Today Laura Ingraham discussed efforts by Liberals to lower the significance of the LSAT in allowing access to law schools. She spoke with John Nussbaumer, who produced some of the research that is being touted by Liberals.
Basically this is the latest effort by Liberals, to say Blacks can’t perform if they are held to the same standard as everyone else. I find it most insulting! If Blacks are not doing as well on a test, then it is the responsibility of those Blacks who wish entry to perform better on the test. Blacks are not given a different test from anyone else, so no special changes should be made on behalf on anyone in the name of “diversity”.
No matter what John Nussbaumer or anyone else wants to claim, people who perform better on the standardized tests finish school at a higher rate. To try and lessen the significance of the exam, because some people who do poorly on the exam might be able to do well in school, is a slap against the people who do perform well on the exam. These efforts to change the rules because some group does not perform as well is sickening. This is why there are various colleges. People who don’t score well enough to go to one school have the option to go to another school, or work to do better on the entrance exam. If someone really can do well in school, then they really can do better on the exam if the bar is not set lower.
After Ms. Ingraham’s discussion with Mr. Nussbaumer, a caller gave her take on how an exam was changed to try and be more “inclusive”. The result was only something that is terribly stereotypical and insulting.

You are NEVER going to have the Black Quasi-Socialist Progressive Fundementalists that proclaim to be the only authentic voice for Black people to admitt that this is the logical outcome of their quest for AA accommodations.
As state schools have increased their salient SAT scores due to the increased competitiveness among the students, particularly White females, an increasing number of Blacks have said that this amounts to UNINTENTIONAL RACISM in that Blacks cannot compete with these scores and thus are shut out.
I agreed to serve as treasurer for my local Black Alumni association branch in the ATL. The organization’s plan is to raise some money to setup an endowment to fund minority scholarships – a good thing. They seek to bring this money as well as a number of lifetime memberships into the main alum. organization to the office of the University President as a barganing chip to pressure him to admit more Black students – not good.
The reason why this misses the mark is because a few years ago our Dean of Students, who is Black told us that the school was changing course. The University of Pittsburgh was shifting away from it’s UCEF program which provided remedial education to mostly Black students from inner cities over to targeted scholarships for high performing Black students. He told us “today is a great time to be a Black scholar, colleges are chasing after you just as they are atheletes”. This message did not sink into my local set of friends. We clearly should be working with THE BLACK KIDS to sure up their academic standing rather than working with the university to lower their threshold.
