God is Sovereign!

by @ 10:02 pm. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

Often times when people face disaster, they ask God why he could allow such a thing to happen to them. This sometimes leads people to leave the faith or even hate God. What people must understand is that God is sovereign. God moves at a level above that of man. So God’s intentions are not the will of man. God does not do what we feel is best, he does what he knows is best. This is something we are not able to fully understand, because we ourselves are not God. We are creations of God, that disobeyed him and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. We separated ourselves from the Lord and are trying to be in his good graces again. Our own disobedience has caused us the issues of this world. Our best hope is to do his will and pray that he allows us to be with him in paradise. He has allowed the means for us to return to him through Christ’s death and resurrection.

As a father my own children sometimes fail to understand why I take something away from them that they enjoy. Because they are not on my level of thinking. We are not on God’s level, so we can never understand all of his actions. Some people feel they must create a prophesy for every event that occurs. But no man knows the total mind of God. Some prophesy is true and some is not. Sometimes we just don’t know why God allows something to occur at the time it happens. But God in his sovereignty must be respected, even if we find the event to be uncomfortable.

We must accept that God is not our personal servant. We do not decide what makes God good. God is good and does what he pleases. We are simply his creations and are given the free will to do as he says or face the further consequences of disobedience. With the ultimate consequence being eternal damnation.

We try to do what pleases the Lord, but God is the ultimate judge. There are some who feel they are saved and are probably respected as such, but God might feel otherwise. Because God knows the real truth.

Matthew 7:21-23 (New King James Version)

21) ?Not everyone who says to Me, ?Lord, Lord,? shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

22) Many will say to Me in that day, ?Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name??

23) And then I will declare to them, ?I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!?

As I like to say, just because you say the say it does not mean that you’re in. I know this causes some debate in the church, but just because someone makes the confession of faith it does not mean they will join the Lord in paradise. See the verses above, some who said they are for the Lord will actually be treated by God as workers of lawlessness. They may have done wonders here on earth and been respected as great men. But we each must strive to always do the will of the Lord in every aspect of our lives. If we are not truly on the Lord’s side God knows this. If we are not really trying to please God he knows this also. God knows we are not perfect, but he also knows who really is trying to do the right thing and who is not. At judgement God is going to disappoint some people who felt they really were saved because of some things they were doing in public, while they had sinister motives in their deeds. We can’t do what we think feels good, we must do what the Lord has instructed is right. Being a Christian is more than a confession of faith. It is a daily walk with the Lord and effort to be something we are not, which is perfect. It is a quest we can never give up on, but continually strive to be better today than we were the day before.
