filed under Evangelicals Under Attack, Nuts on Parade

I must say I’m seeing a trend in areas that are considered “chocolate cities”. It seems the gay rights movement has rolled in and set-up shop in several (actually all) of them.

Take DC for example:

Candidates Vow to Urge Ministers to Respect Gays

The five major candidates for D.C. mayor pledged last night to promote tolerance for gay men and lesbians in the city’s black churches and to combat attitudes that led two prominent local ministers to denounce homosexuality from their pulpits.

It seems that going to the ministers for support is turning into going to seek support from the gays.

Of course this battle rages across the nation, but it seems the so-called “chocolate cities” in particular have become especially contested territory. Gays are playing on the desire of Blacks to fight discrimination, by playing as if they are “just like Blacks”. However, when I read Mark chapter 10, I don’t see Jesus talking about God making people to all be of a certain race, but Jesus does say man should be with woman. When I read Romans chapter 1, I don’t see Paul saying a word about Black people. Paul speaks against man being with man, but says nothing about race. So in truth, there is no way a Bible following “Black church” could/should ever endorse the same candidate(s) and/or platform as gays. Because the two are nothing alike and not at all the same. The church wants to help all sinners turn from their sin, while today’s gay lobby wants their sin to be viewed as blessed by God himself. The pro-gay lobby is totally against church efforts to help gays turn from the sin of homosexual behavior.

I’ve mentioned how gay groups have tried to start efforts to water down pulpits here in Atlanta and other cities with a high Black population.

Now as some candidates go out to pander for votes from “minority groups”, they are putting gays high on their list. Given the differences of opinion, it would seem this would come to a head at some point. Instead is seems more pro-gay Mayors are being elected in many cities. Because although the church has more votes, many in the church are not holding candidates feet to the fire when it comes to standing against immoral behavior. (No pun intended.) And of course the church has some internal cleaning up to do.

First there was the liquor lobby, then the gambling/lottery lobby and now there is yet another political lobby totally constructed around the advocacy of sin, that may trump the influence of the church. The churches’ “tolerance” of sin has gone beyond mere tolerance into a form of passive endorsement. And the political posturing of candidates in some cities proves it. If the church was standing firm in these areas, then the gay lobby would not have a leg to stand on. And the lack of a firm stance against sinful activity only works against the church. Because once a minister decides to speak up, the same gay lobby nobody stood strong against steps up and tells ministers what they can and can’t say from their own pulpits.

I guess the goal is to make many of America’s major cities treat the church like we are treated when a stand is taken in San Francisco.

Soon the pro-dope (illegal drugs) lobby, the polygamist lobby, the pedophile lobby and others will all be running the political table too!

Bishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr. who I mentioned once before, caused a stir for trying to simply stand against sin. You can see my comments about his methods in that earlier post. He has offered a response to criticism of his Palm Sunday sermon.
