Ken McNeil, ex-husband of the stripper who claims she was raped by members of the Duke Lacrosse team, has come forward to speak with the media. He has explained how his ex-wife was such a nice woman. How she taught him to read. How he never saw her drink, except once when they were having a celebration and she had a little bit. He’s the best character witness she’s got. But in watching him, I also had to say to myself he is the reason his family is enduring this entire matter. Now true, the woman made her career choice, I’ll speak on that a little later. But a man has a responsibility to keep his marriage together and provide for his family. Mr. McNeil failed in that regard. When I was in premarital counseling, I was told something that I have had to admit is true. I was told “if your marriage fails, it’s your fault”! This was told to me directly, not my wife. Because it is true, if my marriage fails, then I as the God appointed head of my house must take the blame for the failure. This understanding of the institution of marriage really helps me to work hard to ensure my marriage stays in tact.

In Ken McNeil’s description of his ex-wife, he had nothing but good things to say about her. He really gave me the impression, that she did not have an affair with anyone outside of the bonds of their marriage while he was married to her. Which leaves me with an even stronger impression that he failed. So he could not keep his marriage together. He the provider, left his family to fend for themselves. Obviously whatever he was providing in divorce was not good enough. His ex-wife saw the need to try and improve her career options and resorted to stripping. (Yea to pay for college.) This was a terrible career choice on her part, but her husband was not around to ensure she would never consider such an option. He has mentioned that he was aware she was stripping, but it was not something she was doing when they were together. The man left the family and the woman made a poor choice. Of course if she was firmly rooted in the Lord, she would have found a better alternative, as I’ve seen some Christian single mothers need to do after a divorce. But this family’s issues began with the failure of a marriage. The divorce culture and especially the culture of single-motherhood in Black communities, has made people feel it’s not so terrible to have a mother raising 2 kids on her own. Mr. McNeil said he saw his ex-wife some weeks before these rape accusations and he said she looked pretty bad. Well knowing she was the mother of his children, it was his responsibility to intervene and try to remedy the situation. Namely by trying to put his family back together again. As he should be doing even now. There are 2 children that have a mother who was either raped, which I have doubts about, or she has lied and might end up in prison. It’s time for Ken McNeil to get off the TV News shows and get over to trying to save what’s left of his family.

As more information comes in this case, I still see nothing that proves the accused performed any rape. She claims she dug into their flesh with her nails. No DNA match. She’s picked people from a lop sided photo line-up and they have fairly tight alibis. Her ex-husband claims she does not drink, but a manager at a club has come forward, to say that she was really out of it after an audition at his club. I think she has been caught up in more than we are aware of. Mr. McNeil never knew he ex-wife to lie, but he never knew her to strip before he left her either. So a lot has changed since he left. At this point, based on available details, the only thing I think did happen is that some of the “Duke boys” probably did yell some race-based attacks at the strippers. I base that on what the neighbor who saw some of the events said. He also mentions that the strippers left the house and then returned, when the Duke players say the strippers went into the bathroom. There may be some discrepancy about where the strippers went, but there still is no proof of an actual rape by one of the Duke players. So while they are not all “nice guys”, I still have not seen proof any of them raped her.
